Following is one of the Biographies and Stories which where gathered by Charles Sumner McKamy in the 1950s for publication in a Crawford County History Book. Unfortunately he passed away before the book was published.
Ocie Cammie Seeders and Cazzie Neal Seeders, twin sons of James Bennett Seeders and Mary Lavina Walker Seeders, were born October 29, 1879 in Lamotte Township, Illinois, two and one-half miles north of Palestine. The boys were sent to the same school and shared the same pursuits during boyhood, but as they grew to manhood, Cazzie Neal became a farmer and Ocie Cammie entered Business College.
Cazzie Neal was married August 18, 1901 to Alta Gertrude Jeffries, a native of Crawford County, and to them was born three children: Irene, Veril and Ocie Neal. Veril died at the age of one and one-half years. Irene married Dr. Lawrence Clarey of Pekin, Ill. and passed away July 18, 1928. Ocie Neal married Ruth Paull May 18, 1940 and to them was born a daughter, Susan Irene, May 26, 1951.
Ocie Cammie, at twenty years of age, went to work as a clerk for the Illinois Central Railroad in the first office at Palestine. After serving for a time in that capacity, he went to Newton, Ill. as a clerk in the Illinois central Railroad office and after one year, he came back to the farm in Lamotte Township.
He served a Deputy County Clerk in Crawford County from Dec. 1910 to July 1, 1913, resigning to take the Postmastership at Palestine, Ill. He served eight years, 1921-1934, then went into the Farmers' State Bank as Assistant Cashier and later became Cashier for thirteen years
Ocie Cammie was married August 18, 1923 to Lulu martin, youngest daughter of Winfield Scott Martin and June Brimberry Martin. She taught in the Public Schools of Palestine and Robinson before her marriage. On August 1, 1934, he resigned as Cashier at the Bank and again served as Postmaster at Palestine. After serving fifteen years, he retired from active life on Oct. 30, 1949.
