Bodo Winhold, 80, Dies at Schmitt Memorial Hospital
Bondo Winhold, 80, route 3 Virginia, died at 3 a.m. today at Schmitt Memorial Hospital where he had been patient since May 7.
  The body was removed to Cline's Funeral Home.
  Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cline's Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Rooker, pastor of Sangamon Valley Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
  Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 pm. Sunday.
  Bodo Winhold was a son of Ferdinand and Bertha Phillipi Winhold and was the last of his immediate family.
  He made his home with a nephew Roy Winhold of Virginia the past four years.
  He is survived by a niece. Mrs. Paul Petefish of Virginia, and two nephews. Roy Winhold of Virginia and Virgil Winhold of LaBelle. Mo.

Charles Winhold Funeral held
Well Known Resident Died at Hospital on Sunday April 9, 1939
   Funeral services were held Wednesday for Charles Winhold with Rev. W. S. Armstrong of Moweaqua in Charge.
   The deceased, who resided 2 miles south of this city died at 11:15 p.m. Sunday at Passavant Hospital following a lingering illness. He had followed the farming occupation throughout his life and was considered as one of the substantial citizens of the community.
   He was born April 30, 1874, near Arenzville, son of Ferdinand and Bertha Philippi Winhold. He married Mayme L. Long.
   He is survived by his wife and one daughter, Bertha.

E. S. Winhold Dies Today July 29, 1942 Funeral at Farm Home on Friday
   Eugene S. Winhold, 64 years old and a life long resident of Cass County, died at his farm home near here early this morning.
   He was born March 25, 1878, a son of Ferdinand and Bertha Philippi Winhold, in the farm neighborood where he spent his life.
   On February 1, 1916, He was united in marriage to Erna B. Ellrick.
   Surviving are the wife, a son H. Gene Winhold. a granddaughter, Lynn; three brothers, Rudolph, Julius, Bodo, and a sister Lena, all of near this city.
   Funeral services will be held at the late farm home at 3 o'clock Friday afternoon.
   The body was taken to the Cline Funeral Home to be prepared for burial.

August 1, 1939 'Aunt' Fannie Winhold Dies
Would have Been 103 September 2nd
   Miss Fannie Winhold, known affectionately to her intimates as aunt Fannie, died yesterday afternoon at 4 o'clock at her farm home six miles southeast of Beardstown. Had she lived until September 2d she would have been 103 years of age.
   The immediate cause of her death was said to have been an infection caused after she had accidentally scratched her finger with a pin.
   The body was brought to the Cline funeral home to be prepared for burial.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the late home. Burial will be at the Jockisch cemetery.
   Born in Pennsylvania, Miss Winhold came to this county as a child with her pioneer parents and lived in the same vicinity nearly a century.
   She observed her 102 birthday anniversary eleven months ago, receiving friends in her room, and had been looking forward to her 103d anniversary.
   The decedant made her home with the children of her late sister, the Misses Laura, Lulu and Emma Philippi and William and P. O. Philippi.
   She had been surprisingly keen of mind despite her advanced years, and took an interest in activities on the farm. She loved the neighborhood in which she lived, and the warm summer days often found her sitting in a chair in the farm yard. Most of the time, however, she has been confined to her bed in her later years.
Obituary
   Fanny Frances Winhold was born September 2, 1836 at Pittsburg, Pa., the daughter of William and Barbara nee Weber Winhold, and passed away at her home three miles southwest of Bluff Springs at the age of 102 years, 10 months, 30 days. At the age of five years she came with her parents to Cass County, Illinois, and several years later located on the farm where she passed away. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters.The brothers were Ferdinand and Henry and the sisters were Mrs. Pauline Muhlert, Mrs. Amelia Arnoldi, Mrs. Josephine Launer, Mrs. Marie Philippi. She is survived by her nieces Misses Emma, Lula, and Laura Philippi and her two nephews Pompeious and William Philippi with whom she made her home.There are several other nieces and nephews and a number of great and great-great-grand nieces and nephews, with a host of friends to whom she was known as Aunt Fannie.

Ferdinand Winhold Passed Away at His Home, Southeast of This City Sunday Evening
   Died, Sunday evening, April 5, at 7:30, Ferdinand Winhold, aged 68 years, 4 months and 9 days. Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the residence, seven miles southeast of this city. Interment at the Jockisch cemetery.
   Deceased has been confined to his home with a complication of diseases for some time past, and the end was not altogether unexpected.
   Ferdinand Winhold was born near Pittsburg, Pa., November 26, 1839, and when but eighteen months old came to Illinois with his parents, who located in this county on a farm, where he remained until twenty-three years of age, when he acquired land of his own and followed farming in his own behalf. In 1866 he was united in marriage with Bertha Philippi. To this union were born nine children, eight sons and one daughter, viz.: Rudolph F., Julius P., William P., Charles H., Eugene S., Paul P., Bodo H., Hugo V. and Lena.
   Mr. Winhold had always taken an interest in public matters and held the office of director and road commissioner at different times. He was a good citizen, a successful farmer and a staunch Republican.

Hugo Winhold, 58, Is Dead
   Hugo B. Winhold, 58 years old died at 3:50 this morning in the Schmitt Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He had been a patient since last Thursday.
   The body was taken to the Cline funeral home to be prepared for burial and will be taken to the late residence near here this evening.
   Funeral services have been arranged for 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the Winhold home, with the Rev. M. I. Hall of Elmwood, Illinois, in charge.
   The decedent was well known in Cass County, the son of the late Ferdinand and Bertha Philippi Winhold. He was born December 31, 1880 and would have been 58 years of age next week.
   He is survived by his twin brother, Bodo, a brother Paul Winhold of Beardstown, and four other brothers and a sister, Rudolph, Julius, Charles, Eugene and Lena Winhold. A brother, William, and his parents, preceded him in death.
   The decedent, a graduate of Arenzville high school and Gem City Business college, Quincy, was always a farmer and made his home all of his life on the farm where he was born.

Miss Lena Winhold 85, Dies at Local Hospital
   Miss Lena Winhold, 85, died at 6 o'clock this morning at Schmitt Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient since Tuesday.
   She was a lifelong resident of Cass County, and was born September 23, 1872 near Bluff Springs, the daughter of Ferdinand and Bertha Philippi Winhold. She was one of nine children.
   She moved from the family farm south of Bluff Springs into Beardstown in 1946.
   Surviving are a brother, Bono Winhold , who resides at 809 Washington St., one niece and two nephews.
   Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Cline Funeral home, with the Rev. Donald Krueger, pastor of the First Ev. Lutheran Church officiating.
   Friends may call from 7:30 to 9 p.m. this evening at the funeral home.

Paul Winhold Passes Away
Succumbs After Sudden Heart Attack
   Paul Winhold, assistant cashier of the First National Bank, died at Schmitt Memorial hospital at 10:26 o'clock last night following a heart attack suffered shortlv before at the Elks club rooms.
   Mr. Winhold became ill while at the club, being stricken suddenly a little before 9 o'clock and rushed to the Schmitt Memorial hospital. He was 60 years of age.
   The body was taken to the Simpson Home for Services to be prepared for burial.
   Funeral services will be held at the late residence at 2: 30 o'clock Friday afternoon.
With Bank 30 Years
   The decedent son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Winhold, was born and reared on a farm near Hagener Station. He received his business education at Gem City Business college, in Quincy and had been associated with the First National Bank for the past 30 years.
    He married Miss Winnifred Whiteford of this city in 1921. She survives together with a sister, Miss Lena Winhold and four brothers, Rudolph, Julius, Eugene and Bodo.
   Mr. Winhold's death is the third to occur in the Winhold family within the past 12 months.
   Mrs. Winhold's brothers, Alex Whiteford of New York City, and Albert Whiteford of Elizabeth, N. J., are expected to arrive for the funeral.

PROMINENT FARMER DIES WILLIAM P. WINHOLD DIED AT JACKSONVILLE HOSPITAL
Funeral was Held Wednesday Noon
Aged Resident Passed Away Friday Morning.
   The death of William P. Winhold, a prominent and well to do young farmer of the south of this city occoured at a Jacksonville Hospital Sunday night about 12 o'clock. Mr. Winhold had been ill about four months and about eight weeks ago was taken to the hospital where his condition gradually grew worse until death relieved his suffering.
   William P. Winhold was born near Arenzville February 1, 1871 the son of Ferdinand and Bertha Winhold and died at a Jacksonville hospital Sunday, April 11, 1915 aged 44 years 2 months and 10 days. He had lived his entire life in this county and received his education in the public schools. He was married in 1901 to Miss Anna Kircher and shortly afterwards moved to his late home south of Virginia. To this union were born two sons, Roy and Virgil, who with the widow survive. Other relatives who live to mourn his loss are his mother, one sister Lena, seven brothers, Rudolph, Julius, Charles, Eugene, Paul, Bodo and Hugo, all of whom reside in Cass County.
   Funeral services were held Wednesday at noon from his late home. Rev. C. E. French officiating. Interment was in Walnut Ridge cemetery.

Bernita Winkelman 1907 - 2000 Yorkville
Bernita Winkelman, 92, of Yorkville and formerly of Plano, died Sunday, Jan. 9, 2000, at the home of her daughter in Yorkville.
   She was born Sept. 17, 1907, in Beardstown, the daughter of Frederick Henry and Marie Ring Nordsiek. She married Lorenz Winkelman Sept. 16, 1928, in Arenzville, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1990.
   She is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise Beauchamp of Meredosia and Lorene (husband, Norman) Nelson of Yorkville; one son, Paul (wife, Jeannie) of Arenzville; 11 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (wife, Dorothy) Nordsiek of Florida and Harold Nordsiek of Beardstown; one sister, Katherine Dotzert of Jacksonville; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one granddaughter; two brothers, Russell and Floyd Nordsiek; and one sister, Wilma Lawler.
   Mrs. Winkelman was a loving mother, grandmother and greatgrandmother who will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Plano. She was formerly employed by Hillside Living Center in Yorkville and, for many years, as a nurse's assistant at Copley Hospital.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville. Burial will follow at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery in Arenzville. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of services at the church today.
   Services at the Larson-Nelson Funeral Home in Yorkville were held at 8 p.m. Monday.
   Memorials may be made in the name of the deceased to the donor's choice.

Services for Eldon Winkleman
   Funeral services for Eldon Winkleman were held at 11 A.M. Wednesday, December 20, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville with Rev. Daniel Bishop and Rev. Mike Winkleman officiating.
   Organist was Judy Roegge. Pianist Trish Sager accompanied vocalists Luke Crawford and Kristen Van Aken as they sang "Homesick" and "I Can Only Imagine." Pallbearers were Bob Witte, Rodney Stock, Mike Stock, Mike Carls, Scott Patterson, and Jim Phelps.
   Cremation rites have been accorded and burial will be held at a later date.
Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown was in charge of arrangements.

Lorenz Winkelman, Cass native, dies
   Yorkville - Lorenz Arthur Winkelman, 86, of Plano, formerly of Yorkville and a native of Cass County, died Monday, Dec. 3, 1990, at Popley Memorial Hospital in Aurora.
   He was born Feb. 23, 1904, in Arenzville, a son of Fred and Louise Meyer Winkelman. He married Bernita Nordsiek on Sept. 16, 1928, in Arenzville.
   He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mary Louise Beauchamp of Meredosia and Mrs. Norman (Lorene) Nelson of Yorkville; a son, Paul (and wife, Jeannie) Winkelman of Arenzville; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, a son-in-law, five brothers and a sister.
   Mr. Winkelman was a farmer and member of First Lutheran Church in Plano. He was a former member of the Kendall County Farm Bureau.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville with burial at St. Peter's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at Larson-Nelson Funeral Home, 410 E. Countryside Parkway, Yorkville, where funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church one hour prior to services in Arenzville.

Paul K. Winkleman, 1935-2007, Arenzville
   Paul K. Winkleman, 71, of Arenzville, died Wednesday afternoon, July 25, 2007, at Graham Hospital in Canton.
   He was born Oct. 29, 1935, in New Berlin, the son of Lorenz Arthur and Bernita W. Nordsiek Winkleman. He married Norma Jean Stinson on March 29, 1964, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville, and she survives.
   He is also survived by one daughter, Melinda (husband, Eric) Smart of Browning; one son, Ronald of Mount Sterling; one grandson, Brett Smart; and two sisters, Mary Beauchamp of Meredosia and Lorene (husband, Norman) Nelson of Yorkville.
   Mr. Winkleman attended school in Meredosia. He was baptized Jan. 19, 1936, in Zion Lutheran Church in Pleasant Plains, and confirmed April 10, 1949, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. He was employed by Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for 20 years and then by Excel Corporation until his retirement. He was actively involved with Boy Scouts of America, serving as a scout master for many years, and he was also an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Vicky Ann Winkelman, 1957-2007, Beardstown
   Vicky Ann Taylor Winkelman, 50, of Paxton, and formerly of Beardstown, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 12, 2007, at her residence.
   She was born Aug. 11, 1957, in Beardstown, the daughter of Delbert G. and Bettie F. Hankins Taylor. She married Larry W. Winkelman on Dec. 31, 1982, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and he survives.
   She is also survived by her mother of Beardstown; one son, Shawn (wife, Missi) Taylor of Beardstown; two daughters, Patricia of Paxton and Kimberly of Mahomet; one brother, Roger Taylor of Beardstown; two sisters, Ruby (husband, Tom) Wright of Elmwood and Susan (husband, Mark) Yost of Belleville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; and one niece.
   Mrs. Winkelman graduated from Beardstown High School in 1975. She and her family have been residents of Paxton for 17 years, where she has been employed with Jumpin' Jax, Casey's General Store, and most recently, Family Dollar Store. She enjoyed making crafts and she was known for her fondness of Americana.

Chester L. Winner - 1912-2003 - Beardstown
   Chester L. Winner, 91, of Beardstown, died Tuesday evening, March 4, 2003, at Heritage Manor South Nursing Home in Beardstown.
   He was born Jan. 7, 1912, in rural Cass County, the son of Isaac Newton and Gertrude Barnes Winner. He married Rosemary Williams July 30, 1938, in Bowling Green, Mo., and she preceded him in death.
   He is survived by one son, Kevin J. of San Antonio; three daughters, Reta A. Winner of Anaheim, Calif., Peggy S. (husband, Elmer) Scheer of Jacksonville, and Cindy R. (husband, Pete) Goshorn of Des Moines, Iowa; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Daisy (husband, Russell) Spindell of Denver; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one son, Harry L.; one daughter, Patricia K. Lawson; two brothers, Lester and James; and one sister, Amy Winger Smith.
   Mr. Winner enjoyed entertaining by playing the banjo, mandolin and the fiddle. He was a member of the OWL Club which would play cards as a past time. He was a retired farmer who knew about hard work.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.

   Ida Bernice Lowe Winner, 96, of Springfield, IL and formerly of Virginia, IL died Monday, February 6, 2012 at her son’s residence in Springfield.
   She was born May 8, 1915 in rual Virginia, IL; the daughter of Richard Colson and Gertrude Ovilette Caywood Lowe. She married Layton Winner on December 27, 1940 in Bowling Green, MO and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1996.
   She is survived by a son, Ronald Winner of Springfield; a sister, Rachel Leona Lowe Norton of Springfield; several nieces and nephews including Martin Borman (wife, Kathy) of Jacksonville, Vauhnee Borman Baptist of Charleston, Ken Norton of Sandusky, OH, Bob Chapman (wife, Lynda) and David Chapman (wife, Anne), both of Bluffs, Keith Chapman (wife, Carol) of Festus, MO, Barbara Chapman of Jacksonville, Alma Traver (husband, Dick) of Washington, and Joyce Atnip (husband, Pete) of Murrayville; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Clara Elizabeth Lowe and Josephine Lucille Lowe Borman.
   Mrs. Winner was a 1933 graduate of Virginia High School and was previously employed at Wagner’s Restaurant in Jacksonville, S.S. Kresge in Sault Ste. Marie, MI, and as a clothing inspector at Camp Ellis, IL. She retired from the office of the Illinois Secretary of State where she worked with the drivers license master files and vehicle titles. She was a loving farm wife and mother who cherished her role as a homemaker. She also enjoyed the outdoors, travel experiences, and caring for the family cats, Whiskers and Lucky.
   Funeral services will be held 12:45 PM Thursday, February 9, 2012 at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm Thursday. Gregory Lind Winner, 61, of Springfield, IL and formerly of Ashland, IL, died Wednesday, February 9, 2011 at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   He was born June 18, 1949 in Springfield, the son of Warren H. and Gladys Hickman Winner.
   He is survived by two brothers, Gary (Marsha) Winner of Petersburg and Timmy (Caroline) Winner of Wichita, KS; two sisters, Connie (Jess) Oliver and Carol Ann Theivagt, both of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, David Alan Winner (surviving wife, Priscilla of Rolla, MO.)
    Mr. Winner was a 1967 graduate of Ashland High School and was employed at McDonald’s in Springfield for over 35 years.

   Ronald Winner, 62, of Springfield, died Saturday, Jan. 31, 2015, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   He was born June 25, 1952, in Jacksonville, the son of Layton and Ida Bernice Lowe Winner.
   He is survived by his first cousins, Martin (Kathy) Borman of Jacksonville, Vauhnee Borman-Baptist of Charleston, Ken Lee Norton (partner, Larry McGlothlin) of Sunbury, OH, Barbara Chapman of Jacksonville, Alma (Dick) Traver of Washington, Joyce Atnip of Murrayville, Bob (Linda) Chapman and David (Ann) Chapman, both of Bluffs, and Keith (Carol) Chapman of Festus, MO; many, many friends; and his beloved cats, Whiskers, Lucky and Petunia. He was preceded in death by his parents.
   Mr. Winner grew up in Virginia, and graduated from Virginia High School in 1970. In 1974, he graduated from Illinois State University with a B.S. in Education. He then received his Master of Arts in Library Science from Rosary College (now Dominican University) in River Forest. He had lived and worked in Monmouth, Galesburg and Springfield. His administrative, consulting and teaching library career spanned more than 37 years, working at the Illinois State Library in Springfield, Western Illinois Library System in Galesburg, Alliance Library System in Galesburg and East Peoria, Illinois State University and Western Illinois University. During his career he had served as State Data Coordinator for Illinois’ Public Library Statistics from 2005-2011, Library Consultant in west central Illinois who encouraged libraries, trustees and administrators to strive for excellence in the service programs from 1982-2005, and the Chair of the Illinois State Library Delivery Advisory Committee from 2013-2014. He was a member of Illinois Library Assn. Task Force to revise public library standards, Illinois School Library Media Assn. Board (Ex-officio), and ILLINET Interlibrary Loan Code Revision Committee. His career honors included Milner Library’s Honored Alum from Illinois State University in October, 2012, and the Francis Keppel Award from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. His hobbies included genealogical research, reading (especially mysteries and Americana), music and attending concerts, road trips and traveling across the U.S., and antiquing.
    A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 2015, at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Visitation will be held 9:30-10:30 a.m. Friday prior to the service. Helen M. Winslow, October 26, 1950-June 16, 2008
   Helen M. Winslow, 57, of Beardstown, formerly of Springfield, died Monday, June 16, 2008.
   She was born October 26, 1950 in Springfield, the youngest daughter of Henry and Grace Sutherd Bean.
   Helen worked as a waitress for 35 years, side-by-side, with her sister, Sandy Peters, with a majority of those years at Nevilles Truck Stop in Springfield. She enjoyed spending time with her dog Tyke, reading and watching the Cubs games on T.V. She became an avid NASCAR fan with Tony Stewart being her favorite. Helen had an ornery sense of humor and a way with words. She most enjoyed spending time and visiting and laughing with her family.
   Surviving are three daughters, Tina (husband, Mark) Peddycoart of Beardstown, Cindy Gulledge of Harristown, and Shelly Neilson of Beardstown; two daughters, Stacey Bareras and Becky Peddycoart of Beardstown; one grandson, Dennis Butcheck of Harristown; one step-granddaughter, Jessica Stock, and one step-great-granddaughter, Alexa Stock, both of Springfield; two brothers, Bill (wife, Linda) Bean, Ed (wife, Pat) Bean; three sisters, Judy (husband, Bill) Pasenko, Delores (husband, Jim) Brown, and Sandy Peters, all of Springfield.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim Bean; and sister, Mary Musser.
   The family will meet with friends from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday, June 19 at Staab Funeral Home in Springfield with funeral services following at 11 a.m. Vaughn Beeman will officiate. Burial will be in Ashland Cemtery.
   Memorials may be made to the Animal Protective League, 1001 Taintor Rd., Springfield, IL 62702.

WISCHER, Walter Robert - March 5, 1917 - November 29, 2007 - Submitted by Carol Orwig
   Walter R. Wischer, 90, of Leesburg, FL died on Thursday, November 29, 2007. Born in Beardstown, IL, he moved to Sandpiper Mobile Home Park, Leesburg in 1978 from Barrington, IL. He was a Research Engineer with Quaker Oats Co., was a member of First United Methodist Church, Eustis, V.F.W., former President of Sandpiper Mobile Home Park & former President of A.O.M. (Association of Operative Millers) in the US, Canada & Mexico. He is survived by son, Dr. James A. Wichser of San Diego, CA; daughter Diane L Wichser of Oregon; five granchildren and three great-grandchildren. Interment will be at Sunsetview Memorial Gardens, Woodstock, VA. Harden Pauli Funeral Home Eustis, FL was in charge of the arrangements. Note: 'Bob' was born in Beardstown March 5, 1917 and a 1936 graduate of BHS.
