Irene J. Schroll, 1921-2007, Beardstown
   Irene J. Schroll, 86, of Beardstown, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2007, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
   She was born June 25, 1921, in Beardstown, the daughter of Herschel and Bertha Barbee Day. After the death of her parents, she was adopted by Fred I. and Verne Cline on Feb. 9, 1928. She married Fred A. Schroll on Oct. 16, 1943, in Pueblo, Colo., and he preceded her in death Sept. 20, 2002.
   She is survived by four children, Cathlyn (husband, Paul) West of Lone Rock, Wis., Rick and Jim (wife, Kellie), both of Beardstown, and Kim (husband, Dave) Jones of Virginia; eight grandchildren, Travis (wife, Andrea), Jenna, Kaleb, Amanda, Alex and Doug Schroll, Jennifer (husband, John) Freidenger and Phillip (wife, Tiffany) Hageman; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy (husband, Pete) Nile of New Port Richey, Fla.; one nephew, Jim Nile of Bonner Springs, Kan., who was raised in the home; and one cousin, Vera Graham of Albion, who was raised in the home. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Day; one sister, Jackie Hiatt; and one cousin.
   A 1939 graduate of Beardstown High School, Mrs. Schroll attended dress making school for a year in Chicago. She made many wedding dresses. She was involved with Fred I. Cline Furniture Store and Fred I. Cline Funeral Home almost her entire life, first working with her father and later as an owner with her husband, until they sold the funeral home in 1999. She was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She was a woman of courage, integrity, modesty and unselfishness. Her family meant everything to her and she enjoyed helping with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family remembers her as a wonderful cook.
   Funeral services will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements. Dorothy J. Schuetter, 98, of Beardstown, died Friday, April 4, 2008, at Sacred Heart Village in Louisville, Ky.
   She was born Sept. 25, 1909, in Evansville, Ind., the daughter of John J. and Julia A. Reine Boink. She married A.C. "Todd" Schuetter on May 27, 1937, in Evansville, Ind. and he preceded her in death June 6, 1973.
   She is also survived by four daughters, Caroline A. (husband, Gerald) Ryan of Beardstown, Mary "Diane" (husband, Tom) Bretz of Lexington, Ky., Susan E. (husband, Fred) Rentle and Deborah E. (husband, Patrick) McMurray, both of Louisville, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Alberta Gutgsell of Matteson and Donna Schlachter of Evansville, Ind. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Margaret Gail Schuetter; two brohers, John L. and Richard Boink; and five sisters, Margaret in infancy, Cecelia Pauli, Mary Louise Grote, Jeanette Fallen and Helen Bickle.
   Mrs. Schuetter was a faithful member of St. Alexius Catholic Church and Alter Society in Beardstown. She formerly served as Beardstown Township supervisor for 17 years.
   A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown, with burial at St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown Tuesday following 4:30 p.m. rosary services, until 7 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Sacred Heart Village in Louisville, Ky., or St. John's Hospital Compassionate Fund in Springfield. Katherine Hope Schulz, 1957-2008, Virginia
   Katherine Hope Schulz, 50, of Merrillville, Ind., and formerly of Virginia, died Tuesday Jan. 1, 2008, at St. Mary's Hospital in Hobart, Ind.
   She was born June 15, 1957, in Murphysboro, the daughter of James E. and Florence Scholes Goodall.
   She is survived by her mother of Virginia; her husband of 27 years, Calvin D. Schulz; one son, Jacob (wife, Amber) of Lake of Four Seasons, Ind.; three daughters, Rachel, Elizabeth and Hannah, all of Merrillville, Ind.; one granddaughter; one brother, Michael E. (wife, Anne) Goodall of Schererville, Ind.; six sisters, Sandra K. Harden, Fonda D. (husband, Roger) Jockisch and M. Annette (husband, Jerry) DeHaven, all of Virginia, Gladys A. (husband, Jack) Sullivan of White Hall, Marteka F. (husband, Alan) Schryer of Holland, Mich., and Laura J. Goodall of Schererville, Ind.; 13 nieces and nine nephews. She was preceded in death by her father; and one nephew.
   Mrs. Schulz was a resident of Merrillville for 13 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church for 13 years, and was on the staff/faculty of Hyles-Anderson College for nine years. She was a very talented musician, singing in the church choir, a soloist, pianist in the Sunday school department, and oboe player in the church orchestra. She taught Sunday school as a "white lamb" teacher in the Beginner 2 Department for six years. She was the editor of the elementary Sunday school lesson on "Promises, Promises." She was also a member of the Juvenile Detention Center ministry for four years.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Hammond, Ind., with burial at Memory Lane Memorial Park in Schererville, Ind. The family will meet with friends from 5-8 p.m. today at Bocken Funeral Home in Hammond, Ind. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to First Baptist Church Orchestra, 523 Sibley, Hammond, IN 46320.

   Mary Margaret Schultz, 96, of Beardstown, died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at her residence.
   She was born in Quincy, the daughter of Thomas Edgar and Mary Locke Scripps Musselman. She married Richard Condit Schultz on Nov. 16, 1940, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Quincy. He preceded her in death on Dec. 30, 1996.
   She is survived by one son, Rick (Paula) Schultz of Springfield; two daughters, Gail (Fred) Harmeyer of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, and Maggee (Keith) Rice of Beardstown; six grandchildren, Kathy (Tim) Fritz of Austin, Minnesota, Bob (Debi) Schultz of Beardstown, Jeff (Tammy) Schultz and Scott (Meg) Schultz, all of Austin, Minnesota, Kate (Shawn) Mayernick and Paul (Susie) Rice, all of Springfield; 12 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and one nephew, Tom (Lynn) Gullette of Houston. She was preceded in death by one son, Edward Schultz (surviving wife Beth Fay of St. Louis); and one sister, Virginia Gullette (surviving husband Camron Gullette of Brenham, Texas).
    Mrs. Schultz was a 1935 graduate of Quincy High School, then attended Scripps College in Claremont, California. She graduated from the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana in 1939. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and numerous organizations during her college career. She was May Queen her senior year over all the Mother's Day festivities at the university. After college graduation she taught shorthand at Gem City Business College in Quincy, then taught science at Beardstown Jr. High for 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was a current member of Delta Kappa Gamma, Retired Teachers of Illinois, and PEO sisterhood.
   Mary Margaret loved nature whether it be gardening or watching and identifying birds. She assisted her father (T.E.) in establishing the Bluebird Trail in Adams County. Mary Margaret was an avid reader, loved to play bridge, and spend time with her family.
   A private family burial will be held at St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery in Beardstown. There will be no visitation. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Hospice or Stan Korsmeyer Education Fund c/o Sager Funeral Home 202 E. 8th St., Beardstown, IL 62618.

Jean Scupham, 68, of Philadelphia, IL died Sunday, October 11, 2009 at her residence.
   She was born December 17, 1940 in Ashland; the daughter of Carl and Esther Schoultz Cooper. She married Jack W. Scupham on February 20, 1960 in Jacksonville and he preceded in death on May 9, 1994.
   She is survived by a grandson, Jason Scupham (wife, Brenda) of Pleasant Plains; a sister, Mary Lou Rayborn of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra S. "Debby" Cave; a brother, Harry Carl "Butch" Cooper; and a sister, Margaret Marie "Marge" Rayborn.
   Mrs. Scupham was a 1958 graduate of Virginia High School and was employed many years in the laundry and housekeeping departments for Meline Nursing Center and Passavant Hospital in Jacksonville and Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. She enjoyed sewing, working in her yard, and spending time with her family.
   Graveside services will be held 11:15 AM Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Wednesday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to American Red Cross.
