Glen "Jew" Bonnell, 77, of Oblong, IL, died at 2:00 a.m. Friday, June 17,2 005 at his residence. He was born May 24, 1928 in Porterville, IL, the son of Guy Bonnell and Laura Mitchell Bonnell. He retired as foreman in the Machine Shop at Marathon Oil Company for 37 ½ years retiring, in 1986. He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Oblong where he was a trustee for many years. He was also a 55 years member of the Oblong City Masonic Lodge #644, a member of the Jaycees, the Oblong School Board, and the Oblong Community Food Pantry. He was a NASCAR fan.

He married Linda Larrabee on September 25, 1948 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Glenda and Ronnie Allen, Oblong; his 2 sons and a daughter-in-law, Kenny and LeAnn Bonnell, St. Louis, MO, and Cary Bonnell, Las Vegas, NV; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; 1 sister, Cora May Sharp, Rochester Hills, MI; 2 brothers and sisters-in-law, Max and Marian Bonnell, Robinson, Larry and Kay Bonnell, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Lester, Lowell and Charles Bonnell; and 2 sisters, Martha Dale and Catherine Sharp.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005 at the Goodwine Funeral Home, Robinson with Rev. Jan Foulk officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, rural Porterville. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, June 19th at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice or to the Oblong Food Pantry with envelopes available at the funeral home.
