Kenneth K. Caraway, 83, of Robinson, IL, died at 8:45 a.m. (E.S.T.) Sunday, September 16, 2007 at West Minster Village Davis Gardens Health Center, Terre Haute, IN. He was born September 5, 1924 in Eldorado, IL, the son of Henry A. Caraway and Mary E. Edwards Caraway.

He taught at Cairo, Nashville, Sandoval, and at Robinson High Schools for 12 years. He was Regional Superintendent of Schools for 4 years in Crawford County and retired after 30 years of service to the schools, retiring in 1979. He was a lifetime member of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, DAV, and the First Baptist Church, Robinson. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII in Europe and the southern Pacific.

He married Opal Cunningham January 4, 1943 and she preceded him in death October 22, 1992. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Pearline Walters Bennet, Delores Kingston, and Mary Stiernaman; and 4 brothers, Carl Caraway, Jethro Caraway, Rev. Edward Caraway and Alsie Caraway.

He is survived by his 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Larry Bills, Tulsa, OK, Regina and Dennis Luessenheide, Maryville, IL; his 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Kenneth D. and Kathy Caraway, Olney, Kirk and Stephanie Caraway, Greenwood, IN; and 11 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 22nd with Pastor Ed Groover officiating at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Burial will be in the Robinson New Cemetery, Robinson. Visitation will be held 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday, September 21st at the funeral home. Military graveside services will be conducted by the combined units of the Robinson V. F. W. Post #4549, Robinson American Legion Post #69, Flat Rock American Legion Post #132, and Palestine Am Vets Post #33.
