John M. Staake, 1962-2008, Beardstown
John M. Staake, 45, of Beardstown, died Friday morning, Feb. 22, 2008, at Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville.
He was born June 10, 1962, in Jacksonville, the son of Dick and Jo Smith Staake. He married Sandra Lea Mathis, in Beardstown, and she preceded him in death July 27, 2001.
He is survived by his mother of Arenzville; three sons Justin and Dustin Mathis and Jared Staake, all of Beardstown; two grandsons, Gavin Canada and Marion Mathis; three brothers, Jeff (wife, Kim) Staake of Arenzville, David VanWinkle of Canon City, Colo., and Rick (wife, Debbie) Griffin of Bentonville, Ark.; one sister, Christa Gentry of Dallas; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Staake was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Winchester and was formerly employed with Excel Corporation in Beardstown. He formerly served as a bartender in his parent's tavern, "D.J.'s," in Arenzville. With an entertaining sense of humor, he was a sports enthusiast, enjoyed fishing and truly loved his sons.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to the children of John Staake. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

Della M. Stark, 1926-2007, Beardstown
Della Mae Stark, 81, of Rushville, died Saturday morning, June 2, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
She was born March 28, 1926, in rural Philadelphia, the daughter of Alvin and Mae Walton Black. She married Earl Stark, and he preceded her in death in 2001.
She is survived by one sister, Frances Black of Rushville; four nieces; and two nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Iva and Nadine Black and Glenna Lyles; and two brothers, Walter and Harry Black.
Mrs. Stark attended Virginia Schools and later worked in the kitchen at Restmore Nursing Home in Morton until her retirement.
Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet with friends from 9-10 a.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

Netttie L. Steele
Nettie L. Steele, 90 of Camp Point and previously of Beardstown, died Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Timber Point Nursing Home in Camp Point.
She was born January 22, 1924 in Schuyler County, the daughter of Joshua and Fannie Miller Knous. She married Wilbur E. Steele and he preceded her in death on January 3, 1966.
Surviving is her grandchildren Mary Pate and Susan Steele both of Beardstown, and Mike (wife Debbie) Haynes of Tennessee; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her daughter Rosie Oettle, two brothers William Henry and Ernest Alvon Knous, and six sisters Bessie Mae, Dollie Jane, Jessie Fielden, Dasie Amelia, Carrie Viola, and Mary Edna Knous.
Nettie graduated with perfect attendance from Pleasant View Schools. She enjoyed all kinds of animals and flowers. Most of all she loved being with her family.
Funeral services will be held at 3:15 PM Saturday March 1, 2014 at Messerer Cemetery in Frederick. The family will meet with friends from 1:30-3:00 PM Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown

Lloyd Steigleder (1917-2009)
Virginia, IL - Lloyd G. Steigleder, 91 of Virginia, IL formerly of Bath, IL passed away at 9:15 am Sat. Dec. 19, 2009 at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville, IL. He was born Dec. 30, 1917 in Bath, the son of George and Nettie Bishop Allen Steigleder. He married Darlene M. Lane Nov. 21, 1951 in Havana and she preceded him in death Dec. 11, 1999.
Mr. Steigleder was a veteran of the US Army during WWII where he served in the Army Air Corps. He worked as a machinist at Caterpillar, Inc. for many years and also owned and operated his own TV sales and service repair company. He was a graduate of Bath-Lynchburg High School.
He is survived by one daughter, Melba Turner of Virginia, IL and one son, Jeff Lloyd Steigleder of Birmingham, AL. Five grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters, along with his wife and parents.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at the Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville. .Burial will be in the Bath Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jacksonville Convalescent Center Activity Fund. Dorothy A. Stelte, 1918-2007, Ashland
Dorothy A. Stelte, 89, of Virginia, and formerly of Ashland, died Sunday morning, Feb. 4, 2007, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
She was born Jan. 28, 1918, in rural Pleasant Plains, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Huelsmann Stelte.
She is survived by one sister, Frances Reside of Springfield; several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Eloise Dullanty and Marie Stelte, and three brothers, Joseph, Clarence and Frank Stelte.
Miss Stelte was a homemaker and worked several years as a clerk and bookkeeper for Nollsch Hardware Store in Ashland. She was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church and the Altar Society.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, with burial 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Calvary Cemetery in Springfield. STEPHENS, Jimmie Ray
Jimmie Ray Stephens, 76, of Beardstown, IL passed away at 11:37 p.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL. He was born on Sunday, April 29, 1934 in Rushville, IL the son of Arthur R. & Elsie Inez Clements Stephens. He married Patsy Wessel McLain on June 1, 1974 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, IL. She survives, along with (2) sons: Tony McLain of Gifford, IL, Tim McLain of Franklin, IL, (1) daughter: Amy Hageman of Arenzville, IL, (9) grandchildren: Tyler, Travis, Taylor, Trevor, Laci, Claire & Tanner McLain, Adam, & Alec Hageman, (1) sister: Nancy Stauffer & husband Bob of Rushville, IL, several nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, (1) sister: Doris Schoonover, (1) brother: Harold "Bud" Stephens. Jimmie attended Rushville schools graduating from high school in 1953. He graduated from Western IL University in 1957 with a teaching degree. He served in the U.S. Army from Dec. 6, 1957 to Dec. 4, 1959 at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO and then 3 years in inactive reserves. After serving his country he began his teaching career in Schuyler County serving schools in Camden Brooklyn and Rushville Jr. High and High School for 38 years. During this time he enjoyed working part-time in several area men's clothing stores including J. C. Penney, Paul Stephen's Clothing Store, and Huss Men's Wear. He purchased Gain Greenhouse in Rushville in the mid 1970's and named it Mr. Stephens' Greenhouse. After retiring from teaching he worked at several local grocery stores, most recently at County Market in Rushville, IL. Jimmie was an avid enthusiast of Thunderbird cars, purchasing 3 new cars in 1960, 1962 and 1964. He was a favorite history and social studies teacher among all his students over the years. He loved growing flowers, gardening, and cooking, but most of all he loved his family. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2010 at Worthington Funeral Home with Mr. David Haney officiating. Private family inturment will be held at Beardstown Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Military Services by the U. S. Army Honors Detail and Schuyler Post #4. Memorials may be given to Schuyler Co. Humane Society.

Catherine Kinney Steuernagle - April 7, 1858 - July 19, 1936
Last rites for Mrs. Catherine Kinney Steuernagle were held at St. Luke's Catholic Church in this city Tuesday at 9 a.m. by Rev. V.C. Goyke in charge of services.
Casket bearers were W.B. Finn, Thomas Finn, John T. Dooling, James Maslin, Sr., Henry McDonald and Martin Mahoney. Interment was in Beardstown Cemetery.
Mrs. Steuernagle was the daughter of John and Isabelle McKillip Kinney and was born in Bluff Springs, April 7, 1858 with her twin Rosana. She passed away Sunday morning in a Jacksonville hospital. She was married about 25 years ago to Werner Steuernagle of Beardstown who preceded in death many years ago. She then made her home with friends.
She is survived by a brother, Thomas Kinney of here.

William Thomas “Chip” Stevens, 51, of Ashland, died Sunday, October 7, 2012.
He was born June 16, 1961, in Springfield, the son of William Wayne and Phyllis J. Morrow Stevens.
He is survived by his parents of Ashland; two daughters, Kayla Nicole Stevens (Brad Yager) of Athens and Morgan Elizabeth Stevens of Athens; a step-daughter, Michelle Enlow Voudrie of Athens; one sister, Julie (husband, Marshall) Jokisch of Ashland; niece and nephew Whitney and Logan Jokisch, both of Ashland; a special uncle, Raymond Stevens of California; and several cousins and aunts.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis Morrow, and Joseph and Carrie Stevens.
Chip was a member of Sheet Metal Workers Local 218 and was a skilled craftsman. A talented artist, he was good with his hands and enjoyed building things for his family and friends. He loved riding his motorcycle and spending time with his family; he especially loved his daughters.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 am Friday, October 12, 2012, at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland, with burial at Pleasant Plains Cemetery. H.W. Stewart Funeral Is Held Here Tuesday - Virginia man passed away Sunday at Hospital in Beardstown. Funeral services for Harvey Wood Stewart, 85, who passed away Sunday after a brief illness at the Schmitt Memorial Hospital in Beardstown, were held Tuesday afternoon at the Pentecostal church here with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Mr. Stewart had been ill at his home here for about two weeks and death was due to pneumonia. He had been a patient at the hospital for about a week. The decedent was born December 25, 1854 and was 85 years, 5 months, and 28 days of age at the time of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Steward, and the following children: James of Fair Oaks, Ind.; Vassell Lee, Chester, Alfred and Latney, of Virginia; Mrs. Zilphia Preston of Missborough, Tenn.; Mrs. Ollie Miller and Amos Stewart of Springfield; Mrs. Nellie Norris of Philadelphia, Ill.; Mrs. Nannie Waddell of Ashland and Commodore of Canton.

Michael A. 'Mike' Stinson, 1949-2007, Arenzville
Michael A. "Mike" Stinson, 58, of Arenzville, died Sunday afternoon, Dec. 30, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
He was born June 15, 1949, in Beardstown, the on of Samuel "Aim" and Gladys Lawson Stinson. He married Patricia "Patty" Glydewell on Feb. 14, 1971, at First Lutheran Church in Galesburg, and she survives.
He is also survived by his mother of Arenzville; three children, Christy (husband, Bill) Toland of Rushville, Matthew (wife, Katy) stationed at Eielson AFB, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Sherry (husband, Sean) Grable of Arenzville; and one stepgranddaughter Audra Toland. He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Stinson graduated from Triopia High School in 1968 and then served in the U.S. Army in Vietnam. He worked for a short time in Beardstown at Bohn Aluminum and Trinity Steel before beginning his employment at Oscar Mayer and Excel Corporation for over 20 years. He retired from Triopia Jr.-Sr. High School in May 2006 after 13 years of loyal service as head custodian. He was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Arenzville and the Arenzville American Legion Post 604. He enjoyed hunting, mowing the lawn, and visiting with family and friends. He took pride in his country and loved those who served it.

Bertha Stock, 80, Of Arenzville Dies Friday
Mrs. Bertha Mae Stock, 80, a rural Arenzville resident, died at 9 p.m. Friday at her home.
She was born August 18, 1891 near Chapin, the daughter of William and Margaret Ratliff Brockhouse.
She married Philip Stock Feb. 28, 1912. He died in 1957.
Surviving are two daughters, Margaret Crawford of Jacksonville and Ruth Stock, who lives at the family home; four sons, Charles of Virginia, Warren, Robert and Dean of Arenzville.
Twenty-two grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive.
A son, Paul, preceded her in death as did two brothers, Chester and Ellis, and a sister, Alma Taylor. The deceased was the last of her immediate family.
She was a member of the Arenzville United Methodist Church and the WSCS of the church.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Monday at Arenzville United Methodist church with Rev. Delmar Redmon officiating. Interment will be in Arenzville North Cemetery. The remains will be taken to the church at 1:30 p.m.
The family will meet friends at Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville 7 to 9 p.m. this evening.
Services were held Monday, May 29, 1972. Organ selections were played by William Huffman. The following grandsons were pallbearers: Richard, Phillip, Bill, Douglas, James, Stanley, Michael and Rodney. The granddaughters were in charge of the flowers, Linda Snow, Canda Fernandes, Yvonne Patterson, Mary Simmons, Jean Maurer, Janet McMillen and Kathy Stock. Burial was in North cemetery at Arenzville.

Charles A. Stock, 97, of rural Arenzville, IL died Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.
He was born August 31, 1916 in Cass County, the son of Phillip and Bertha Brockhouse Stock. He married Helen Marie Lynn on December 5, 1945 in Havana, IL and she preceded him in death on February 13, 1995.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary Simmons (Lanny) of Brentwood, TN and Jeanie Marie Brown (James) of rural Ashland; a son, William Stock (Cathy) of rural Virginia; five grandchildren, Jason Simmons of Normal, Ami Reitmeier (Mel) of rural Tolono, Shane Sorrill (Sarah) of Morrisonville, Julia Pucci (Ben) of Algonquin, and Kayla McElfresh (Eric) of Champaign; nine great grandchildren, Ryan, Emma and Nathan Reitmeier, Wade and Case Sorrill, Griffin and Duncan Pucci, and Mason and Sydney McElfresh; a brother, Dean Stock (Wanda) of Arenzville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by five siblings, Paul Stock (surviving wife, Marion of Arenzville), Margaret Crawford, Warren Stock, Robert Stock, and Ruth Stock.
Charles graduated from Arenzville High School and served with the US Navy during WW II aboard a minesweeper, the USS Density. He returned to the area where he worked as a mechanic, owning and operating a garage in Virginia with Melvin Ring. In addition, they sheared sheep in their spare time. In 1953, he began a long and distinguished career as a grain and livestock farmer in the Cass County area.
He was a member of the Virginia United Methodist Church and the Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau. He formerly served as a 4-H leader and a member of the Cass County Fair Board. He faithfully attended the annual Navy reunions sponsored by his USS Density shipmates. In his spare time, Charles enjoyed country music performances and drinking coffee with friends at the Depot.
Funeral services will be held 12 noon Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 10:30 am Saturday until the time of services. Stock Funeral To Be At 2 P. M. Friday
Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Stock, 71, Bluff Springs, who died Wednesday morning at Schmitt Memorial Hospital, will be at 2 p. m. Friday at St. John's Lutheran in Bluff Springs.
The Rev. Lowell Buss, pastor, will officiate. The body will lie in state at the church from 1 p. m. until the hour of the service. Burial will be in City Cemetery.
The family will meet friends from 7:30 to 9 this evening at Cline's Funeral Home.
Mrs. Stock was born in Arenzville Township April 30, 1893, a daughter of Albert and Mary Hessler Korte.
She was married to Arthur Stock September 3, 1919 at St. Peter's Lutheran parsonage near Arenzville.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Arthur, who died August 25, 1950.
She is survived by one daughter, Mrs. James Fischer; two granddaughters Sandra and Barbara, and one grandson, Allen, all of Arenzville: a sister Mrs. Louis Sweatman of Virginia, a brother, Rudy Korte of near Beardstown, and a number of nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church of Bluff Springs.

Marian Bernice Stock, 97, of rural Arenzville, IL died Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at her residence.
She was born July 8, 1918 in Scott County, IL, the daughter of Henry Johann and Martha Olinda Lovekamp Schone. She married Paul Eugene Stock on June 8, 1938 in Chapin, IL and he preceded her in death on April 21, 1968.
She is survived by eight sons, Richard Stock (Mary Jane) of Virginia, Phillip Stock of Brimfield, Kenneth Stock (Vicki) of Woodson, Gary Stock (Deana) of Beardstown, Roger Stock (Karen Parrish) of Virginia, Byron Stock (Sally) of Arenzville, David Stock (Juli Clark) of rural Beardstown, Chris Stock of Virginia; 27 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; a brother, Wayne Schone (Janice) of Arenzville; three sisters, Mildred Beard (deceased husband, Myron) of Arenzville, Wanda Stock (Dean) of Arenzville, and Doris Hackman (Delbert) of Havana; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Margaret Yvonne Patterson and her husband, Stanley; a sister, Anna Sullivan(deceased husband, Joe); four brothers, Aaron Schone, Floyd Schone (deceased wife, Maxine), Lloyd Schone (deceased wife, Marjorie), and Henry Schone Jr. (surviving wife, Dorothy of Florida).
The family extends their thanks to Marian’s dedicated caregivers for their faithful service including Ellen, Lois, Helene Sue, Janet, Sandy, Phyllis, Athena, Tammy, Joyce, and Debbie.
Marian was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville and devoted her life to caring for her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed flower gardening, pets, and the wildlife that roamed her neighborhood.

Paul Stock of Arenzville Dies
Paul E Stock, 55, of rural Arenzville died at 1 p.m. Sunday (April 21, 1968) at Schmitt Memorial Hospital.
He was born near Arenzville, August 18, 1912, the son of Phillip and Bertha Brockhouse Stock. He married Marian Schone on June 8, 1938, who survives.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Also surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Stanley (Yvonne) Patterson, Washington, Ill., eight sons, Richard Stock of Virginia, Specialist 4th Class Phillip Stock serving with the Army Medical Corps in Vietnam, Private Kenneth Stock, stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., Gary, Roger, Byron, David and Chris Stock all at home.
Three grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Bertha Stock of rural Arenzville, two sisters, Mrs. Margaret Crawford of Jacksonville and Miss Ruth Stock of rural Arenzville; four brothers, Charles of Virginia, Warren, Robert and Dean of Arenzville and numerous nieces and nephews, and two aunts.
Services for Mr. Stock will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30 at the Cline Funeral Home in Beardstown.

Philip F. Stock, 66 Dies at Home Near Arenzville
Philip Frederick Stock, 66, retired farmer of R.F.D No. 2 of Arenzville, died at his home at 11 o'clock last night (August 6, 1957). He had been in failing health for the past two years, but his death was sudden.
Stock was born February 9, 1891, northeast of Arenzville, son of Chris and Elizabeth Hegener Stock. He was baptized in St. Peter's Lutheran church near Arenzville. February 28, 1912 he married Bertha Brockhouse of Concord.
He is survived by his wife, five sons, Warren, Robert and Paul of Arenzville, Charles and Dean of Virginia; two daughters, Miss Ruth Stock at home and Mrs. Floyd Crawford of Virginia; 21 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Melinda Weeks of Arenzville; and one aunt, Mrs. Eva Lambert of Springfield.
The body was taken to Cline's Funeral Home. The body will be at the Stock home Thursday afternoon where friends may call.
Services will be in the Methodist church in Arenzville at 3:30 o'clock Friday. Rev. Robert Birdsell will conduct services.
Philip Stock Funeral Held at Arenzville.
Largely attended funeral services for Philip F. Stock were held at the Arenzville Methodist church Aug. 9 at 3:30 o'clock. The Rev. Robert Birdsell, pastor of the church officiated. William Huffman was the organist.
The many floral offerings were cared for by Mrs. Doris Peck, Mrs. Katie Huffman, Mrs. Rosemary Fischer and Mrs. Helen Bingham, and three of Mr. Stock's granddaughters, Mrs. Peggy Fernandes, Miss Yvonne Stock and Miss Linda Crawford.
Pallbearers were Victor Funk, George Huffman, Clifford Miller, Leslie Wildt, William Ring and Edwin Ommen.

Robert Lee Stock, 88, of Arenzville died Sunday, January 13, 2013, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville. He was born April 24, 1924 in Monroe Township, the son of Phillip and Bertha Brockhouse Stock. Surviving is his close friend June Nobis of Arenzville; two sons James (wife F. Sue) Stock of Arenzville and R. Douglas (wife Judy) Stock of Kingsford, MI; two grandsons Robert J. (wife Deborah) Stock of Mount Dora, FL and Aaron L. Stock of Orlando, FL; two great grandsons Devin and Parker Stock of Orlando, FL; two brothers Charles Stock of Virginia and Dean Stock of Arenzville; and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers Paul and Warren, and two sisters Margaret Crawford and Ruth Stock. Bob retired after serving 38 years as Arenzville Road Commissioner and 17 years as an employee with Illinois Secretary of State. He was a US Army Veteran, a member of the Arenzville American Legion, a 64 year member of B.P.O. Elks Lodge #1007 in Beardstown, and he served as Democratic County Chairman for 30 years. When asked “How are you?” he always replied “Perfect” and he was! Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 AM Friday, January 18, 2013, at Arenzville North Cemetery with military honors to be presented by Arenzville American Legion. The family will meet with friends from 5 until 7 PM Thursday at Sager Funeral Home with an Elks Memorial Service being held at 7 PM. Memorials have been suggested to Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy. Ruth E. Stock, 1926-2007, Arenzville
Ruth E. Stock, 80, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Arenzville, died Saturday evening, March 17, 2007, at Modern Care Nursing Center in Jacksonville.
She was born April 16, 1926 in the Monroe Community of Cass County, the daughter of Philip and Bertha Brockhouse Stock.
She is survived by three brothers, Charles (deceased wife Helen Marie), Robert and Dean (wife, Wanda), all of Arenzville, and 20 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul (surviving wife, Marian of Arenzville) and Warren (surviving wife, Lois of Arenzville), one sister, Margaret Crawford; one niece; and one nephew.
Ms. Stock lived on the family farm in the Monroe Community in Cass County her entire life before moving to Jacksonville in 1992. She was a member of the Arenzville United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Monroe Household Science Club, and Evergreens.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at Arenzville United Methodist Church in Arenzville, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. The family will meet friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials are suggested to Arenzville United Methodist Church. Warren L. Stock - 1921-2000 - Arenzville
Warren L. Stock, 78 of Arenzville, died Monday morning, Jan. 24, 2000 at his residence in rural Arenzville.
He was born May 21, 1921, near Arenzville, the son of Phillip and Bertha Brockhouse Stock. He married Lois Lovekamp, July 19, 1946 in Owensboro, Ky., and she survives in Arenzville.
He is also survived by two sons, Stan (wife, Joyce) of Arenzville and Allen of Concord; a daughter, Janet (husband Dean) McMillen of Arenzville; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Charles, Robert and Dean all of Arenzville; a sister, Ruth of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one grandson, a sister Margaret Crawford and a brother Paul.
Mr. Stock graduated from Virginia High School in the class of 1939. He served in the 9th division of the Army Air Crops in World War II from 1941 until 1945. During the war, he was stationed in England where he was a mechanic working primarily on B-17 fighters. Upon his return from military service Mr. Stock farmed in the Cass County area until his retirement in 1992. He served on the Triopia School Board and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, the Arenzville American Legion, Cass-Morgan Farm Bureau and ATA in Arenzville.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. Family will meet friends from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. The remains will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Memorials are suggested to Jacksonville Gambro Dialysis, Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville or the Arenzville American Legion.
STOCK SERVICES - Funeral services for Warren L Stock were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, 2000, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville with Rev. Daniel Bishop officiating. Organist Judy Roegge played selected hymns and accompanied Mr. Stock's grandson, Matt Stock, as he sang "The Lord's Prayer". Pallbearers were Richard Stock, Roger Stock, Doug Stock, Bill Stock, Kenny Stock, Mike Stock and Rodney Stock. Honorary pallbearers were grandchildren, Chad Stock, Matt Stock, Jeremy Stock, Jason Stock, Angela Stock, Dean McMillen and Kenny McMillen. Burial was at Arenzville North Cemetery where the Arenzville American Legion Post held military rites. Those participating were Ronnie Burrus, Lorenz Kleinschmidt, Jim Bears, Mike Stinson and Wib Lippert, rifle squad; Charles Crum, chaplin, Gib Harbin, sergeant of arms; and Orville Blum, Gene Farmer, Clyde Ginder and Kenny Roegge, color guard. *quot;Taps" was play by Gerald Roegge. Aileen I. Stocker, 1912-2003, Beardstown
Aileen I. Stocker, 91, of Beardstown, died Sunday evening, Feb. 23, 2003, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born Feb. 1, 1912, in Jacksonville, the daughter of John and Sarah Thompson Anderson. She married Dalton L. Stocker April 13, 1937, in Havana, and he preceded her in death Dec. 10, 1989.
She is survived by two nephews, Lawrence Angelo of Harrick and Aaron Stocker of Beardstown; two nieces, Betty Daley of Decatur and Beverly Welbourne of Beardstown; two great-nieces; seven great-great-nieces; and her very special friend and caretaker, Fred Perry. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Connie Lee Stocker Quinn in 1990; and two sisters, Isabel Anderson and Lucille Wilcoxen.
Mrs. Stocker loved car riding, eating out and yard sales. She was a Licensed Practicing Nurse and an avid Democrat with strong convictions to the Democratic Party. She may be most remembered by being the owner of Bridge Cafe which was located next to the Beardstown Post Office.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. today at the funeral home. James V. Stoffer, 72, who was a patient in Schmitt Memorial hospital for two and one-half weeks before his discharge Wednesday afternoon, died at 2 o'clock this morning at his home, 1203 East Ninth street.He was in failing health the last several years. Mr. Stoffer was born April 3, 1879 at Ripley, Ill., a son of Lloyd and Ellen Stoffer, both of whom preceded him in death. He was employed on the railroad in Beardstown for several years and worked on the North Western railroad in South Pekin until his retirement in 1945. For the past 35 years he maintained his home here at 1203 East Ninth street. Surviving are his wife, Edith Stoffer, and one sister, Miss Tessie Stoffer of Davenport, Iowa. The body was removed to Cline's Funeral home. Funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow.

Chandleville, IL - Sarah M. Stone, 101, of Chandlerville passed away at 8:30 pm Monday, Nov. 8, 2010 at the Mason District Hospital in Havana. She was born Sept. 13, 1909 near Mason City the daughter of Elzra and Lucy Adams Stone. She married Frank Lloyd Stone July 25, 1931 in Mason City and he preceded her in death May 15, 1979.
Mrs. Stone is survived by four sons; Lloyd, Lyle, and Donald all of Chandlerville and Kenneth of Morton, IL; two daughters; Doris Majewski of Peru, IL and JoAnne LeRoy of Rancho Cordova, CA. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren. One sister Dorothy Behem of Newton, IL also survives. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren, one great granchild, four brothers and four sisters including her twin sister.
She was a 1928 graduate of Easton High School and a home maker all of her adult life.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday, Nov. 11, 2010 at the Hurley Funeral Home in Havana conducted by Rev. Jim Waterman with burial to follow in the Laurel Hill Cemetery at Havana. Ericka J. Streeter, 1969-2007, Beardstown
Ericka J. Streeter, 38, of Springfield, and formerly of Beardstown, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 26, 2007, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born June 22, 1969, in St. Petersburg, Fla., the daughter of Walter Mefford and Judy Cooper. She married Leon Streeter, in Springfield, and he survives.
She is also survived by her father and stepmother, Walter and Carol Mefford of Meredosia; two sons, Joshua and Jerid Montgomery, both of Beardstown; one daughter, Kylie Montgomery of Beardstown; two stepdaughters, Otearia Streeter and Tisha Townsend, both of Springfield; one granddaughter, Jurni Graves; two brothers, Walter "Opie" Lyles of Beardstown and Billy Jack Mefford of Indianapolis; one sister, Tiffanie Applegate (companion, Brandon Taylor) of Fayetteville, N.C.; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Judy Applegate, and her grandparents.
Mrs. Streeter previously worked as an optometrist technician for Dr. Duane Sommerville in Beardstown for five years. She was a data input controller for the Secretary of State's Office in Springfield. She enjoyed porcelain dolls, crocheting and eating taffy.

Harry Clinton "H.C." Stribling, 81, of Virginia, IL and formerly of Ashland, IL died Saturday, November 14, 2009 at St. John's Hospice in Springfield, IL.
He was born October 6, 1928 in Springfield; the son of William Clinton and Helen Iris Sowers Stribling. He married Mae Nell White and was later divorced in the 1960's. He later married Connie Scheffler and she survives.
He is also survived by four children, Richard Clinton Stribling (wife, Greta) of Colorado Springs, CO, Ann Marie Verderber of Springfield, Donald Stribling of West Frankfort, and Sandi Roberts of Ashland; six grandchildren, Michael Verderber of San Diego, CA, Jackie Little (husband, Cody) of Centralia, Christina Stribling of Lexington, KY, Benjamin Stribling of Colorado Springs, CO, Tracy Stribling of Golden, CO, and Laura Verderber of Springfield; and two great grandchildren.
A lifelong Cass County resident, Mr. Stribling grew up west of Ashland and attended the nearby one room Crow's Point School. H.C. graduated from Ashland High School in 1946 and later entered the military as a medic , serving as a sergeant for the US Army during the Korean War. Following military service, he returned home to farm in the Yatesville area for several years. He left farming to work in heavy construction as an operating engineer with Freesen, Inc for 27 years prior to his retirement.
H.C. was an avid gun enthusiast and spent many years collecting, shooting, and educating himself about every make and model. He was well versed in US Wars and enjoyed discussing battle details. In later years, he kept busy in his shop, repairing electric and gas powered motors. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, even in retirement.
Following cremation, memorial services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday at the Ashland United Methodist Church in Ashland with committal services and military honors to be conducted at the Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the church from 1:00 PM Wednesday, November 18, 2009 until the time of services. Esther C. Stroops, 84, of 1300 Grand Ave., Beardstown, died at Beardstown Hospital Friday, Aug. 26.
She was born Dec. 30, 1898 in Morgan County, a daughter of William and Ida Berghaus.
She married Jacob C. Stroops Oct. 20, 1947 at Trinity Lutheran Church near Meredosia. He died July 9, 1976.
She was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
She was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church and belonged to the Ladies' Guild of the church.
Surviving are a brother-in-law, Jerry Stroops of Beardstown and several cousins.
Services were Aug. 29 at the Cline Funeral Home with burial in Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery.

Ernest Strubbe passes away at hospital
Ernest Rudolph Albert Strubbe, a son of John Frederick and Henrietta (Breyer) Strubbe, was born on January 4, 1882 at Arenzville, and departed this life May 26, 1928, at the St. John's hospital, Springfield, Ill., at age of 46 years 4 months and 22 years.
He was confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church of Arenzville when he was 14 years old. He spent his entire life in Morgan and Cass counties.
On March 2nd, 1921, he was married to Sophia Kruse. To this union was born one son, Ernest Kruse, who with the widow survives.
He is also survived by three brothers and four sisters, namely Henry of Jacksonville, Ill, Rudolph and William of Literberry, Ill., Mrs. Lydia Long of Literberry, Mrs Anna Boatman of Concord, Ill., Mrs. Amanda Ryman of Jacksonville, Ill., and Etta Strubbe.

George Samuel “Sam” Stuhmer, 78, of Chandlerville, passed away at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center at 9:42 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2012. He was born June 3, 1933 in Newmansville, IL to George W. and Mary Ethel (Sinclair) Stuhmer. He married Barbara Cox on June 13, 1957 at the Chandlerville Baptist Church.
Mr. Stuhmer is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Chandlerville, daughter, Colleen Dunlap of Chandlerville, brother, Darrel (Mary) Stuhmer, of Waverly, IL and sister, Shirley (Dave) McCullough of Virginia, IL. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Herschel and an infant sister, Betty.
Mr. Stuhmer was a member of the Chandlerville Baptist Church where he had served as a Sunday School teacher and as a deacon. He had farmed in the Chandlerville area his whole life.
Funeral services will be held at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville at 2:00 p.m on Thursday, March 8, 2012. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 until 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow the services at Chandlerville Cemetery.

Herschel E. Stuhmer, 85, of Chandlerville, passed away at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, October 14, 2010. He was born August 23, 1925 in Cass Co. to George W. and Ethel (Sinclair) Stuhmer.
Mr. Stuhmer is survived by two brothers, George Samuel "Sam" (Barb) Stuhmer of Chandlerville, Darrel (Mary) Stuhmer of Waverly, IL and one sister, Shirley (Dave) McCullough, of Chandlerville as well as nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents
Mr. Stuhmer was a member of the Chandlerville Baptist Church and the Chandlerville American Legion Post. He was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed all sports. He had coached little league baseball for many years in Chandlerville. He served in the US Army during WWII in Germany and received a Purple Heart. He worked for the State of Illinois Highway Department and as a farmer for many years.
Funeral services will be held at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2010 with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the services at Chandlerville Cemetery. Rev. Dale Sinclair will officiate.
