Bill D. Martin, 77 of rural Robinson, IL, died at 1:52 p.m., Wednesday, July 11, 2007 at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born September 3, 1929 in Robinson, the son of Millard Martin and Lillie Bays Martin.

Bill worked for 31 years in the maintenance department at the Marathon Refinery. He then worked after his retirement at the Robinson Daily News for several years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War in Japan and Korea. He was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69 and attended the Porterville Congregational Christian Church.

He married Norma Edgington August 29, 1953 and she survives. He is also survived by his two daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Don Mendenhall, and Jan and Tim Blankenbeker, all of Robinson; 5 grandchildren, Daniel and his wife Amy Mendenhall, Robinson, Matt and his wife Tiffany Mendenhall, Greenville, IL, Angie and her husband Shawn Brown, Willisville, IL, Emily Blankenbeker and Jacob Blankenbeker; 7 great grandchildren; his sister Agnes Davis, Terre Haute; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 brothers, Millard and Norman Martin; and his 2 sisters, Geneva Martin in infancy and Dorothy Ikemire.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, July 14th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Rev. Leland Culp is in charge of services. Burial is in the Kirk Cemetery, rural Robinson. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday and until service time on Saturday. Memorials may be made to the Elks Christmas Basket program or to the American Heart Association with envelopes available at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson American Legion Post #69, Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, the Amvets Post #33, and the Flat Rock American Legion Post #132.
