Helen E. Duckwiler Toland, 1916-2003, Virginia
   Helen E. Duckwiler Toland, 87, of Virginia, and formerly of Chandlerville, died Thursday afternoon, Oct. 9, 2003, at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born May 8, 1916, in Virginia, the daughter of Ivan and Mamie Hudson Bateman. She married Edgar Duckwiler on Feb. 27, 1935, in Cass County, and he preceded her in death in 1950.
   She is survived by one daughter, Betty Miller of Virginia; one son, Ivan Lee (wife, Patsy) of Lowell, Ark.; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer (wife, June) Bateman of Virginia; two sisters, Dottie Stiles of Beardstown and Marlene (husband, Vernon) Harris of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by one daughter, Joan Quick; one son, Thomas; and two brothers, Robert and William Bateman.
   Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Chandlerville Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Monday at Lintner-Buchanan Funeral Home in Chandlerville. Mary K. Treadway, 1932-2007, Beardstown
   Mary Katherine Buck Treadway, 75, of Beardstown, died Thursday afternoon, July 19, 2007, at her residence.
   She was born March 5, 1932, in Hagener Township, the daughter of Harry and Helen Keil Buck Sr. She married Carlos Eugene Treadway Sr. on Sept. 8, 1948, at St. John's Lutheran Church parsonage in Beardstown, and he survives.
   She is also survived by one son, Carlos Jr. (wife, Susan) of Beardstown; one daughter, Carlene (husband, Tom) Alcorn of Beardstown; four grandchildren, Christopher Treadway of Beaverton, Ore., Erica Treadway of Springfield and Jeremy (wife, Laura Barnett) and Kory Alcorn, both of Beardstown; four sisters, Grace Pilger and Marguerite Summey, both of Beardstown, Carolyn (husband, Bill) Isham of Springfield and Janet (husband, Jim) Faris of Tallahassee, Fla.; one brother, Harry (wife, Judy) Buck Jr. of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers-in-law, Kermit Pilger and Bob Summey.
   Mrs. Treadway attended school at St. John's Lutheran School in Beardstown and Beardstown High School and she was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown. She was one of the first volunteers to join Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice and she continued to serve as a volunteer for seven years.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Southern Baptist Church or Cass Schuyler Area Hospice. TREIBERT, William - Ashland Sentinel, Ashland, Illinois, August 5, 1899 - Submitted by Marcia Cox
   William Treibert of Arenzville, a member of Comp. I, 5th Ill. Vol. during the war with Spain, committed suicide by shooting himself in the head Friday of last week on the north east corner of he square in Jacksonville. He had lost $65 playing poker. He had gone to Jacksonville on the way to Kansas City to seek employment. He was 23 and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Treibert of Arenzville. The remains were sent home after a coroner inquest was held.

Dean Trenter, 59 years, of Virginia, died Thursday afternoon, January 3, 2008, at his residence.
   He was born Oct. 15, 1948, in Pittsfield, the son of Virgil "Bud" and Shirley Staley Trenter.
   He is survived by his mother of Virginia; two sisters, Cheryl (husband, Larry) Lawrence of Chatham and Lori (husband, Steve) Thomas of Virginia; five nieces and nephews; and his former wife and companion, Madonna Raines of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his father.
   Mr. Trenter was a 1966 graduate of Springfield High School. He served as manager of Trenter Hardware in Virginia for several years. He enjoyed coin collecting, reading newspapers, driving Corvettes, playing cards, and spending time with his niece.
   Cremation rites will be accorded.
   Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. Private graveside services will be held at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia at a later date. The family will meet friends one hour prior to services Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society. Louis C. Trenter - 1922-2002
   Louis C. Trenter, 80, of Northglenn, Colo., and formerly of Virginia, and Rolling Meadows, IL died Nov. 21, 2002 at the Castle Garden Care Center in Northglenn, Colo.
   He was born July 9, 1922 in Virginia, the son of Arthur and Ellen Simmerman Trenter. He married Miriam C. Thompson Dec. 22, 1946 in Yorkville, and she preceded in death Dec. 23, 1974.
   He is survived by three daughters, Marilyn (husband, Art) Roberson of Lawrenceville, Ga., Ruth (husband, Wayne) Streck of Neenah, Wis., and Karen (husband, Patrick) Givens of Westminster, Colo.; six grandchildren, Sarah Streck, Kate Lennington, Jerry Streck, Corrine Streck, Matt Roberson, and Brandon Roberson; and several nieces and nephews.
   He was also survived by one sister, Mary Ellen Finn, of Virginia, who followed in death April 18, 2003. He was preceded in death by one brother, James Trenter.
   Mr. Trenter was a 1940 graduate of Virginia High School and a 1947 graduate of the University of Illinois, College of Commerce and Business Administration. He served with the US Army during WW II. He retired after a 42 career with Bankers Life and Casualty in Chicago. He was a long time, active charter member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Palatine. An original resident of Rolling Meadows, he resided in the community for 44 years. A devoted husband and father, he had a passion for ballroom dancing, gardening, and investing.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2003 at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.Memorial gifts are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice.    Berniece Elizabeth, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Tucker, died yesterday morning of typhoid fever at the age of two years, six months. Funeral services will be at the Baptist Church, Sunday, at 2:30 o'clock by the pastor, Rev. R.H. Claxton and the burial will be made in the Ashland Cemetery.

   Shirley Jean Trenter, 88, of Virginia, IL, died Wednesday evening, Aug. 17, 2016, at her home.
   She was born April 24, 1928, in Tallula, IL, the daughter of Powell and Betty Flynn Staley. She married Virgil “Bud” Trenter in January of 1947, in Winchester, IL, and he preceded her in death on March 22, 1996.
   Shirley is survived by two daughters, Cheryl (Larry) Lawrence of Chatham, and Lori (Steve) Thomas of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Staff Sgt. David Lawrence of Petersburg, Cari Lawrence Hudy of Newport Beach, CA, and Sophie Thomas of Jacksonville; twin great-granddaughters, Alexandra and Ava Hudy; and one sister, Geraldine Ramsay. She was preceded in death by her son, Dean Trenter; and one sister, Betty Lee Boker.
   Shirley and her husband Bud ran Trenter’s Hardware Store for many years. She worked 6 days a week and enjoyed every minute. She reluctantly sold the store after her son Dean’s death and her 80th birthday.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. In lieu of a service, friends and family are invited to attend a “Celebration of Life” held at Shirley’s home on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 from 2-4 p.m. Memorial gifts are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice. Hold Meta Tuecke Rites November 21, 1977
   Miss Meta Louise Tuecke, 85; of 401 W. Second Street, Beardstown, died at 4:15 p.m. Friday at Beardstown Hospital.
   Bom September 12, 1892 in Sangamon Valley, Cass county, she was the daughter of Ernest and Caroline Schaad Tuecke.
   She is survived by one brother Edwin Tuecke and cne sister Mrs. Clarence (Edith) Jokisch of Virginia; several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Arthur.
   She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a Charter member of Aid and Mission Society. Formerly she was very active in Beardstown Hospital Auxiliary and the Horne Bureau.
   Funeral services were held. at 2: 00 p.m, Sunday at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Louis C. Knief officiating. Burial was in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery.
   Memorials may be given to St. John Radio Broadcast or Heart Fund.
   Pallbearers were Harold Kuhlmann, Richard Scheer, Norman Milbrant, Wilbur Hood, Byron Tieman and Harry Buck.
   Organist was Mrs. Helen Carls. Mrs. Mickey Paul sang "The Lord's My Shepherd" and "Jesus Savior, Pilot me". Mr. Norman,Venz prayed the Lord's Prayer in German.

TUREMAN, Mrs. J.F. - The Republican Gazette, January 7, 1921 - Submitted by Carol Orwig
   Mrs. J.F. Tureman, well known resident of this city, died shortly before noon Saturday, at the family home. Mrs. Tureman had been a resident of this city a greater part of the time for the past 20 years, since her marriage to John F. Tureman on February 28, 1899 and endeared herself to a large number of our people.
   Lucy Cook Tureman was born August 16, 1878, near Tolono, IL. She lived most of her live until her marriage in Logan County. Mrs. And Mrs. Tureman had on daughter, Mary Jane, who died three years ago. Besides her husband, she is survived by her aged parents, four sisters, Mrs. A.C. Lootsch of Southey, Canada, Mrs Maud Edwards of Williamsville, Mrs. Mabel Zelle of Lake Fork, Mrs. Lester Stahl of Niantic and two brothers, John and Herbert Cook of Southey Canada.
   Interment was made in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

TURNER, David Russell - January 2, 1955 - July 26, 2008
David Russell Turner, 53, of Virginia, IL passed away Sat., July 26, 2008 at the Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, IL. He was born Jan. 2, 1955 in Springfield, IL the son of Russell C. and Donna B. Deverman Turner. He married Melba C. Steigleder, May 29, 1993 in Bath, IL and she survives.
    Mr. Turner was a member of the Virginia United Methodist Church, the BLK Optimist Club, he had been a little league coach in Virginia and he had a great love for his family farm. He loved fishing, farming and driving trucks. He was a loving husband, father and family man. A Chandlerville High School graduate, he was an internal affairs officer for the State of Illinois department of Corrections working in Jacksonville for 24 years.
   In addition to his wife, he is survived by his mother, Donna, of Chandlerville, one son, Adam Turner of Virginia, one daughter, Michelle (Randy) Neumann of Springfield, one grandson, Mason Tyler Neumann and two brothers, Michael (Sherie) Turner and Steven (Lori) Turner both of Chandlerville. He was preceded in death by his father.
   Services will be held at 10:00 am Wed. July 30, 2008 at the Virginia United Methodist Church conducted by Rev. William Braswell. Burial will be in the Walnut Grove Cemetery at Virginia. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 pm Tues. at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville.    Emily Elizabeth Turner, 97, of Virginia, died Thursday, March 13, 2008, at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   She was born July 9, 1910, in Fulton County, the daughter of Lawrence A. and Bertha Viola Foster Snowden. She married Lyle Turner on Dec. 27, 1928, and he preceded in death in 1984.
   She is survived by a grandson, James of Seven Oaks, near London, England; six great-granddaughters; and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by two sons, Phillip and Albert; and one granddaughter, Kathi Schuler.
   Mrs. Turner was an Astoria High School graduate and attended Gem City College in Quincy. She retired in 1975 following many years of employment with Charles Thomas Publishing Company of Springfield. She was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church where she previously served as church organist for 17 years.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Virginia United Methodist Church in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call one hour prior to services Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Virginia United Methodist Church or Walker Nursing Home Resident Activity Fund.    Robert Lee Turner, 58, of Jacksonville, passed away Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at his residence.
   He was born June 9, 1955, in Jacksonville, the son of Robert Lewis Turner and Beulah Mae Otken and they preceded him in death. His step-mother, Nettie L. Turner of Jacksonville, survives.
   He is also survived by his wife, Ann Mitchell Turner; daughter, Carrie Lynn Turner (fiancé, John Cooper) of Chapin; step-daughter, Misty Mitchell Thayer (spouse, Adam Thayer) of Wheeling; two step-grandchildren, Liam and Layla Thayer; six sisters, Linda Newingham of Virginia, Mona Turner, Toni Hayes and Tammy Turner, all of Jacksonville, Rita Moffitt of Ashland, and Joan Curry of Pleasant Plains; seven brothers, Richard A. Turner of Ashland, Larry Turner of Philadelphia, Lewis Dean Turner and Danny Paul "Duke" Turner, both of Jacksonville, Kevin Curry of Virginia, John Curry of Springfield, and Ronald Curry of Ashland; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Billy Joe Turner; a sister, Rose Anna Turner; and his stepson, David Neal Mitchell.
   Bob attended Jefferson Grade School, Tuner Junior High, and Jacksonville High School. He was a lifelong resident of Jacksonville, and worked as a laborer in the concrete business, along with two of his brothers, Dean and Duke Turner. Bob was a very hard worker who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and friend. He loved spending time with his family and his dog, and will truly be missed by all.
   Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Jacksonville East Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family in care of Mona Turner. Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville is in charge of arrangements. Condolences may be left at www.buchanancody.com.
