Betty Leona Riley - 1928-2003 - Virginia
   Betty Leona Riley, 74, of Virginia, died Thursday morning, May 22, 2003 at her residence.
   She was born July 12, 1928 in Dayton, Ohio, the daughter of Carl H. and Elta Delancy Johnson. She married Paul M. Riley Feb. 28, 1949 in Arkansas and he survives.
   She is also survived by five sons, Walter Riley of Orlando, Fla., Alan (wife, Colleen) of Goffstown, N.H, Donald (wife, Donna) of Virginia, Edward (wife, Deb) of Waukesha, Wis., and Carl (wife, Sharon) of Smithfield; three daughters, Susan (husband, Jim) Shelts and Karen (husband, Rodney) Simonds, both of Jacksonville, and Beverly Bencher of Virginia; eight grandchildren, Kate and Kim Riley of Goffstown, N.H, Paul and David Riley of Virginia, Bryn and Claire Simonds of Jacksonville, and Jessica and Amber Bencher of Virginia; 5 step-grandchildren; one sister, Pat Riley of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy Massa; and two brothers, Carl H. Johnson Jr. and Robert E. Johnson.
   Mrs. Riley graduated from Tri-City High School and later from Jacksonville School District #117 School of Practical Nursing. She was a nurse for Beardstown Hospital for many years until its closure. She then worked at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia until her retirement. She was a member of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church in rural Virginia. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, she enjoyed spending time with family, shopping, flower gardening, and collecting Raggedy Anns and patriotic pins.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m.today at the funeral home. Memorial are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.    Patricia Ann Johnson Riley, 72, of Virginia, IL, residing in West Chicago, IL, died Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Foster G. McGaw Hospital of Loyola in Maywood, IL.
    She was born April 9, 1942 in Springfield, IL, the daughter of the late Carl H. and Elta Johnson. She married Harold Eugene Riley on December 22, 1968 in Virginia and he preceded her in death on November 10, 2000.
   She is survived by her son, Scott Riley (wife, Jennifer) of Carol Stream, IL; her daughter, Robin Riley of Grand Prairie, TX; her step children, Mike Riley of Springfield and Vicki Fanning (husband, David) of Virginia; her granddaughter, Kaitlyn Riley; her step grandchildren, Travis and Shannon Duckwiler; and her four step great grandchildren, Lean and Rien Duckwiler, Alicia Day and Alexis Bailey.
   She was preceded in death by her brothers, Carl Jr. and Robert Johnson and her sisters, Dorothy Parsons and Betty Riley.
   Patricia retired from Horace Mann in Springfield, IL. She served as an elder for Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church and was a former president of the Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Women’s Ministry. She loved reading, working with crafts and playing computer games. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her beloved cats.
   Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Friday, November 14, 2014, at Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, west of Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. Memorial gifts are suggested to Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Paul M. Riley, 1923-2008, Virginia
   Paul M. Riley, 84, of Virginia, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2008 at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   He was born May 1, 1923 in Cass County, the son of Walter and Grace Irvin Riley. He married Betty Leona Johnson on Feb. 28, 1949 in Hensley, Ark., and she preceded in death May 22, 2003.
   He is survived by five sons, Walter and Donald (wife, Donna), both of Virginia, Alan (wife, Colleen) of Goffstown, N.H, Edward (wife, Deb) of Waukesha, Wis., and Carl (wife, Sharon) of Smithfield; three daughters, Susan (husband, Jim) Shelts and Karen (husband, Rodney) Simonds, both of Jacksonville and Beverly Bencher of Virginia; eight grandchildren, Kate and Kim Riley of Goffstown, N.H., Paul C. Riley of Virginia, David Riley of Glendale, Calif., Bryn and Claire Simonds of Jacksonville, and Jessica and Amber Bencher of Virginia; five step grandchildren; two sisters, Freida Dalton of San Diego and Marge (husband, George) Fanning of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold (surviving wife, Patricia of Virginia) Riley and William "Bill"; and one sister, Helen Kruse.
   Mr. Riley was a 1941 graduate of Virginia High School and served with the U.S. Navy from 1942 to 1946. Following military service, he farmed in Cass County for several years. He later worked as a mechanic for Reynolds Service Station and retired following several years as a truck driver for C & H Transportation. He was a life long member of Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church, west of Virginia, and an early member of the Cass County Cavaliers motorcycle club. A private pilot, he previously enjoyed flying his two airplanes. He enjoyed tinkering and welding in his shop, gardening in his yard, maintaining his extensive purple martin houses, and most of all, spending time with his family.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.The family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
