Following is one of the Biographies and Stories which where gathered by Charles Sumner McKamy in the 1950s for publication in a Crawford County History Book. Unfortunately he passed away before the book was published.

Saul and Catherine (Lawrence) Sears. They were the parents of 8 children, spending most of their lives in Illinois, although Constance was born in Picket, Ark. The parents died when Constance was a year and 6 mo. old. After their death, H.O. and Phronia Sears, south of Oblong, took her in their home and was treated as a daughter. Saul Sears was the son of Harrison Sears and Berckett, they came to Illinois in 1861 just as the Civil War starting. Harrison Sears enlisted and his wife and 6 children remained in Illinois. Catherine Sears, the mother of Constance, was the daughter of Joe and Rachel Lawrence, they were the parents of 3 children. Mr. Lawrence was a minister, he also enlisted, and died while in the service.
