Larry E. Beabout, Sr. of Robinson, IL, died at 7:55 a.m. Friday, July 23, 2004 at Crawford Memorial Hospital in Robinson after an extended illness. He was born October 9, 1941 in Robinson, the son of Harold W. Beabout and Edytha H. Wilson Beabout.

Larry graduated from Robinson High School in 1959, where he played football, baseball, and basketball. He graduated from Lincoln Trail College in the Petroleum Technology program then attended Eastern Illinois University, studying geology. He was an Eagle Scout and an Explorer Scout, received the God and Country Award. After graduation he entered the U. S. Navy and was a radarman, stationed on various destroyers and at Gretna Air Base in New Orleans.

He worked for Marathon Oil Co. from 1970 to 2002 in the laboratory when he retired. He coached Pee Wee and Little League baseball for a number of years. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. He was an active member of the Robinson First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ where he was currently an Elder and Trustee, and had previously served as Chairman of the Board.

He married Marjorie A. McGovern on January 29, 1966 and she survives. He is also survived by his daughter, Jacinda Beabout, Racine, WI; his mother, Edytha Beabout, Robinson; 2 sisters, Donna Beabout and Becky Beabout, both of Robinson; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and his son Larry Beabout, Jr.

Funeral services are Tuesday, July 27th at 2:00 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Robinson. Interim Pastor Bob Harris is in charge of services. Burial is in the Grand Prairie Cemetery, rural Robinson. Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Monday and from 8:00 a.m. Tuesday until service time at 2:00. Memorials may be made to the Lincoln Trail Foundation or to the Robinson First Christian Church Disciples of Christ. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
