Gerald Wayne Maddox, 74, of Palestine, died at 10:50 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2007 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. He was born February 1, 1932 in Palestine, the son of James Weaver Maddox and Amy Angeline Brashears Maddox.

He served in the U. S. Navy during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Robinson Church of Christ. He retired from Briggs Pottery after 26 years of service. After his retirement, he delivered meals to Flat Rock and Palestine for the Crawford County Meals on Wheels program.

He married Ruth A. Tracy, October 19, 1952 and she survives. He is also survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Tracey and Doug McCord, rural Oblong, Stacey Nicholas Robinson, and Elizabeth and Gary Walters, Robinson; 6 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild due in February; his 2 sisters, Maxine Zellers, Palestine, and Wilma Alumbaugh, Palestine; his brother and sister-in-law, Gene and Carol Sue Maddox, Palestine; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, James "Jim" Maddox; and 2 sisters, Virginia Maddox and Vera JoAnn Maddox.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 11th at the Robinson Church of Christ with Raymond Warfel officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 10th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine, and one hour preceding the service at the church. Memorials may be made to Crawford County Meals on Wheels or to the St. Jude Hospital with envelopes available at the funeral home.
