Opal R. Camp 90 died Thursday December 27,2001 at Cotillion Ridge Nursing Center Robinson, Illinois. Opal was born October 20, 1911 in Landes, Illinois and was the daughter of William Keplinger and Eva (Messenger) Keplinger.

On October 6, 1934 she married Vernon L. Camp of Lawrence County, Illinois. Mr. Camp died November 25, 1989. Opal and Vernon owned, and along with their daughter Janice operated Camps General Store in Chauncey, IL. from 1949 to 1957. In 1957, they moved to Oblong and along with Opal's sister Fern, and her husband Burnis Waldrop, owned and operated, with their nephew-in-law Charlie Ikemire, The Friendly Four Food Market on North Range Street in Oblong until 1966. Some of their happiest days were spent with all the good people who shopped and visited at their stores. Opal was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Oblong. For several years Opal belonged to the Methodist Churches in Landes and Chauncey, Illinois. Opal loved music, playing the piano into her 88th year. Flowers and all things beautiful, and her family were her pride and joy. Her family will think of her everyday.

Opal is survived by a daughter and son-in-law R. Janice & Warren Baker; 2 grandchildren Wes & Sandy Baker and Glenda Baker; 1 Great Grandson Wade Baker; 1 sister Fern Waldrop; 1 sister-in-law Doris Camp; 3 nieces Lois Ikemire, Marilyn Smith and Donna Fritz. Opal is preceded in death by her parents, husband and 1 sister Dale Keplinger Fritz.

Burial will be in Waggoner Cemetery, rural Chauncey, Illinois.
