Davana M. Briggs, 86 of Robinson, IL, died at 11:40 a.m. Friday, September 21, 2007 at Crawford Memorial Hospital, Robinson. She was born May 10, 1921 in Porterville the daughter of Albert M. Chapman and Abbie Williamson Chapman.

She was a housewife. She received her teaching certificate from Southern Illinois University and taught at Muddy Creek and No. 9 schools. She was a member of the Porterville Congregational Christian Church and the Crawford County Home Extension.

She married Grant L. Briggs May 10, 1947 and he preceded her in death November 22, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents; her great grandson; 5 brothers, Omer Chapman, Ralph Chapman, Harold Chapman, Rex Goodwin, Arthur Sears; and 3 sisters, Agnes White, Inez Smith, and Wilma Thompson.

She is survived by 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Rosemary Preston, Hutsonville, Ruth and Doug Gurley, Hutsonville, Donna & Terry Hoke, Flat Rock; 2 sons and her daughter-in-law, Glenn and Joan Briggs, rural Robinson, Rodney Briggs, Hutsonville; 11 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters and her brother-in-law, Rosella and Wayne Hill, Annapolis, and Mary Bradbury, Robinson.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 24, 2007 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Rev. Leland Culp officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Cemetery, rural Oblong. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, September 23rd at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Porterville Congregational Christian Church or to the Conrad Nading College Fund in memory of Alex with envelopes available at the funeral home.
