Theda V. Kent, 86, of Palestine, IL, died at 8:15 a.m. Friday, June 10, 2005 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL. She was born July 14, 1918 in Robinson, IL, the daughter of Raymond O. Sweet and Beulah Weger Sweet. She was the social services director at a nursing home. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Palestine, was past Matron and member of the Kathryn Chapter Order of Easter Star #637, Robinson, and a member of the James Halstead Sr. Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Crawford County Historical Society, and the Palestine Preservation Society.

She married Frank J. Kent April 15, 1935 and he preceded her in death on August 14, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 1 son, William Kent on September 2, 1964; and 1 daughter, Barbara Kent on May 10, 1953.

She is survived by 3 sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Mary Ann Kent, Birds, Jim and Donna Kent, rural Flat Rock, Forrest and Tamara Kent, rural Flat Rock; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald H. and Donna Sweet, Hillsboro, IL; and 2 sisters-in-law, Zada Sprague, Tucson, AZ and Wilma Jeffers, Evansville, IN.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 13th at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine, with Rev. James Delaney III officiating. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson. Visitation will be Sunday, June 12th from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Palestine or the Palestine Preservation Projects Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
