SCHLEIFER, Barbara Ann
Barbara Ann Schleifer, June 1, 1948-May 24, 2012
   Barbara Ann Schleifer, 63 of Beardstown, died Thursday, May 24, 2012 at Heritage Health in Beardstown. She was born June 1, 1948 in Montclair, NJ, the daughter of Robert Earl and Agnes Irene Grow Nichols. Surviving is her sister Jean (husband Hugh) Olson of Beardstown; two nieces Lynda Olson and Christina (husband Brad) Allen both of Beardstown; two nephews Ty (wife Terry) Olson of Beardstown and Jeffrey Olson of Burlington, IA; and six great nieces and nephews Raegan Olson, Breana Brockschmidt, Andy and William DeSollar, and Derek and Drew Olson. She was preceded in death by her parents. Barbara graduated from Montclaire High School in New Jersey in the class of 1967. She worked along side her mother as a cosmetology assistant in New Jersey. In 1996 they moved to Beardstown where Barbara worked at the Developmental Center and was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She loved knitting and crocheting. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorials have been suggested to Heritage Health Activity Fund, Beardstown First United Methodist Church, or Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice. Emmy Schlueter, 1948-2007, Beardstown
   Emmy Schlueter, 59, of Beardstown, died Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2007, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   She was born March 25, 1948, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Emmett Junior and Emmy C. Anderson Shoemaker.
   She is survived by two sons, Thomas L. (wife, Connie) Dusenbery of Chandlerville; three daughters, Connie (husband, Johnny Wayne) Bailey of Frankford, Mo., Cheryl (husband, Eric) Potter of Beardstown and Jeanie Berry of Pekin; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; three brothers, Lee Shoemaker of Beardstown and William James Shoemaker, both of Kansas City, Mo.; and three sisters, Helen Godert and Robin Starnes, both of Smithville, Mo., and her twin sister Ann Dusenbery of Beardstown. She was preceded in death by her parents.
   Ms. Schlueter was a homemaker and a member of Bethel Church of the Nazarene.

MRS. MARY SCHMITT DIED AT HER LATE HOME HERE AT 1 O'CLOCK P.M. SATURDAY, FUNERAL TAKES PLACE AT TEN A. M. TUESDAY
   Services Will be Conducted by Rev. P. C. Croll of Fourth Street Lutheran Church from Family Residence.
   Death is rapidly taking many of Beardstown's aged and best kown citizens. Within twenty-four hours three were called.
   Saturday afternoon at 1o'clock, Mrs. Mary Schmitt passed away, at her late home on East Foutth street. Aged 75 years, 3 months and 5 days.
   The funeral will take place from the family residence at 309 East Fourth street at 10 a. m. Tuesday, February 11th. Interment in City cemetery.
Obituary
   Miss Mary Stoner was born in Beardstown November 3, 1837. When but six weeks of age she moved with her parents to Montgomery county, Texas, where the parents settled upon a farm. The death of the father occurred a few years later and the mother and child returned to Beardstown.
   She was married to George J. Schmitt and to this union was born two children, both sons, George J. Schmitt, of Chicago, Ill., and Victor J. Schmitt of 311 East Fourth street this city.
   Henrietta Kessler, mother of the deceased died not long ago at the advanced age of 92 years.

Mrs. Nettie B. Schmitt
   Mrs. Nettie B. Schmitt, 92, died at Myers Nursing home at 11:20 p.m. Friday.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, who was a brother of George Schmitt, founder of Schmitt Memorial Hospital. She was also preceded in death by one son, George, in infancy.
   Mrs. Schmitt graduated from Beardstown High School with the class of 1896. She was a accomplished pianist and was associated with the S. L. Von Fossen Music Company in Beardstown for three years. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ of Beardstown where she was at one time a vocal soloist in the choir.
   She is survived by one son, Victor Schmitt of Beardstown, Ill.; one daughter, Mrs. Frances Moll of Chicago; four grandsons, William I. Moss of Watertown, South Dakota, Thomas W. Schmitt, serving with the U. S. Army, Victory Schmitt of Lombard, and Jefferson Schmitt of Bensenville: one granddaughter, Mrs. Barbara Kruse of Glendale Heights, Ill.; one sister, Mabel Hines Buck of Beardstown; two brothers August W. and Ralph M. both of Los Angeles; and three great-grandchildren.
   Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Cline Funeral Home with Rev. Wayne Gatzke of the First Congregational United Church of Christ officiating, assisted by Rev. William Browning of the First United Methodist Church. Mrs. Helen Carls was organist.
   Pallbearers were Jack Schroll, Oscar Trout, William DeSollar, Charles Unland, Bill Bley and Clifford Hagener.
   Burial was in City Cemetery.

V. J. Schmitt Passes Away, Brother of Hospital Donor Dies at 67
    Victor J. Schmitt, 67 years old, died at 7:35 last night in the hospital his brother, the late George J. Schmitt provided for the city of Beardstown.
   He had been ill for several weeks and yesterday blood donors were called in the hope that his life could be saved by transfusions.
   Born September 13, 1872 the son of the late George Joseph and Mary Schmitt,the decedent was reared here and lived in Beardstown most of his lifetime. He was a real estate broker until several years ago when he retired to his farm east to this city.
   Surviving are his wife, the former Mrs. Georgia H. Wilson and a son and daughter by a former marriage, Mrs Frances Moll of this city and Victor Schmitt of St. Louis. One grandson bill Moll, also survives together with two step-children, Miss Clarice Wilson and Ray Wilson of Chicago, and his sister in law, Mrs Lottie Schmitt of Chicago. His brother died eight years ago.
   The body was taken to the Simpson Home for Services to be prepared for burial. Funeral serviced will be conducted at the late residence at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. A. E. Beddoes will be in charge. Burial will be in the family lot in the City cemetery.

SCHNITKER, Charles H. - 1913-1999 - Submitted by Ernie Launer
   Charles H. Schnitker, 85, of Arenzville, died Tuesday, March 9, 1999, at his residence.
   He was born March 23, 1913, in Arenzville, the son of Fred and Minna Ring Schnitker. He married Lucile Beard on Jan. 8, 1933, in Carrolton, and she preceded him in death on Dec. 30, 1988. He is survived by three daughters, Patricia (husband, Kenneth) Roegge of Arenzville, Barbara (husband, Walter) Hymes of Jacksonville, and Trudy (husband, Myron) Strubbe of Arenzville; eight grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by one son, Ronald in June 1978; three brothers, Earl, Raymond and Norman; and five sisters, Eileen Schnitker, Inez Plank, Helene Dahman, Mary Brasel and Betty Manker.
   Mr. Schnitker retired as manager of Arenzville Hagener Grain Co. in 1975, then worked at Burrus Seed Co. until retiring in 1985. He was a member of the Arenzville United Methodist Church.
   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Arenzville United Methodist Church, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the services. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Williamson Funeral Home, with the family meeting friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials are suggested to Hospice Care of Illinois or the Arenzville United Methodist Church.

Services Held for Earl A. Schnitker
   Funeral services for Earl A. Schnitker of Arenzville, who died suddenly of a heart attack Wednesday afternoon were held at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon at the Trinity Lutheran church In Arenzville. The Rev. J. H. Beiderwieden officiated.
   Waldron Paul was the vocalist, accompanied at the organ by his sister, Miss Elizabeth Paul.
   Flowers were cared for by Marjory Coughlan, Pat Schnitker, Rosa Lee Schone, Eva Lee MeAllister, Dorothy Witte, Eileen Brasell, Georgiann Quinn, and Irene Zulauf.
   Honorary pallbearers were Edwin Dietrick, Herman Lovekamp, Harold Wessler, A. C. Hart, Ed Carls and Robert Beard. Active pallbearers were Wilbur Huey, Carol Wood, Russell Braner, George Jones, John Lewis, H. F. Loxley, John Fricke and Art Kleinschmidt. Ushers were Ross Houston, Floyd Schone, Wendell Wessler, Dean Klienschmidt and Melvin Wessler.
   Interment was in the North Arenzville cemetery.

Fred Schnitker, Retired School Custodian at Arenzville, Dies
   Fred Schnitker, 85, retired farmer who served as custodian at Arenzville for 22 years until his retirement five years ago, died at 10 0'clock last night at his home in Arenzville.
   He was born November 1, 1869 in Cass County, the son of Frederick and Caroline Wedeking Schnitker.
   He was married to Minna Ring on October 28, 1902, who survives.
    Also surviving are three sons, Ray Schnitker of Arenzville, Norman Schnitker of Prescott, Arisona, and Charles Schnitker of Arenzville: three daughters, Mrs. Inez Lovekamp, Mrs. Helen Dahman, and Mrs. Mary Brasell all of Arenzville: one brother, John Schnitker of Arenzville; three sisters, Mrs. William Wildt of Beardstown, Mrs. Louis Yeck of Meredosia and Mrs Caroline Redmond of Phoenix, Arizona; 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by three children, Earl Schnitker, Betty Manker, and Eileen Schnitker, and by four sisters and three brothers.
   He was a farmer until he moved into Arenzville and then became custodian of the Arenzville High school. He served there for 22 years and retired five years ago.
   He was confirmed in the Lutheran church many years ago.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Sunday afternoon at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with the Rev. G. A. Bischoff, pastor of St. Peter's Lutheran church, officiating.
   Burial will be in the North cemetery at Arenzville.
   The family will recieve friends from 7 to 9 o'clock Saturday evening at Williamson Funeral home in Jacksonville.

   Grace Mae Schnitker, 100, of Arenzville, died Monday, January 9, 2006, at Heritage East Nursing Home in Beardstown. She was born May 1, 1905, in Arenzville, the daughter of John and Rosa Haxton Zulauf, Sr. She married Earl A. Schnitker on February 3, 1926 at the Lutheran Parsonage in Arenzville, in a ceremony conducted by the Rev. E.F. Tonn. Her husband preceded her in death on January 28, 1953.
   She is survived by two daughters, Doris (husband, Glenn) Lovekamp of Arenzville and Maxine (husband, Gerald) Beard of Jacksonville; one son, Michael (wife, Dorothy) Schnitker of Arenzville; eleven grandchildren, Terri (wife, Patty) Lovekamp, Jim (wife, Karen) Lovekamp, Rick (wife, Robyn) Lovekamp, Tamara (husband, Ed) Wolfenbarger, Jerris Jan (husband, Steve) Foote, Gerry L. (wife, Mary Ann) Beard, Bob (wife, Harriet) Beard, Cheryl Kunzman, Cathy (husband, Tinker) Bader, Douglas E. (wife, Jamie) Schnitker, and Eric Allen (wife, Debbie) Schnitker; 2 step-grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 12 great-great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-granchildren, 3 step-great-great-grandchildren, and one sister, Francis (husband, Bud) Nelson of Arenzville. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Aleta Joy Kunzman; one grandson, Tom Kunzman; two great-grandchildren, four sisters, Bernice Quigg, Marcella Wessler, Louise Nobis, and Jeane Clark; and seven brothers John Zulauf, Lee Zulauf, Earl Zulauf, Henry Zulauf, Charlie Zulauf, Art Zulauf, and Ed Zulauf.
   Mrs. Schnitker was a homemaker and cookie-baker, known to her family, friends, and community as the "Cookie Grandma." She was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, and a charter member of Ladies Aid. She did volunteer work at the Jacksonville State Hospital for many years. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2006, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery.

Lucile Schnitker, 74, of Arenzville dies
   Lucile Schnitker, 74, of Arenzville died at 7:38 a.m. Friday, Dec. 30, at Passavant Hospital.
   She was born Feb. 3, 1914 in Arenzville, daughter of Lee and Lena KIrcher Beard. She married Charles Schnitker Jan. 8, 1933 in Carrollton, and he survives.
   Also surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Patricia) Roegge of Beardstown, Mrs. Walter (Barbara) Hymes of Jacksonville: and Mrs. Myron (Trudy) Strubbe of Arenzville; a brother, Roland Beard of Arenzville; three sisters, Mildred Kolberer, Mae Beets and Rena Kruse, all of Arenzville; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by a son, Ron, four brothers and a sister.
   Mrs. Schnitker was a member of the Arenzville Woman's Club, the Arenzville United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at Arenzville United Methodist Church, with the body to lie in state one hour prior to services. Burial will be at ArenzvilIe North Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Sunday at the Williamson Funeral Home with the family to meet friends 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Arenzville United Methodist Church or the Arenzvtille Public Librarv.
   Funeral services for Lucile Schnitker were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 2, at Arenzville United Methodist Church with the Rev. Donn Stephens officiating. Ken Bradbury was pianist and Faye Kershaw was organist. Ushers were Clyde Ginder and Ron Kershaw. Pallbearers, all nephews, were Don Kolberer, Jim Beard, Gerald Beard, David Beard, Dan Beard and Karmen Kruse. Burial was at Arenzville North Cemetery. The Arenzville Womans Club attended the services as a group. Williamson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangement.

   Mabel B. Schnitker, 86, of Arenzville died Friday morning, June 2, 1995, at Passavant Hospital.
   She was born Oct. 13, 1908, in Arenzville, the daughter of Edward and Grace Hailey Smith. She married Raymond Schnitker on July 5, 1928, and he died May 1, 1970.
   She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Leland (Avalee) McAllister of Jacksonville; a son, Ray (wife, Joy) Schnitker of Arenzville; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
   Mrs. Schnitker worked many years at Onken Bros. and Meyers Store in Arenzville and later as a cook at Triopia School. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Arenzville.
   Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the United Methodist Church in Arenzville. The remains will be taken to the church one hour prior to services. Burial will be at Arenzville North Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the Williamson Funeral Home where the family will meet friends from 6-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Arenzville United Methodist Church.

Pallbearers were Kevin Schnitker, Kai Schnitker, Kurt McAllister, Kyle McAllister, Steve Little and Loren Cantrell. Burial was at Arenzville North Cemetery. Died Sunday, August 28, 1960 Mrs. Schnitker, 77, Dies, Funeral
   Mrs. Mimma (Clara) Schnitker, 77 died at 6 p.m. Sunday at Passavant hospital, in Jacksonville, where she had been admitted as a patient the day before.
   Mrs. Schnitker was born in Germany September 17, 1882, daughter of Karl and Mary Loser Ring.
   She was married to Fred Schnitker who died in 1955.
    Surviving are the following children; Mrs. Inez Kleinschmidt, Mrs. Helen Dahman, Raymond Schnitker, all of Arenzville; Norman Schnitker of Prescott, Arizona; Charles Schnitker and Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Brassell , both of Arenzville.
   A son Earl and two daughters Eileen and Betty, preceded their mother in death.
   Also surviving are four brothers, Karl Ring of Ashland, William Ring of Virginia, Henry Ring of Prentice, and Chris Ring of Perry Missouri. eight sisters, Mrs. Mary Nordsiek and Mrs. Rosa Meyer both of Beardstown; Mrs. Anna Kendricker of Tullula, Mrs. Lydia Menge of Arenzville, Mrs. Elizabeth Hendricker of Beardstown, Mrs. Martha Meyer of Jacksonville, Mrs. Helen Nelson of Tullula, Mrs. Amanda Launer of Philadelphia, 21 Grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
   Mrs. Schnitker was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran church west of Arenzville and was a member of the Ladies Aid.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. peter's Lutheran church. The Rev. G. A. C. Bischoff, pastor will officiate. Burial will be in Arenzville North cemetery.
   The family will meet friends at the Williamson Funeral home in Jacksonville from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.

Norman Schnitker dies Wednesday
   ARENZVILLE - Norman R. Schnitker, 67, Prescott, Arizona, formerly of Arenzville, died Wednesday evening at Yavapai Community hospital in Prescott. Survivors include his wife, the former Mae Johnson; a son, Malcolm, and two granddaughters, all of Phoenix, ArIzona; a brother, Charles, Arenzville; and three sisters, Mrs. Inez Kleinschmidt and Mrs. Mary Brasell, both of ArenzvilIe, and Mrs. Helene Dahman, Jacksonville. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Minna Ring Schnitker, two brothers and two sisters.
    Mr. Schnitker had moved to Arizona in 1945.

R. O. Schnitker of Arenzville dies Fnday
   Raymond O. Schnitker, 63, of Arenzville, was dead on arrival at Passavant hospital Friday noon.
   He was born in Cass County on November 23, 1906, son of Fredrick and Minna Ring Schnitker. He married Mable Smith on July 7, 1928. She survives with a daughter, Mrs. Leland McAllister of Meredosia, and a son Ray Leon of Bluffs. There are seven grandchildren.
   AIso surviving are three sisters, Inez Kleinschmidt, Helen Dahnan and Mrs. Robert Brasell of Arenzville and two brothers, Charles of Arenzville and Norman of Prescott, Arizona.
   He was preceded in death by a brother, Earl, and two sisters, Betty Manker and Eileen Schnitker.
   Mr. Schnitker was associated with Schnitker Truck Lines for 45 years. He was a member of the Arenzville Village Board and the Arenzville United Methodist church.
   The family will meet friends 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Williamson Funeral Home.
    Those wishing to do so may give memorials to the Arenzville United Methodist church or to the Heart Fund.
   Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Arenzville United Methodist church with Rev. Delmar Redmon officiating. Interment will be in Arenzville North cemetery.

Ronald Schnitker dies suddenly at Arenzville home Died June 29, 1978
    Ronald Schnitker of Arenzville died suddenly at his home in Arenzville at 7 a.m. Thursday at 40 years of age. He attended Elm City Center at Jacksonville and resided with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schnitker.
    The deceased was born at Jacksonville March 29, 1938, son of Charles and Lucile Beard Schnitker. Also surviving are three sisters, Patricia Roegge of Beardstown; Barbara Hymes, Jacksonville; and Trudy Strubbe of Arenzville.
   Mr. Schnitker was a member of the Arenzville United Methodist church. Memorials are suggested to the Diabetes Association or the National Epileptic Foundation.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Arenzville United Methodist church with Rev. Ronald Eaker officiating. The body will be brought to the church an hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Arenzville North cemetery.
   Friends may call after 1 p.m today at Williamson funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m.

Elaine Scholes, 1930-2003, Virginia
   Elaine Scholes, 73, of Virginia, died Saturday afternoon, Oct. 18, 2003, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born June 19, 1930, in Albion, Neb., the daughter of Vernon Leroy and Myrlte Ruth Stevenson Michael. She married Charles Robert Scholes on Nov. 3, 1951, and he preceded her in death Dec. 18, 1980.
   She is survived by one son-in-law, Martin McCann of Springfield, five grandsons, Charles Edward-Martin McCann, Kane Shannon McCann, Brennen Casey McCann, Morgan Clary McCann and Shea Cullin McCann, all of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Michelle Elaine McCann in 1999.
   Mrs. Scholes resided near Cedar Rapids, Neb., and Colorado prior to moving to Illinois in 1939. She lived on a farm between Pleasant Plains and Ashland, eventually moving to Springfield. After she married, she and her husband moved to a farm near Virginia in 1962. She moved to her home in Virginia in 1981. She was employed for a brief period of time at Franklin Life Insurance in Springfield. She was a member of the Ashland Church of Christ since 1942, and a member of the Walnut Grove Household Science Club since 1964.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 3 p.m. Thursday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. There will be no visitation.    Ernest E. "Ernie" Scholes, 70, of Virginia, died Dec. 15, 2006 at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia. He was born July 30, 1936 in Virginia, the son of James Elroy and Luetta O. Votsmeier Scholes.
   He is survived by one brother, Delbert M. Scholes of Virginia; two sisters, Margaret DeGroot and Erma Mae Bulva (husband, Lester) both of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Scholes; and a sister, Helen (surviving husband, Robert of Jacksonville) Vieira.
   Mr. Scholes was employed by the City of Virginia for over 20 years. He provided lawn service for many Virginia residents. He was a member of St. Luke's Parish.
   A funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Virginia, with burial at St. Augustine Cemetery in Ashland. Friends may call from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Tuesday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia. Memorial gifts are suggested to St. Luke's Parish Hall Fund. Luberta E. "Tudie" Scholes, June 15, 1927-July 5, 2012
   Luberta E. "Tudie" Scholes, 85, of Virginia, IL died Thursday, July 5, 2012 at Heritage Health in Jacksonville, IL.
   She was born June 15, 1927 in Cass County, IL; the daughter of Martin and Mimah Briggs Fanning. She married Wayne Scott Blakeman and he preceded her in death on December 18, 1955. She later married Walter Edward Scholes on August 8, 1970 in Virginia and he preceded her in death on August 1, 1996.
   She is survived by a daughter, Donna Devlin (husband, Pat) of rural Virginia; three grandchildren, Emily Wallbaum (husband, Travis) of Ashland, Ryan Ruot (wife, Angie) of Assumption, and Andrew Devlin (wife, Amanda) of Hillsboro; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by nine brothers, Martin, William, Earl Eugene, Floyd, Robert, Albert, George, Glenn, and Harold Fanning, and a sister, Frances Pettit.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. Friends are invited to a celebration of life from 5:00 to 8:00 pm Sunday at her daughter's home, 2400 S. Burlingame Road, east of Virginia. Private family graveside services will be held at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia at a later date. Memorial gifts are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice, 331 S. Main St., Virginia, IL 62691. Luetta O. Scholes - October 8, 1906 - July 24, 2006
   Luetta O. Scholes, 99, of Virginia, died Monday morning, July 24, 2006, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born October 8, 1906, in Sinclair, the daughter of Charles Franklin and Sarah Catherine Decker Votsmier. She married James Elroy Scholes on February 15, 1926, in Ashland and he preceded her in death on May 4, 1970.
   She is also survived by two sons, Ernest Scholes and Delbert Scholes of Virginia; two daughters, Margaret DeGroot of Virginia and Erma Mae (husband, Lester) Bulva of Virginia; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Helen Vieira; one son, Kenneth Scholes; one sister, Olvina Votsmier; two brothers, Monroe Votsmier and Orville Votsmier.
Mrs. Scholes was a homemaker and member of the St. Luke's Catholic Church in Virginia.
   A funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 29, at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Virginia, with burial in St. Augustine Cemetery in Ashland.

Floyd Arthur 'Grandpa' Schone, 1920-2006, Arenzville
   Floyd Arthur Schone, 86, of Edina, Mo., and formerly of Arenzville, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 1, 2006, in Columbia, Mo.
   He was born April 14, 1920, in Chapin, the son of Henry John and Martha Lovekamp Schone. He married Elsie Maxine Witte on April 21, 1946, in Arenzville, and she preceded him in death Dec. 9, 1999, after celebrating 53 years together.
   He is survived by two daughters, Rita Ann (husband, David) Suffern of Varna and Diane (husband, Jim) Hamm of Edina, Mo.; three grandchildren, Aaron (wife, Anne) Suffern of Lacon and Rob (wife, Melissa) Hamm and Michelle Hamm, both of Edina, Mo.; five sisters, Marion Stock, Millie (husband, Myron) Beard and Wanda (husband, Dean) Stock, all of Arenzville, Doris (husband, Delbert) Hackman of Havana and Anna (husband, Joe) Sullivan of Jacksonville; two brothers, Wayne (wife, Janice) of Arenzville and Henry Jr. (wife, Dorothy) of Sun City, Fla.; two sisters-in-law, Marjorie Schone of Chapin and Barb (husband, Roger) Brockschmidt of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Aaron and Lloyd.
   Mr. Schone attended Illinois schools and served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Rainbow Division. He served 30 years on the farm service board in Illinois and he and his wife were engaged in farming in the Arenzville community until their retirement. He has resided in Edina since 1997 and was a good Christian who loved his animals and visiting with his family and friends.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Hudson-Rimer Funeral Chapel in Edina, Mo., with burial at Linville Cemetery in Edina, Mo., with military graveside honors conducted by Cyril A. Graham American Legion Post 261. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home, with the family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m.

Revetta Schoneman, 1921-2003
   Revetta Schoneman, 82, of Beardstown, died Monday morning, Sept. 22, 2003, at Manor Care Nursing Home in Peoria.
She was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Tazewell County, the daughter of Walter Slater and Nellie Schoneman.
   Surviving is her friend and guardian, Susan Smith of Peoria; and her special friends and the staff of S.A.I.L. Homes 1 and 2 and Bridgeview Court in Beardstown.
   Revetta loved to sing, visit with her friends and take walks. Her favorite color was red.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

   Margit Roberta Schoonover, 78 years, of New Berlin, and formerly of Chapin and Arenzville. died Thursday morning, November 23, 2006 at her residence in New Berlin.
   She was born August 3, 1928 in the Sudetenland of Czechoslovakia. The daughter of Anton and Elsa Scheitler. She married John Harry Schoonover on May 20, 1950 and he preceded her in death on July 30, 2005.
   She is survived by three sons; John (wife, Georgia) Schoonover of New Berlin, Mike Schoonover of Hawaii, Major (wife, Mari Jane) Schoonover of Smyrna,TN; nine grandchildren, Derek and Jacob Schoonover of New Berlin, Cassandra McDaniels of Meredosia, Fallon Langley of White Hall, IL, Tiffany Schoonover of Indianapolis, IN, Jeremy Schoonover of New Berlin, Chelsa Schoonover, Harrison Schoonover and Iam Schoonover of Smyrna, TN;one great grandchild; one sister in Germany; and several nieces nephews and cousins.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Elsa McDaniels (surviving husband, Walter of Meredosia),brother, Ernest Scheitler and grandson, Thomas McDaniels.
   Mrs. Schoonover was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. She had worked for Capital Records in Jacksonville as a Audio Tester until her retirement in 1999. She had also given accordion lessons when she lived in the Manito, IL area.
   Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, December 1, 2006 at the Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial in the Bethel Cemetery north of Chandlerville, IL Visitation will from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home. Schoonover, Robert L. - March 23, 1931-March 11, 2012
   Robert L. Schoonover, 80, formerly of 1004 Oxford Ave. in Pekin, passed away at 11:47 p.m., Sunday, March 11, 2012 at the home of his step-daughter.
   He was born March 23, 1931 in Chandlerville to Louis and Margaret Faye (Watkins) Schoonover. He married Audrey Koch in 1950 in Kilbourne, IL. He later married Nancy Ellen Bradshaw on October 12, 1990 in Pekin. She preceded him in death on October 31, 2011 in Pekin.
   Also preceding him in death were his parents.
   Surviving are one son, Kevin (Julie) Schoonover of Simi Valley, CA; one step-daughter, Robin (Dale) Tippett of Pekin; two step-sons, Dwight (Judith) Rathmel of Porris, CA and Jeffrey (Deborah) Rathmel of Pekin; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Jane Schoonover of Jacksonville, IL, Marjorie Miller of Morton and two nieces.
   Robert graduated from Kilbourne High School in 1950. He then served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
   Robert worked as a machinist for several aerospace companies after leaving the service. He last worked for Caterpillar, Inc., in East Peoria as a fork truck operator in the Receiving Dept. He retired in 1995 after 30 years of service.
   A family oriented man, he loved to tinker with anything mechanical and he loved dune buggies and motorcycles. He had raced motorcycles when he was younger. Robert also enjoyed being outdoors and working in his garden.
   Robert was of the Christian faith.
   His funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 16, 2012 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Rev. Terry C. Edele will officiate. Visitation will be 1 hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin. Military honors will be performed by Tazewell Area Ceremonial Team and the Military Funeral Honors Team.
