   Reta Jokisch Reatherford age 84, Virginia, died at Walker Nursing Home at 6.55 p.m. on Thursday, February 22, 1990. She was born on September 1. 1905, at Cass County, the daughter of John Howard and Ellen May Bowman Jokisch.
   She married Henry Albert Pratt in 1925 at Virginia. She married King Reatherford in 1957 in Moweaqua. Both preceded her in death.
   Surviving are two sons, Glenn Pratt, Goleta, Calif. and Victor Pratt, Seattle, Wash. a step-daughter, Mrs. Mike (Elaine) Tufts, Bloomington; four grandchildren: two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Sinclair and Mary F. Fautz, both of Virginia; one brother Jack Jokisch, South Padre Island, Texas; several nieces and nephews.
   She was a member of the Virginia United Methodist Church and previously taught flower arranging classes in her home.
   Graveside services were held at 1 p.m. Sunday, February 25 at Walnut Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Lou Zuck officiating. Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home were in charge of arrangements.

Dennis D. Reddish, March 7, 1922-January 5, 2016
   Dennis D. Reddish, 93, of Virginia, IL died Tuesday, January 5, 2016, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville, IL.
   He was born March 7, 1922 in Noble, IL, the son of Lucy Hill Reddish. He married Muriel Kirchner Dodds on May 12, 1972 in Virginia.
   He is survived by his wife, Muriel, of Virginia and her children, Virginia Lee Dodds of Springfield and James P. Dodds (wife, Sara) of Virginia; four grandchildren, Robert Uhe (wife, Gretchen) of Springfield and William F. Dodds III, Jennifer E. Dodds, and Corey McGlasson, all of Virginia; and five great grandchildren, Ingrid, Liesel, and Roger Uhe, all of Springfield, Amber McGlasson of Oakford, and Dylan McGlasson of Virginia.
   He was preceded in death by his mother, his maternal grandfather, Emerson Hill, who helped raise him, and a brother, Bill Reddish.
   Dennis graduated from Virginia High School in 1942 and served with the US Army Air Corps during WW II in the Pacific Theatre. With a background in engineering, he worked with Caterpillar in Peoria and later with Fiat-Allis in Springfield from where he retired. During his retirement, Dennis served many years as the Virginia Township Clerk.
   An avid outdoorsman, Dennis enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping. He was a talented trapshooter and was named the Illinois State Trapshooting Champion in 1969.
   Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, January 9, 2016, at the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the church from 10:00 am Saturday until the time of services. Private family committal services will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to Walker Nursing Home Activity Fund or Future Farmers of America at Virginia High School. Franklin Eugene Reed
   Franklin Eugene Reed, 81, of Ashland, died Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Florida Hospital in Altamonte Springs, FL.
   He was born Dec. 27, 1931, in Philadelphia, IL, the son of Pearl and Elizabeth Sutherd Reed. He married Mary E. Retherford on May 7, 1976, in Springfield and she preceded him in death on May 11, 1997.
   He is survived by nine children, Carol (Ron) Freligh of Ashland, Dinah Wentzel of Springfield, Rachelle (Mark) Elwood of Altamonte Springs, FL, Brenda Reed of Ashland, Cheryl (Robert) Hicks of Springfield, Charles “Chuck” (Betty) Griffin, III of Ashland, Laurie Taylor of Springfield, Joseph Reed of Beardstown, and Mary (Jamie) Owen of Tucson, AZ; nineteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one brother, Donald “Ducky” (Mary Ann) Reed of Pleasant Plains. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one daughter, Jeanette Smock (surviving husband Kenny of Ashland); one grandson, John Bellatti; and one sister, Renona Dodds.
   Mr. Reed was a graduate of Pleasant Plains High School and a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashland. He had been a carpenter for many years, and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed bowling and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
   Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church of Ashland, with burial at Ashland Cemetery. The family will meet friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland. Memorials are suggested to the National Kidney Foundation. Lucille Reed, 1910-2008, Chandlerville
   Lucille Reed, 97, of Chandlerville, died Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2008, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   She was born Dec. 20, 1910, in the home she still lived in, the daughter of Ralph and Hilma Turner Cook. She married Jewel Reed on Sept. 11, 1930, in Virginia, and he preceded her in death Dec. 27, 1981.
   She is survived by two daughters, Mary Louise (husband, John) Goetz and Patricia (husband, Earl) Williams, both of Chandlerville; one son, James (wife, Dorothy) of Chandlerville; nine grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; 16 great-greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Annabelle Cloninger of Chandlerville. She was preceded in death by one brother, Russell Cook.
   Mrs. Reed was a member of the Chandlerville Christian Church and attended Chandlerville High School. She was a homemaker all of her life. She loved her horses and dogs and her acres of beautiful flowers and garden in the summer. Her neighbors were her most valued friends.
   Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville, with burial at Pontiac Cemetery near Chandlerville. "Barney" Reichert of Virginia dies Monday
   Alvin O. "Barney" Reichert, 63, Virginia, died Monday morning, June 14, 1982, at Passavant Hospital. He was a former sheriff of Cass County.
   Mr. Reichert was born at Bluff Springs February 19, 1919, son of Oscar and Rose Ruppel Reichert; his mother, of Beardstown, survives. He married Dolores Lovekamp July 29, 1945, and she survives.
   Also surviving are a son, James Leroy, Virginia; four daughters: Mrs. Charles (Judy) Dillard, Jacksonville; Mrs. David (Vicki) Robson, Murrayville; Mrs. Regis (Sheila) Knisley, DeKalb, and Mrs. Mike (Patsy) Miller, Virginia; two brothers, Roscoe and Herman, both of Virginia; and seven grandchildren.
   Mr. Reichert spent 12 years in Cass County law enforcement and was a Democratic precinct committeeman. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church and was a past member of the Elks, Moose and Rotary and formerly owned Eunice & Barney's Lounge in Havana.
   Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery.
   Informal visitation will be 7 to 9 tonight at Massie Funeral Home in Virginia.

REICHERT, Barbara "Barb" Ann, February 3, 1947-February 17, 2017
Barbara Ann “Barb” Reichert, 70, of Lincoln, formerly of Virginia, peacefully passed away February 17, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center, Springfield.
   Barb was born February 3, 1947 in Jacksonville, IL., the daughter of Dareld and Norma (Williams) Ivey. She was preceded in death by her parents.
   Barb was a 1965 graduate of Virginia High School and married her high school sweetheart, Gary Reichert on July 18, 1965 at Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia, IL, where she and Gary remain members.
   Barb retired from SIU School of Medicine after 33 years of service as the Chairman & Curriculum Administrative Assistant for the Microbiology & Immunology Department. Barb had been a member of the Lioness Club in Virginia, and is a prior member of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem in Lincoln.
   Barb cherished her time with family and friends antiquing and attending various hometown festivals. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and sewing, especially cross stitch. Many of her creations were framed and shared with family and friends. Barb spent many years attending sporting events for her children and later enjoyed attending various sporting events with her family. Barb was known to have a big heart. Over the years, she held a special places in her heart for her pets and an even bigger place for her granddaughter, Addy, whom she adored.
   Surviving are her husband Gary Reichert of Lincoln, IL; daughter Heather Reichert of Carpentersville, IL., son Eric Reichert of Lincoln, IL.; and granddaughter Addalynn Reichert.
   Visitation will be from 5-7 PM Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Holland Barry & Bennett Funeral Home in Lincoln with funeral services to follow at 7PM Thursday also at the funeral home. Burial will be at 11 AM Friday, February 24, 2017 in Walnut Ridge Cemetery, Virginia, IL.

Dolores M. Reichert - June 30, 1927-July 13, 2016
Dolores Marie Reichert, 89, of Virginia, IL died Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at the home of her daughter, Judy Dillard, in Jacksonville, IL surrounded by her family.
   She was born June 30, 1927 in Arenzville, IL, the daughter of Otto John Henry and Verna Louise Kleinschmidt Lovekamp. She married Alvin Oscar “Barney” Reichert on July 29, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville and he preceded her in death on June 14, 1982.
   She is survived by a son, James Leroy Reichert (wife, Susie) of Virginia; four daughters, Judy Diane Dillard (husband, Charles “Chuck”) of Jacksonville, Vicki Kay Robson of Murrayville, and Shelia Dawn Knisley of Springfield; 10 grandchildren, Tod, Tori, Joe, Nancy, Jody, Amanda, Nathan, Patrick, Brent, and Brandon; 9 great granddaughters; 12 great grandsons; a great great grandson; a sister, Iris Joan Oakley (husband, Ralph) of Zionsville, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patsy Louise Miller (surviving husband, Mike of Virginia); a grandson, Kelly Robson; a brother, Martin Leroy Lovekamp; and a son-in-law, David Robson.
   A graduate of Arenzville High School, Dolores was baptised and confirmed in Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville. She was first employed at the Beardstown Glove Factory and later served as a special deputy and the chief cook and bottle washer at the Cass County Jail during her husband’s tenure as Cass County Sheriff. She was later employed many years by the United States Postal Service as a postal clerk in Virginia, honored to be one of the first females to serve in that capacity.
   Dolores was a devoted member of Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia, where she formerly served as a Sunday School teacher. She was formerly active in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs, where she served many years as a Bible School teacher. She was also a member of the Cass County Democratic Women and the Virginia American Legion Post 258 Auxiliary. In her spare time, Dolores enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing pinochle, and spending time with her family.
   Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. Elmer C. Reichert, 1925-2005 - Virginia
   Elmer C. Reichert, 79, of Virginia, died Friday morning, May 27, 2005, at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   He was born Sept. 19, 1925, in Bluff Springs, the son of Elmer S. and Core Oetgen Reichert. He married Colleen Drake in 1947 in Bluff Springs, and she preceded in death in 1960. He then married Bertha Morgan in 1963 in Jacksonville, and she preceded in death in 1973. He then married Ruth Ginder Masten in 1975 in Literberry, and she preceded in death in January 2005.
   He is survived by three sons, Allen (wife, Cathy) of rural Jacksonville; Harry James (wife, Mila) of Franklin and Larry Wayne (wife, Cathy) of Jacksonville; one daughter, Janice Marie (husband, Tom) Winters of Jacksonville; one stepson, Nyle (wife, Monica) Masten of Arenzville; two step-daughters, Marilyn (husband, Norman) Siegle of Jacksonville and Venita (husband, William R.) Kilby of rural Virginia; 14 grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; two sisters, Hazel Taylor of Ames, Iowa, and Lorene Rogers of Clinton; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by one daughter, Norma Lee Virgin; one grandson; one stepgrandson; four brothers, Floyd, Roy, Carlos and Norman Reichert; and two sisters, Annabelle Jokisch and Dorothy Reichert.
   Mr. Reichert was formerly engaged in farming and providing custom bulldozer work. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He wa a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Reichert Funeral to be held Thursday
   Funeral services for Floyd Elmer Richert, 50 road commissioner at Bluff Springs Township, who was electrocuted Tuesday morning when working on bridge removal on a Sangamon Valley road, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Ev. Lutheran church at Bluff Springs. The Rev. Robert Stone of Virginia will officiate. Burial will be in City Cemetery at Beardstown.
   Friends may call from 7:30 to 9 p.m. This evening at Northcutt Funeral Home. The body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the services Thursday.
   Floyd Elmer Reichert was born September 27, 1910, son of Elmer A. and Cora Oetgen Reichert of Bluff Springs. He was a veteran of World War II: a member of American Legion: and a member of Elks Club.
   He is survived by his wife, Violet; parents; three brothers, Roy, of Bluff Springs, Carlos of Davenport, Iowa, and Elmer C. of Arenzville; three sisters, Mrs Maurice Jockisch of Virginia, Mrs John Taylor of Macon, and Mrs. James Rogers of Decatur; and many nieces and nephews.
   One brother preceded him in death.
   Inquest To Be Scheduled Coroner Joe Lintner of Chandlerville and Deputy Paul Harrison have selected a jury for the inquest to be scheduled later. Jurors viewed the body today and the coroner started assembling evidence to present at the inquest next week.

Harold C. Reichert, 1912-2004, Moberly, Mo.
   Harold C. Reichert, 91, of Moberly, Mo., and formerly of Winchester and Pittsfield, died Saturday afternoon Feb. 21, 2004, at North Village Park Care Center in Moberly.
   He was born April 14, 1912, in Beardstown, the son of the late William Fred and Katie Alice Guildersleeve Reichert. He married Ruth B. Gilman on May 22, 1946, in Springfield, and she survives in Moberly.
   He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mildred Reichert of Moberly and Miranda Reichert of New Braunfels, Texas; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.
   Mr. Reichert served in the U.S. Army in Battery A 171st Cavalry as an artillery mechanic. He saw active duty in W.W. II in the campaign of Gaudalcanal, New Guinea and Northern Solomon Islands. He received three Bronze Battle Stars and five overseas bars. He worked for Sears and then as a Dental Courier Service out of Chicago. After retiring to Winchester he worked at the Winchester High School. He was always active, and he loved to travel. His greatest love was helping others, especially children.
   Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Coonrod Funeral Home in Winchester, with burial at the Winchester City Cemetery, where military services will be conducted.    Herman G. Reichert, 83 years, of Virginia, IL died Tuesday, February 13, 2007 at Regency Hospital in Greenville, SC.
   He was born August 22, 1923 in Bluff Springs, IL; the son of Oscar Grover and Rose Amelia Ruppel Reichert. He married J. Marie Charles on March 14, 1942 in Hannibal, MO and she preceded in death on December 25, 1988.
   He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Albers (husband, Raymond) of Simpsonville, SC; two sons, H. Gary Reichert (wife, Barb) of Lincoln and Stephen Reichert of Virginia; six grandchildren, Stacey Albers (wife, Pam) of Fountain Inn, SC, Heather Reichert of Carpentersville, Michael Reichert of Virginia, Eric Reichert of Lincoln, Brandon Reichert of Springfield, and Breanna Reichert of Virginia; two great grandchildren; a brother, Roscoe Reichert (wife, Helen) of Bluff Springs; and several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Alvin "Barney" Reichert (surviving wife, Dolores of Virginia).
   Mr. Reichert attended Warrior School and graduated from Beardstown High School in 1941. He served with the US Army from June 7, 1943 until January 28, 1946 stationed in the European Theater. He worked for Burlington Railroad for 8 years and was a mail carrier for the US Postal Service for 26 years. He also farmed with his brothers, Roscoe and Barney, for several years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Virginia and the Virginia American Legion Post. A charter member, he was formerly active in the Virginia Lions Club.
   Funeral services will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, February 20, 2007 at the Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia with burial and military honors at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.    Funeral services for Herman G. Reichert were held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday Feb. 20, 2007, at Massie Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia with the Rev. Jill Flynn officiating. The organist was Eileen Fiedler and music included "Just As I Am," "Amazing Grace" and "God Be With You Till We Meet Again." Pallbearers were Jamie Reichert, Tom Pettit, Jeff, Andy and David Little and Mike Miller. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Blum, Lloyd Schroeder and John and Jeremy Dotzert. Burial was at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia with military rites conducted by Beardstown VFW Post 1239.

Services Held Friday For Oscar G. Reichert
    Oscar G. Reichert, age 74, of 211 East Third Street In Beardstown, passed away at the Holy Cross Hospital, in Jacksonville, Tuesday at 9:10 p.m. He had been a patient there for the past 12 days.
   He was born in Bluff Springs on Dec. 1, 1892, the son of John H. and Mary Lynn Reichert. He was baptized and confirmed In St. John's Lutheran Church Bluff Springs. He was a member of the church council for a number of years. On Aug. 26, 1915, he married Rose A. Ruppel at St. Peters Parsonage near Arenzville.
   He was a faithful worker in the church. He farmed until disabled by arthritus when he moved to Beardstown.
    He was a member of Cass County ASC Committee for 15 years.
   He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Raymond, and an infant sister, Bernice.
   Surviving are his wife, Rose A.; three sons, Roscoe, who lives on the home place, Alvin and Herman at Virginia, Ill., nine Grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, several other relatives and a host of friends.
   Services were at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs on Friday at 2 p.m., with Rev. Lowell Buss officiating. The remains were taken to the church at 1 p.m. to lie in state.
   Burial was in the City Cemetery at Beardstown.

REICHERT, Roscoe John Henry
Roscoe John Henry Reichert, July 6, 1916-August 11, 2011
   Roscoe John Henry Reichert. 95 of Virginia, passed into God�s eternal light and grace on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Snyder�s Vaughn Haven Nursing Home in Rushville. He was born On July 6, 1916 to Oscar and Rose Reichert, at the family farm west of Virginia, IL.
   He married Helen Louise Landreth on October 23, 1938 in New London, Missouri. Roscoe is survived by his wife, Helen, of 72 years; his son Jon (wife Joyce) Reichert; his granddaughter Lori (husband Ron) Moon; his great grandchildren Ashley and Michael Moon; and his great great granddaughter Niki Moon all of Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Alvin and Herman Reichert.
   Roscoe belonged to St. John�s Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs and served several terms on the churchs� council, taught Sunday School class, conducted church services, participated in the church choir, and was on several church committees. He was a devoted Christian and strong in his faith. He farmed most of his life, worked for Cass Farmers Oil delivering fuel, provided 36 years of services for the Cass County A.S.C.S office, participated in multi-township board, appointed to the Bluff Springs Township Board for over 30 years, volunteered many years on the Democratic Central Committee for Cass County, provided support as an election judge in Bluff Springs, and was co-owner of Cass Implement. During his early adulthood, Roscoe played baseball with Country Life, played softball with Smitty�s Ice Cream Parlor, and co-managed the Houston Cleaner Baseball team. In his later years, he enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with his family. Roscoe will be remembered by family and friends for his unwavering integrity and his willingness to lend a hand to those in need.
   Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers memorials have been suggested to St. John�s Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs, Diabetes Foundation, or American Heart Association. Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown is in charge of arrangements.

Phyllis D. Reichert - 1914-2003 - Bluff Springs, Illinois
   Phyllis D. Reichert, 88, of Bluff Springs, died Saturday morning, Feb. 8, 2003 at her residence.
   She was born Feb. 28, 1914, in Virginia, the daughter of Rudolph and Bessie Trussell Jokisch. She married Roy Reichert March 8, 1936, at the home of her parents in Bluff Springs, and he preceded her in death. Jan. 16, 1996.
   She is survived by one son, Randal (wife, Sue) of Bluff Springs; one daughter, Kathy McMurl (companion, Terry Buhlig) of Bluff Springs; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Jokisch.
   Mrs. Reichert graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1931. She also graduated from Decatur Macon County Hospital School of Nursing in 1935 as a registered nurse. She was an active member of the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church, Beardstown Woman's Club, and the First National Bank of Beardstown Premiere Choice Club. She enjoyed spending every Tuesday with the "Girls' Club" and going out to eat. She was a frequent writer for Capper's Weekly and delighted in spending many hours working puzzles, reading, and following her favorite baseball team, the St. Louis Cardinals. She cherished the time spent with her family and friends.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church, with burial at the Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 4:30-7 p.m. today at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Her remains will also lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service on Monday. Rose Reichert
   Rose Reichert, 94, 211 East 3rd Street, Beardstown, died early Friday morning October 23, 1992 at her residence.
   She was born June 16. 1898 In Cass County, the daughter of Henry J. and Amelia Krohe Ruppel. She married Oacar Reichert on August 24, 1915. He preceded her in death on September 5. 1967.
   She is survived by: two sons, Roscoe and Herman Reichert, both of Virginia: nine grandchildren: sixteen great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one sister, Marie. one brother, Herman and one son, Alvin Barney Reichert.
   She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church of Bluff Springs.
   Funeral services were held Monday morning at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs with the Pastor Abe Gonzalez the officiant.
   Organist was Eileen Fiedler.
   Pallbearer were H. Gary Reichert. Steven L. Reichert. Raymond Albers, Jon Reichert, Mike Miller, Charles Dillard, Regis Kinsley and James Reichert. Honorary pallbearer was David Robson.
   Burial was In Beardstown City Cemetery.
    Cline Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Roy O. Reichert
   BLUFF SPRINGS - Roy O. Reichert, 83 of Bluff Springs, died Tuesday morning, Jan. 16, 1996, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   He was born July 9, 1912, in Bluff Springs, the son of Elmer S. and Cora Oetgen Reichert. He married Phyllis Jokisch March 8, 1936, in Bluff Springs and she survives.
   He is also survived by one son, Randal (wife, Sue) Reichert and one daughter, Kathy McMurl, both of Bluff Springs; two grandsons; four granddaughters; one great-grandchild; two brothers, Carlos Reichert of Melford and Elmer C. Reichert of Virginia; two sisters, Hazel Taylor of Mt. Ayre, Iowa, and Lorene Rogers of Decatur.
   He was preceded in death by two brothers, Floyd R. and Norman; and one sister, Annabel Jokisch.
   Mr. Reichert was a member of the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church and the Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 and a former member of Beardstown Park Board and Bluff Springs Township Officials for many years. He was a retired farmer and Postmaster of the Bluff Springs Post Office.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church with burial at the Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Cline Funeral Home in Beardstown with the family meeting friends 6-8 p.m. Mr. Reichert will be taken to the church one hour prior to services Thursday to lie in state. Memorials are suggested to the Bluff Springs United Methodist Church or the Elks Crippled Children Foundation.

Violet Reichert, 1910-2007, Beardstown
   Violet L. Reichert, 97, of Beardstown, died Wednesday morning, Dec. 5, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   She was born April 24, 1910, in rural Adams County, the daughter of Richard and Lydia Krohe Launer. She married Floyd Reichert on Feb. 19, 1933, in Bluff Springs, and he preceded her in death June 6, 1961.
   She is survived by one brother, Earl (wife, Dorothy) Launer of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews, including nephew and caregiver, Donnie Harris of Beardstown. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Gilbert (surviving wife, Fairy of Beardstown), Ralph, Harvey, Marvin and Everett Launer; and two sisters, Ruth Spoon and Ruby Hacker.
   Mrs. Reichert was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs. She was previously employed with the Beardstown Hospital for 20 years and Illinois Glove Factory in Beardstown for seven years.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs.

Alma J. Reid, 1907-2003, Virginia
   Alma J. Reid, 96, of Virginia, died Thursday morning, Oct. 9, 2003, at her residence.
   She was born June 4, 1907, in Paragould, Ark., the daughter of William Lewis and Sylvia M. Barr Dunnagan. She married Tribble McAnally and he preceded her in death in 1929. She later married Kenneth E. Reid and he preceded her in death in 1969.
   She is survived by two granddaughters, Sarah (husband, Scott) Mefford of rural Virginia and Becky (husband, Clyde) Foret of New Orleans; one grandson, Donald L. Glossop Jr. of New Orleans; two great-grandchildren; and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Peggy Glossop; and one grandson, Donald Scott Glossop.
   Mrs. Reid was involved several years with a variety of businesses, including owning and operating a nursing home in Havana, later established a restaurant in Beardstown (now known as the Star Cafe') and finally owning and operating Virginia Furniture Mart in Virginia.
   Graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, where the family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday. REILEY, Maxine Naoma Crafton
   Maxine Naoma Crafton Reiley, 88, passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at Prairie Village Healthcare Center in Jacksonville.
   She was born Jan. 20, 1925, in Beardstown, the daughter of William and Stella Surratt Crafton. She was married to Chester R. Todd, who lives in Quincy.
   She is survived by three sons, Richard (Helen) Todd of Chambersburg, Brian Todd of Libby, MT, and William (Saretta) Todd of Benton; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Lavina Crafton, Billie Jean Crafton, and her dearest loving sister, Rosella Crafton Murray.

REISER, Alvena D. - November 11, 1909 - July 10, 2008
Alvena D. Reiser, 98, of Springfield died Thursday, July 10, 2008 at Menard Convalescent Center in Petersburg.
   Alvena was born November 11, 1909, in Philadelphia, IL the daughter of John and Mary Finn Devlin. She married Leo Reiser on June 14, 1938 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, IL. He preceded her in death on October 23, 1995.
   Mrs. Reiser is survived by one daughter, Rosemary (Michael) Stepner of San Diego, CA; three sons, Tom (Ginny) Reiser of Petersburg, Bob (Martha) Reiser of Petersburg, and Bill (Mary) Reiser of Concord, CA; sixteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren. She is also survived by two very special cousins, Mary Margaret Devlin of Ashland and Sister Jonette Devlin, O.S.F. of Greenbay, WI.
   She was raised in St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, Il., was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Havana, St. Agnes Catholic Church in Springfield, and St. Peter Catholic Church in Petersburg. After her mother's death in 1917 Alvena was enrolled at Sacred Heart Academy as a fourth grader. She boarded there during the week and returned home for the weekends. She graduated from SHA in 1927. In the fall of 1928 she began her studies at Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb. She graduated in June of 1931 with an associate degree in Education. In 2001 Alvena was inducted into the SHG Hall of Fame and was acknowledged as the oldest living Sacred Heart boarder. During the presentation she was described as a 'woman of great faith' who had helped many others by sharing her 'wisdom, love and monetary assistance.'
   Alvena taught for four years at Fairview Country School in Sangamon County. She then taught at Gurney school in Cass County for five years. She and Leo were co-owners of Reiser Grain Co. in Greenview from 1962 through 1990.
   Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 15, 2008 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, Father Bob Jallas will be officiating. Visitation will be held Monday July 14, 2008 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. and also from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg.
   Burial will be in St. Augustine Catholic Cemetery in Ashland.
   Memorial contributions may be made to St. Agnes Catholic Church, St. Augustine Catholic Church. St. Peter Catholic Church, or to the organization of the donor's choice.

REITHER, Mrs. Andrew - The Republican-Gazette, Virginia, Cass County, IL, Sept. 20, 1918
   Mrs. Andrew Reither Dies at Hospital
   Death was result of injuries received in fall several weeks ago. Deceased was born in this city and lived here her entire life, was well known. Anna Boyd Reither was born in Virginia, Illinois in the month on April, 1847, a daughter of Charles and Susan Boyd, who were among the earliest settlers of this county and her entire life was spent in this city. In 1870 she was united in marriage to Andrew Reither. Six children were born to the, three of whom died in infancy and two died with diptheria at the age of six and seven years. She is survived by one son, Albert Reither, of this city, together with her husband, two brothers, Charles and Gideon Boyd, one sister, Mrs. Samuel Charles and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Reither united with the local Church of Christ in early life and remained a member until her death at Springfield, last Thursday evening. About two weeks ago Mrs. Reither fell in the yard at her home and fractured a hip bone. Previous to that time she had been a great sufferer from the effects of a fall sustained about two years ago and her condition was such that she could not rally from the operation performed at the hospital. Funeral services were held from the Church of Christ, Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, Rev. C.E. French officiating. Interment was in Walnut Ridge cemetery.
