Loraine S. Rink, April 19, 1912-January 28, 2008
   Loraine S. Rink, 95, of Springfield, and formerly of Beardstown, died Sunday, January 27, 2008, at Bickford House in Springfield.
   She was born April 19, 1912 in Chesterland, Ohio, the daughter of Rev. Asa Baker and Flora Bell Strawther Stickley. She married Emil Arthur Rink on September 17, 1938 at National City Christian Church in Washington, D.C. He preceded her in death October 5, 1991.
   Surviving are her son, Emil Edward "Ed" (wife, Peggy) Rink of Beardstown; two grandchildren; Edward Anton "Ted" (special friend, Jessica Ireland) Rink, Chicago and Sara Marie Rink; Greensboro, North Carolina; her brother, Vernon Baker Stickley of Frederick, Maryland; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brother V.V. Stickley, her sister, Phyllis Smith, her grandson, Anton in infancy, and a nephew, Dale Stickley.
   Mrs. Rink was formerly employed at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. and later, served as vice president of the Coca-Cola Bottling Company in Beardstown. She was also a homemaker. She was currently a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. Prior to her move to Springfield, she had been an active member of First Evangelical Church in Beardstown.
   Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Thursday, January 31, 2008, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Springfield. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m Friday, February 1, at First Evangelical Church in Beardstown, with burial in the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to both funeral services at the churches.
   Memorials have been suggested to Christian Love In Action Building Fund in Beardstown, her churches, or donor's choice.

Stewart E. "Jay" Rives, Jr., 1971-2007, Chandlerville
   Stewart E. "Jay Rives, Jr., 35, of Chandlerville, died Sunday afternoon, July 1, 2007 in Jacksonville. He was born Nov. 1, 1971 in Carrollton, the son of Stewart E. Sr. and Virginia "Jenny" Griffith Rives. He married Melissa L. Rynders March 6, 1993 in Virginia, and she survives.
   He is also survived by his father of Morton; his mother, Jenny and step-father, Junior Wells of Virginia; three daughters, Jeni, Lakyn and Emilee all at home; one brother, Todd Forrester of Virginia; three sisters, Heather (husband, Chris) Dirks of Chandlerville, Amber Rives and Crystal Rives both of Florida, one step-sister, Mandy (husband, Matt) Kern of Auburn, and one step-brother, Lance Wells of Mint Hill, N.C.; and 15 nieces and nephews.
   Mr. Rives was a member of the New Beginnings Church in Ashland and the A-C Central School Board. He was a union steward at his work and avid golfer, hunter and fisherman when he had the time. He loved attending his daughters sports and school activities. He was very active in his community and had formerly coached several sports teams. He worked for the Nestle Company in Jacksonville. He was dedicated to his family, his church and served his Lord.
   Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville, with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to an education fund for his daughters. Condolences may be left at www.hurleyfh.com.
Note: Mr. Rives was killed in an apparent electrocution accident during his work at Nestle Beverage Company.
