Roger G. Benton, 50 of Palestine, IL, died at 1:05 p.m. Friday, September 24, 2004 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. He was born July 21, 1954 in Graniteville, MO, the son of William Andrew Benton and Ruth Jane Parker. He was a logger, employed by R & R Timber in Palestine. He was also a member of the Palestine and Robinson Eagles Lodge.
Roger married Martha Jane Schlosser April 2, 1977 and she survives. He is also survived by his mother Jane Benton Parker, Palestine; 2 sons and his daughter-in-law, William Gene and Sarah Marie Benton, Oblong and Jerry Wayne Benton, Palestine; his daughter, Kymberlie Walker, Robinson; 2 grandchildren, Brook and Morgan Benton, Oblong; 3 brothers and sister-in-law, Robert Benton, West York, James Benton, Casey, and his wife, Ruth Benton, Robinson, and William Allen Benton, 2 sisters and his brother-in-law, Mary Elizabeth Benton, Palestine, Tina and Jeff Blair, Robinson; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father and his sister-in-law, Beverly Benton.
Funeral services are Tuesday, September 28th at 10:00 a.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Flat Rock. Rev. John Brand is in charge of services. Burial is in the Jones Cemetery, rural Flat Rock. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home in Flat Rock.
