Jack Lee Elder, 76 of Palestine, IL, died at 7:20 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2005 at his home in Palestine after an extended illness. He was born May 29, 1929 in Palestine, the son of Noble Elder and Odrus Turner Elder. He worked in production at the Case Pottery for over 30 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, and the AmVets Post #33. He was also a member of the Palestine First Christian Church.

He is survived by 2 brothers, George Elder, Palestine and Charles Elder, Palestine; his sister, Sara Kimberlin, Palestine; and several nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services are Thursday, September 1st at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. John Brand is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 31st. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson American Legion Post #69, the Flat Rock American Legion Post #139, the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549 and the Amvets Post #33. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Land Hospice, with envelopes at the funeral home.
