Following is one of the Biographies and Stories which where gathered by Charles Sumner McKamy in the 1950s for publication in a Crawford County History Book. Unfortunately he passed away before the book was published.

J. Paul Hughes, manager of the Ohio Oil Company's Illinois Marketing District, has been in the company's sales organization sine he came with the company in 1930.
A native of Bristoria, Pa., Mr. Hughes attended Bethany College before working for the Bethlehem Steel Company in 1915 in South Bethlehem, Pa. He served in the Army, 1917-1919 and 1920-21, being discharged a captain. He also worked for the Adams Express Company, Philadelphia, and the Bristow Gasoline and Supply Company, Bristow. Okla. After the Transcontinental Oil Company took over the Bristow Company in 1925, Mr. Hughes was made division manager in Tulsa, Okla. Ohio Oil purchased Transcontinental in 1930 and he was appointed division manager of the Oklahoma sales area, first for the subsidiary Mid-Kansas Oil & Gas Company, and the Marathon Oil Company, later with Ohio Oil. In 1938, Mr. Hughes moved to Louisville, Ky., in charge of the Kentucky sales area. He was transferred to Robinson as Illinois District manager in 1948.
Mr. Hughes is a past President of the Kentucky Petroleum Marketers Association, member of he American Petroleum Institute, the American Petroleum Industries Committee, the Robinson and Illinois Chamber of Commerce, is a 32nd degree Mason, Shriner, Elk and member of the American Legion.
Mr. Hughes is a trustee of the Robinson Country Club, Finance Chairman of the Crawford County Swimming Pool which was built entirely from voluntary contributions.
