Herschel Lowell Cox, 75 of rural Palestine, IL, died at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson, IL at 2:32 a.m. Saturday, September 13, 2003. He was born March 29, 1928 in rural Trimble, IL, the son of Altus Cox and Belva Correll Cox. He was a retired farm hand working for Pifer Farms for several years. He attended Trimble Bible Church.

He married Edith Tohill on February 3, 1951 and she survives. He is also survived by 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Alvin Cox, Monroe, WA, Kenneth and Jane Cox, Burton, KS, Daniel and Mary Cox, Atoka, OK, Michael and Jeannie Cox, Robinson, IL; his daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Delbert Epperson, Wichita, KS; 10 grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; his brother and sister-in-law, Dwight and Connie Cox, Rosehill, KS; 3 sisters and brothers-in-law, Catherine and Bob Garrard, Grove, OK, Mary and Duane Sample, Carrolton, TX, Martha and Wilburn Harden, Grove, OK.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, David Cox; and his infant sister, Dottie Lucille Cox.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2003 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Palestine. Pastor David Hyde is in charge of services. Burial is in the Oak Grove Cemetery, rural Palestine. Visitation is 2 hours preceding the service from 9-11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
