Marjorie "Bernice" Frye, 95, of Memphis, TN, formerly of Palestine, IL, died at 10:00 a.m. Friday, March 4, 2005 at the St. Frances Nursing Home, Memphis, TN. She was born December 12, 1909 in Crawford County, IL, the daughter of Elmer Moore and Mary Selena Reinoehl Moore. She graduated from Price Grade School and Robinson High School. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Royal Neighbors, Grace United Methodist Church, Palestine, American Legion Post #69 Auxiliary, Heathsville Quilt Club, and DAR. She was a volunteer for 19 years at the United Methodist Village and she served on the Democratic Precinct Committee for Montgomery Township for at least 30 years. She retired as the cafeteria manager of the Palestine High School after 17 ½ years of service.

She married Orley Isaac Baker in 1925 and he preceded her in death January 25, 1951. She married Clyde C. Frye in 1955 and he preceded her in death in 1975. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her son, Avery Dean Baker on September 9, 1982; a grandson, Matthew Edmund DeLay; a step daughter, Donna Lee Hudson; a brother, Max Moore; and a sister, Helen Moore Rozell.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Jane DeLay, Germantown, TN; her daughter-in-law, Eleanor Baker, Holland, MI; her step-son, Gale Frye, Robinson; 6 grandchildren, Deborah K. DeLay, Germantown, TN, James Michael DeLay, Germantown, TN, William D. Baker, Spring Lake, MI, David John Baker, Cheboygan, MI, Susan Jane Baker Headworth, Ionia, MI, James Paul Baker, Hamilton, MI; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Monday, March 7, 2005 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine, IL. Burial will be in Fuller Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, March 6th from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Grace United Methodist Church or to the United Methodist Village, Lawrenceville with envelopes available at the funeral home.
