John M. Hawley 82, Rural Robinson, Illinois died Friday March 26, 2004 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, Illinois. John was born December 14, 1921 in Bridgeport, Illinois and was the son of Orla M. & Irene Emma (Jones) Hawley. On April 17, 1946 he married Ruth Juanita (Hance) who preceded him in death on April 15, 1982. In 1983 he married Norma (Walters) who preceded him in death on May 14, 2000. John was a Drilling Supervisor for Marathon Oil Company retiring in 1982. John served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was a member of the Dogwood United Methodist Church, rural Oblong, Oblong Masonic Lodge 644 AF & AM, Purple Hearts Society, former member of Crawford County Civil Defense. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, bulldozing, camping and spending time with his grandkids.

John is survived by one son & his fiancee: Monty Ray Hawley & Jodie Redmon; one daughter & son-in-law: Carla Jean & Howard Griffith; five step-daughters; three grandchildren: Michelle & Mike Buddell, Amy & Ken Kostro and Doug & Carmen Griffith; seven great-grandchildren: Blaine Buddell, Kyle Kostro, Kayla Griffith, Jayson Buddell, Jessica Griffith, Dylan Buddell & John Griffith; three brothers & sisters-in-law: Roy & Charlene Hawley, Howard & Martha Hawley and Morris & Shirley Hawley; one sister & brother-in-law: Fredda & Charles Tarr; several nieces and nephews; and Helen Griffith who was a close friend.

Preceding John in death are his parents, both wives, one brother: Ray Hawley; one sister: Frances Pate and one step-grandson: Jeremy Smith.

Burial will be in the Oblong Cemetery, Oblong, IL.
