Jack Virgil Hoffman, 76, of Grove, Oklahoma, formerly of Crawford County, IL, died Monday, October 22, 2007 at Grove Hospital, Grove, OK. He was born October 5, 1931 in Red Oak, Iowa, the son of Virgil Hoffman and Veronica Bashaw Hoffman.

He graduated from high school and college in Fullerton, CA. He served in the U. S. Air Force for 12 years serving in Korea. He retired as a heavy equipment operator and was a member of the Operating Engineers Local #841, Terre Haute, IN. He also worked for E. S. D. A. He was a member and past commander of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549 and a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69.

He married Chiyo Nanjo. He then married Mary Salee in 1965 and she preceded him in death on August 19, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his son, David Hoffman.

He is survived by 4 daughters and his son-in-law, Nancy and Brent Smith, Robinson, Mary Allen, Oblong, Jo Ann Brown, Grove, Oklahoma, and Brenda Parks, Indianapolis, IN; his daughter-in-law, Sue Hoffman, Willow Hill; 3 sons and his daughter-in-law, Mark McFarland, Nashville, TN, Doug Hoffman, Robinson, Mike and Felicia Hoffman, Robinson; 14 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; 3 sisters and his brother-in-law, Jerri and Stein Cloy, Village Mills, TX, Helen Ellette, Humble, TX, and Lila Kay Rogers, Laughlin, NV.

Memorial services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2007 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Pastor Rusty Morecraft officiating. Burial will be in the Kirk Cemetery. Visitation will be from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Friday preceding the services. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Flat Rock American Legion Pos #132, and Palestine AmVets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the V. F. W. Post #4549 Transportation Fund with envelopes available at the funeral home.
