Carolyn E. Dennis, 58 of Robinson, IL, died at the Emergency Room at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson of an apparent heart condition at 5:03 a.m. Sunday, December 31, 2006. She was born August 23, 1948 in Robinson, the daughter of Ova Newlin and Ruth Osborn Newlin.
Carolyn was a homemaker, a construction worker through the Carpenter's Local #347 of Mattoon for 17 years, and was employed for 4 years at the Robinson Pamida Store and for 2 years at P. N. Hersh. She was also a member of the Palestine Eagles Lodge and the Ladies of the Moose.
She married Tom E. Dennis on February 22, 1964 and he survives. She is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas E. and Melinda Dennis, Robinson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Diana Lynn and Gary Plummer, Oblong, and Brenda Lee and Mike Nash, Oblong; 8 grandchldren, Brittney Plummer, Elija Plummer, Trae Nash, Tara Nash, Brittany Nash, Cameron Nash, Haze Lemmon, Reeve Dennis; a great granddaughter, Ashton Nash; her two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harlan "Podge" and Linda Newlin, Hutsonville, and Jim and Marilyn Newlin, Flat Rock; her sister Patty Pethtel, Stoy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Gary Newlin and Johnny Newlin; 2 sisters and 2 brothers-in-law, Esther and Jack Kemper, Virginia Kemper, and Winnie Pethtel.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 4th at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Brother Jack Cunningham is in charge of services. Burial is in the Hardinville Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Oblong Sports Booster Club with envelopes at the funeral home.
