Caroline Underwood Bailey, 82 of rural Palestine, IL, died at 1:40 p.m. (e.s.t.) Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born July 21, 1922 in rural Robinson, the daughter of John Roland Crum and Nellie Miner Reynolds. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pilgrim Holiness Church, rural Robinson.

Caroline married Norris Bailey on May 17, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 20, 2001. She was also preceded in death by her parents; 2 brothers, Arthur Crum and John Francis "Frank" Crum; 5 sisters, Bertha Crum, Florence Harris, Ethel Seaney, Edith Tedford, and Mary Perkins and an infant sister; 1 daughter-in-law, Kathryn Bailey; 1 grandchild; and 3 great grandchildren..

She is survived by 2 daughters and sons-in-law, Loretta and Bill Mikeworth, Robinson, Janet and Gary Pankonien, rural Palestine; 4 sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and Sandra Bailey, rural Robinson, Leonard Bailey, Seminole, OK, Don and Jean Bailey, rural Palestine, James and Sherri Bailey, Robinson; 16 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; and several great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Cora Sechrest, Chenoa, and Lila Zalewiski, Utica, NY; sister-in-law, Lucille Bowen, Palestine; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be Sunday, January 23rd at 4:30 p.m. at the Goodwine Funeral Home in Palestine. Burial will be in the Palestine Cemetery at a later date due to the high waters. Visitation is Saturday, January 22nd from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Lincoln Trail Hospice, with envelopes at the funeral home.
