David L. Deatherage, 82, Vincennes, Indiana and formerly of the Crawford County, Illinois area passed away at 3:20 p.m. Monday October 8, 2007, at the VA Illiana Health Care System in Danville, Illinois. Born on March 5, 1925, in Richmond, Kentucky, he was the son of George P. Deatherage and Viola (Willoughby) Deatherage. David served in the U.S. Marine Corps during W. W. II. He was a farmer in the Oblong area for many years; worked for Briggs Pottery in Robinson, IL - retiring in 1987; he owned and operated Gingerbread Lane Friends in Trimble, IL for 15 years. David attended the Highland Church of Christ in Robinson, IL and was a member of the Oblong American Legion Post #219; Thomas A. Jennings Memorial Post Marine Corps League, Robinson and a past member of the Crawford County Fair Board. His interest included woodworking; fishing; boating and his family.

On March 20, 1959, he married Betty Twitty, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Jane & Kenneth Kimmel and Kaye & Gary Burgin; six grandchildren, Bo Coonce, Kevin Coonce, Shawnee & Randy Clark, Nikki & Robert Lawrence, Matt & Kelly Burgin and Michelle & Matt Alumbaugh; eight great-grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Sara & Reed Babb; one sister-in-law, Mayme Deatherage and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; one son, Randy Coonce and one brother, Harold W. Deatherage.

Burial is in the Oblong Cemetery.
