Following is one of the Biographies and Stories which where gathered by Charles Sumner McKamy in the 1950s for publication in a Crawford County History Book. Unfortunately he passed away before the book was published.

Harry E. Handy has been an integral part of the Ohio Oil Company's Robinson refinery from 1926, when as a refinery engineer he aided in the modernization of the old Lincoln Oil Refining Company facility, bought by Ohio Oil two years earlier. Today he is manager of the sprawling layout which daily refines over 40,000 carrels of crude oil into top grade petroleum products.

After graduating from the University of Illinois in engineering he joined Ohio Oil in 1923 in Marshall, Ill., working in the geological office. Before coming to Robinson he was an engineer in El Dorado, Ark. He was transferred to Robinson in 1926as a refinery engineer, was made refinery superintendent in 1947 and manager in 1953.

Active in civic and industry affairs, he is a member of the American Petroleum Institute, a councilor for the API, a member of the Research Institute of America and the Illinois Manufacturing Association. He is an Elk, belongs to the Crawford County Country Club and takes an interest in the Robinson and Illinois Chamber of Commerce.
