Sally L. Branson, 89, of Flat Rock, IL, died at 8:00 a.m. Thursday, October 16, 2003 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Vincennes, IN. She was born October 1, 1914 in Klondike, IL, the daughter of Joseph York and Stella Ford York. She was a homemaker, a member of the Flat Rock United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women of Flat Rock, and the Community Center Quilters.

She married Bruce Branson on November 29, 1933 and he preceded her in death on February 1, 1986. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, Charles Richard Branson and Jerry Paul Branson; her grandson, Richard Lee Branson; 5 brothers, Henry, Carl, Theo, Jim, and Dennis York; 3 sisters, Martha Gray, Dora Tucker, and Mamie Tracy.

She is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Judy Branson, Flat Rock, Garry and Donna Branson, Flat Rock; her daughter and son-in-law, JoAnn and Dale Dowden, Vincennes, IN; 7 grandchildren, J. D. Branson, Tammy Snyder, Tim Branson, David Branson, Joni Hoke, Jera Hoke, and Jamie Hoke; 8 great grandchildren; her sister, Frances Lolitta Parker, Satana, KS; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, October 19, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. at the Flat Rock United Methodist Church. Rev. Jeff Haley is in charge of services. Burial is in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, October 18th at the Flat Rock United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Lincoln Trail Hospice. The Goodwine Funeral Home, Flat Rock is in charge of arrangements.
