Charles J. Knoblett, 86 of the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville, IL, formerly of Robinson, IL died at the Lawrence County Memorial Hospital in Lawrenceville at 3:15 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2004. He was born on October 29, 1917 in Robinson, the son of Fred Knoblett, Sr. and Julia Reel Knoblett.

He was retired from Briggs Manufacturing Co. as a Supervisor in 1976 after over 30 years of service. He was a past member and president of the Robinson Lions Club and a member of the Henpeck C. B. Club. He was a past member of the Plymouth Congregational Christian Church and attended the Grand Prairie United Christian Church.

He married Helen J. White on November 12, 1938 and she preceded him in death on February 8, 2000. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his son, Richard Finley Knoblett, 4 grandsons, Michael, Timothy, Bruce, and David Boyd; 2 great grandchildren; 5 brothers, O. H. Knoblett, Carl Knoblett, Herbert Knoblett, Fred Knoblett, and Howard Knoblett; 2 sisters, Irene Racop and Fern Pleasant.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles Wayne and Joan Knoblett, Robinson; 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Norma Mae and Donald Thompson, Herrin, IL, Bernice Jane and Rev. Robert Boyd, Seagrove, NC, Betty Ellen and Rev. Richard Boyd, Galt, CA; 12 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; 7 great great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, February 11th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Rev. Robert Boyd and Rev. Richard Boyd are in charge of services. Burial is in Kirk Cemetery, rural Robinson. Visitation is from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, February 10th. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Village in Lawrenceville or to the Grand Prairie United Christian Church, rural Robinson.
