Madeline Climer, 90 of Palestine, IL, died at Crawford Memorial Hospital Saturday, September 25, 2004. She was born May 24, 1914 in Merom, IN, the daughter of Milton Bogard and Carrie Marbry Bogard. She was a homemaker and had worked at the Index Notions Co. in Palestine and the shoe factory in Robinson. She was a member of the Palestine First United Methodist Church, the Royal Neighbors, the Bayview Club, and the South East LaMotte Home Extension.

Madeline married Thomas H. Climer on August 31, 1933 and he preceded her in death on January 23, 1995. She was also preceded by her parents; 3 brothers, Delain, Earl, and Melvin Bogard; her sister in infancy; and her great granddaughter.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Myrna and Jim McNair, Palestine; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Rayburn Climer, Marshall; 5 grandchildren, Jim McNair Jr, Terre Haute, IN, Lola Shull, Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Cydney Wolf, Burlington, VT, Angela Climer, New York City, NY, and Joell Barrientes, Houston, TX; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, September 29th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Rev. Jan Laws is in charge of services. Burial is in the Palestine Cemetery. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, September 28th. Memorials may be made to the Palestine Library or to the Palestine First United Methodist Church with envelopes at the funeral home.
