Ray B. Heck, 93, died Friday June 10, 2005 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. Ray was born on October 30, 1911 in Oblong Twp., Crawford County, Illinois and was the son of Charles O. and Louella (Roberts) Heck.

On June 17, 1937 he married Leah F. (Banning), they were married 67 years. Ray worked for CCC Camp during the Depression also worked as a farmer and carpenter. He served in the U. S. Army during W. W. II as a medic for the 236 Medical General Hospital serving time in France. Ray was a member of the Oblong Wesleyan Church. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, taking walks, jig saw and crossword puzzles, just being outside and spending time with his family.

Ray is survived by his wife, Leah; one son, David "Jake" Heck; three granddaughters, Lisa Wilson, Kathy Wilson and Anita Benoit; five great-grandchildren, Christopher, James & Cody Wilson, Nicole & Jessica Benoit; twin sisters, Mary Green and Martha Petty; one sister-in-law, Ruth Yager; one brother-in-law, Kenneth Banning and several nieces and nephews.

Ray is preceded by his parents, three daughters: Barbara Heck, Sue Wilson and Beverly F. Heck; two brothers: Cecil and Harold Heck; one sister: Escoe Hatton also an infant brother and sister.

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
