Evelyn K. Moeller, 1920-2008, Beardstown
   Evelyn K. Moeller, 88, of Beardstown, died Monday morning, March 10, 2008, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
   She was born Jan. 2, 1920, in Cook County, the daughter of Henry Otto and Martha Knauer. She married Carl R. Moeller on Nov. 30, 1946, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and he preceded her in death.
   She is survived by one son, Fredrick C. Sr. of Beardstown; two grandchidren, Fredrick C. Moeller Jr. of Chicago and Jesse Dean of Hogansville, Ga.; and one brother, Clifford Fredrick Knauer of Miami.
   Mrs. Moeller was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She was formerly employed at Schultz-Baujan Mill and Millard Florist in Beardstown.
   Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at a later date at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery near Beardstown. MOELLER, Fred - Illinoian Star, Jan. 31,1953
   Fred Moeller, who resided at 317 West Third street, died last night at a hospital in Jacksonville where he had been a patient only a few days. Mr.Moeller had been in failing health. The body was brought to Cline's Funeral Home in this city today and funeral arrangements and obituary will be given later. Mr. Moeller was employed for many years at Long's Grocery. He was a member of the Elk's Lodge and was well known in Beardstown. Since last July, Mr. Moeller had lived alone at his home at 317 West Third street. His sister, the late Ella Rosier, resided there with him until her death in July 1952.

   Ivan D. Monroe Sr., 81, of Ashland, IL died Sunday, August 10, 2014, at his home.
   He was born June 26, 1933 in Cass County, the son of Roy and Mabel Curry Monroe. He married Edna Tankersley on June 12, 1955 and she survives.
   He is also survived by three children, Ivan Dale Monroe Jr. of Springfield, Kathryn Monroe (Dwayne Rudolph) of Ashland, and Roy Monroe (Jessica) of Ashland; six grandchildren, Kyle Monroe (Lacie Nichols) of Murrayville, Brittany Monroe (Shaun McFadden) of Ashland, Olivia Nevitt (Patrick Eckhard) of Springfield, Bubba Nevitt of Springfield, Nikyla Monroe of Ashland, and Alyssa Monroe of Ashland; and two great grandchildren, Tigh Monroe of Murrayville and James Eckhard of Springfield.
   He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, David Monroe; and a sister, Barbara Watkins.
   Mr. Monroe was a 1951 graduate of Ashland High School and a life-long resident of Ashland. He farmed with his family prior to his employment with Ashland Farmers Elevator, Alexander Lumber Yard, Howden Fan Company in Springfield, and more recently at Allen’s Market in Ashland. He was a member of the New Beginnings Church and attended First Baptist Church, both in Ashland. He enjoyed bowling and wood crafts in his spare time.
   At his request, cremation has been accorded by Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home and Crematory in Ashland. The family will conduct memorial services at 1:00 pm, Friday, August 15, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Ashland. James William Montgomery, 1941-2007, Beardstown
   James William Montgomery, 65, of Beardstown, died Saturday evening, Jan. 6, 2007, at his residence.
   He was born Feb. 21, 1941, in Beardstown, the son of Jake and Betty Mills Montgomery. He married Hattie Ragland Stephenson on May 6, 1962, in Beardstown, and she preceded him in death April 9, 2004.
   He is survived by five sons, Charles Montgomery, Delbert Stephenson and Richard Stephenson, all of Beardstown, James Montgomery of Lexington, Ky., and Edward (wife, Teresa) Stephenson of Bluffs; one daughter, Rixie Lyons of Decatur; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; one brother, David of Springfield; and four sisters, Beverly Dotzert of Mount Sterling; Jean Montgomery of Kansas City, Kan., Patricia Montgomery of California; and Fay Montgomery of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents; his companion, Verna Lisenbee; and one brother, Bud.
   Mr. Montgomery was formerly employed with Burlington-Northern Railroad in Beardstown. He enjoyed mowing yards and repairing lawn mowers.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Black Oak Cemetery near Beardstown. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the graveside service at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

MOORE, Jack Allen
   Jack Allen Moore, 73 of Beardstown, died Monday morning, March 14, 2011 at his home with his loving wife Beverly and constant companion Jo (his pet dog) by his side He was born June 11, 1937 in Cass County, the son of Jack D. and Nellie Mae Hoke Moore. He married Beverly J. Kline on April 24, 1992 in Beardstown. Surviving is his wife Beverly of Beardstown; two stepdaughters Suzanne (husband Kraig) Prather of Rushville and Sherry (husband Dave) Wells of Beardstown; three granddaughters Alexa and Kloie Prather of Rushville, and Kaitlin Wells of Beardstown; one sister Doris Moore of Beardstown, a nephew Rick Taylor of Beardstown; and a half brother Larry Moore of Clayton. He was preceded in death by his parents. Jack graduated from Rushville High School. He retired from CIPS Meredosia Power Plant as an Operating Engineer. He was Illinois State Golf Chairman and Chairman of Cass County Ducks Unlimited for several years. Jack was a longtime member of Beardstown BPOE Elks Lodge #1007 and a past member of Beardstown Lions Club. He loved a good round of golf and was nicknamed the Wedge. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Bears fan. Hunting, fishing, gardening, and traveling were all very enjoyable for Jack but most of all he loved to be surrounded by his family, friends, and dogs. Memorial services will be held at 11 AM Saturday, March 19, 2011 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Rushville City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice or Elks Crippled Children.

MOORE, Judith Elizabeth
   Judith Elizabeth Moore, 71 of Beardstown, went to be with her Lord Thursday afternoon, March 17th, 2011. She passed at her home surrounded by her loving family. Judy was born November 17, 1939 in Beardstown, the daughter of Albert Herman and Frieda Lydia Elizabeth (Yagow) Kuhlman. She married Verl William "Bill" Moore on January 1st, 1955 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, IL. Surviving are her husband, Bill, of Beardstown; three sons, Mark (wife Vicky) of Ammerthal, Germany, Matthew (wife Lou Ann) of Pevely, MO, and Patrick Joseph "P.J." (wife Tiffini) of New Berlin, IL; one granddaughter, Kelly of Bad Durkheim, Germany; one grandson, Brandon (wife Abby) of Grayville, IL; and one great-granddaughter, Mallory Elizabeth of Grayville, IL. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mary Kathryn. Judy graduated from Beardstown High School, Class of 1957. Judy was a life long member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she chaired the Helping Hands Committee. She worked for Illinois Bell Telephone Co., the Beardstown Clinic and Beardstown Chamber of Commerce/United Way. Judy also served for 22 years on the Beardstown School Board from 1987-2009 and was a long time member of the Beardstown Lions Club. She had a passion of cooking for her family and friends, was an avid bowler and golfer and loved cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Most important to Judy was spending time surrounded by friends and family and watching over her children and grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 PM Sunday, March 20, 2011 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-9 PM Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Mary Imogene Moore, 1922-2008, Beardstown
   Mary Imogene Moore, 85, of Beardstown, died Wednesday, March 12, 2008, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   She was born June 3, 1922, in Buenevista Township near Rushville, the daughter of Johnie Franklin and Verena Margaret Dodds Kinsey. She married Joseph "Joe" Moore on Nov. 16, 1941, in Springfield, and he preceded her in death Nov. 23, 2004.
   She is survived by one brother, Bill (wife, Ruth) Kinsey of Arenzville; two sisters, June (husband, Harold) Beard of Roseville and Audrey Vinent of Camden; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Loren Kinsey; and one sister, Alice Young.
   Mrs. Moore graduated from Rushville High School in 1940. She was a member of First Christian Church in Beardstown and served on the ground breaking committee of the present church. She was a member of and held several offices in the Order of the Eastern Star. She held secretarial positions prior to her marriage. She and her husband then farmed south of Beardstown and were also bus drivers for the Beardstown School District. She was also formerly employed by Millard Florist in Beardstown. She was a gifted piano player, a good cook and an immaculate home maker -- caring well for her surroundings, flowers, garden and yard.
   Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at First Christian Church in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Nellie M. Moore, 1910-2007, Beardstown
   Nellie Mae Moore, 97, of Beardstown, and formerly of Rushville, died Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 31, 2007, at her residence.
   She was born Aug. 18, 1910, in Schuyler County, the daughter of Charles and Elizabeth Ann Harris Hoke. She married John D. "Jack" Moore and he preceded her in death in March 1977.
   She is survived by one son, Jack (wife, Beverly) of Beardstown; one daughter, Doris of Beardstown; one grandson, Rick Taylor of Beardstown; two stepgrand-daughters, Suzanne (husband, Kraig) Prather of Rushville and Sherry (husband, Dave) Wells of Beardstown; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
   Mrs. Moore attended Christian Neck School in Schuyler County and Rushville High School. She was previously employed at Cudahays Packing in Rushville until her retirement in 1976 after which she cleaned homes in Rushville. She was an avid quilter and loved her family and her faithful poodle, Rusty.
   Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Rushville City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 10 a.m. until time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Cass/Schuyler Area Hospice. Robert E Moore - 1924-2008
   Robert E Moore, 83 of Havana, passed away at 2:40 p.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008 at the V.A. Hopsital in Danville, IL.
   He was born June 19, 1924 in Chicago as the son of Walter Hubert Moore and Mildred Margaret Johnson. On August 18, 1951 he married Shirley Gillice of Evergreen Park, IL and they raised a family of five children in Virginia, IL. Shirley preceded him in death in 1984. Robert later wed Evelyn Watson on December 30, 1986 in Havana, where she resides today.
   Mr. Moore owned and operated the Midwest Pallet Company in Virginia and later Havana until his retirement in 1986. He was a lifetime member of Havana VFW Post #6408, the Havana Paddlewheel Bowling Association and the Lakewood Golf Association. He attended Onarga Military Academy and 302nd Infantry Regiment 94th Division under Gen. George S Patton in Central Europe from 1944-1945.
   In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Bruce (wife, Sue) Moore of Palatine; four daughter, Beverly Sanders of Springfield, Brenda (husband, Kevin) Hamm of Bunn, NC, Bonnie (husband Phillip) Douglas of Springfield, and Bette (husband William P.) Brady of Tinley Park. Also surviving are four step-sons, Kendall (Patti) Miller of Lewistown, Kevin (Shari) Miller and Kimball (Pauline) Miller borth of Havana, Kent (Beth) Miller of Roodhouse; three step-daughters, Kara (James) Garrett of Havana, Kaylynn (Scott) Pherigo of Topeka and Kamie Miller of Peoria. Twenty-seven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and his twin sister Betty Adkins of Chicago also survive.
   Private graveside services will be held at a later date at Camp Butler National Cemetery in Springfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Danville Veteran's Medical Center. The Hurley Funeral Home in Havana is in charge of the arrangements.

   Verl William "Bill" Moore, 74, of Beardstown, died Sunday, August 7th at Memorial Hospital in Springfield. At the time of his passing, Bill was surrounded by his loving family and lifelong friends. Bill was born March 25, 1937 in New Salem, IL, the son of Earl and Doretta (Newbern) Moore. He married Judy Kuhlmann January 1, 1955. She preceded him in death on March 17, 2011. Survivors are three sons, Mark (wife Vicky) of Ammerthal, Germany, Matt (wife Lou Ann) of Pevely, Missouri, and PJ (wife Tiffini) of New Berlin, Illinois. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Kelly Schubert (husband Jens) of Bad Durkheim, Germany, and Brandon Moore (wife Abby) of Grayville, Illinois. Bill had one great-grandchild, Mallory of Grayville. Bill has one brother surviving, Roy Moore of Beardstown. Bill was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Jane Delaney and Pauline Deloche, and one brother, Kenny Moore. Bill graduated from Beardstown High School in 1956, where he was a 14-time letter winner in football, basketball, baseball, and track. He also sang in the chorus. He farmed for more than 18 years, then worked for over 28 years as a brakeman and conductor for the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad, from which he retired in 1999. Bill was a long time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, loved to bowl, golf, and hunt. Bill most loved watching his sons play and coach various sports, and spending time with family. Funeral services will be held at 1 pm Sunday, August 14, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown. Burial will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 5-8 pm Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Stephen Ministry of St. John's Lutheran Church in Beardstown, IL or the Beardstown Boys Baseball Association.

   Michael Christopher Morales, 25, Beardstown, died Sunday morning, July 8, 2007, in Industry.
   He was born Sept. 22, 1981, in El Paso, Texas, the son of Manuel A. Morales and Epifania Manzo.
   He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Epifania Manzo and Enrique Rios of Beardstown; his father, Manuel Morales of Texas; one daughter, Alexis Lee Avila of El Paso, Texas; one son, Dalton Large of Alsey; one brother, Gabriel Rodriguez of Texas; his maternal grandmother, Josefa Celis of Mexico; his paternal grandmother, Carmen Morales of Texas; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
   Mr. Morales attended St. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown. He was employed at Mossberg Sanitation, Inc. at Cargill Meat Solutions in Beardstown.
   Funeral Mass will be celebrated noon Saturday at St.. Alexius Catholic Church in Beardstown, with burial at St. Alexius Catholic Cemetery in Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 2-6 p.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

MORGAN, Amanda - Illinoian Star, Beardstown, Illinois, Monday, March 11, 1907 - Submitted by Carol Orwig
   Mrs. Amanda Morgan died Sunday morning at 10 o'clock at her home five miles southwest of this city after a lingering illness of pneumonia. Amanda Howell was born at Hagener this county, on April 1st, 1835 and on January 10th 1856 she was united in marriage to Simeon Morgan. To this union nine children were born, six of whom with the husband are left to mourn her death. The funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Sand Prairie Church, interment occurring in the cemetery nearby.

Linda Lucille Morris, Sept. 28, 1960-Nov. 5, 2011
   Linda Lucille Morris, 51, of Beardstown, died Saturday, Nov. 5, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. She was born Sept. 18, 1960, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Russell A. "Busey" and Betty F. Long Morris.
   Linda is survived by her life partner, Ann Johnson of Beardstown, one sister, Ann (husband, Louie) Chapman of Chatham, one brother, Douglas Morris of Beardstown, two very special friends, Michelle Walker and Debbie O'Hara, both of Beardstown, and additional family members Sara Johnson, Leo and Rhonda Johnson, and Connie and Bart Johnson, all of Jacksonville. She was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, Elmer and Elizabeth Long and Lucille Buckalew.
   Linda was a 1978 graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended MacMurray College from 1978-82. She holds the record for most points scored during a college career for both men's and women's basketball at MacMurray. She also excelled at both slow- and fast-pitch softball, playing all positions. Following college, she worked at UPS and as a Daycare Center in Jacksonville.
   Linda loved working with people. She was a pharmacy technician at Martin Rexall Pharmacy in Beardstown for many years and her expertise in Home Healthcare Services allowed her to help many people in Beardstown and the surrounding communities.
   Linda loved spending time with family and friends, including her best dog friends, Wilson and Maggie. She was an excellent cook, especially known for her fried chicken, and loved driving her jeep and watching all kinds of television shows. She was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan. Linda will be missed by the many people who were fortunate enough to know her.
   Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Thursday at the Williamson Funeral Home, with entombment in Diamond Grove Mausoleum. Rev. Carla Brown Smith conducted the formal service and Kelly Stocker addressed the congregation. The poem "Nothing Gold Can Stay" was read, and songs In The Garden, Somewhere Over The Rainbow, When It Don't Come Easy, Amazing Grace, and Talking To My Angel were played. Pallbearers were Kenny O'Hara, Mike French, Gary Martin, Leo Johnson, Steve Patterson, and Keith Lipcaman, and honorary pallbearers were Louie Chapman and Tom Long. The family met with friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice or Protective Animal Welfare Services (P.A.W.S.).    Raymond E. Morris, 78, of Virginia, IL died Tuesday morning, December 15, 2009 at his residence.
   He was born January 25, 1931 in Canton, IL; the son of Roscoe M. and Edith Tompkins Morris. He married Barbara Updike on January 21, 1955 in Chandlerville, IL and she survives.
   He is also survived by six children, Michael R. Morris ( Rozella) of Virginia, Mark Morris of Virginia, Toni Lyons (Jim) of Virginia, Tim D. Morris (Shon) of Chandlerville, Thomas G. Morris of Springfield, and Karen L. Clay (Anthony); seven grandchildren, Michelle Weatherby, Bradley Lyons, Keri Lyons, Kenny Morris, Trevor Clay, Kameron Clay, and Chandler Clay; four step grandchildren, Kerry Mundy, Rachel Mundy, Tannon Clay, and Ashton Clay; five great grandchildren; a step great granddaughter; two brothers, Paul Morris (Flossie) of Rushville and Bernard Morris (Gloria) of Reedsport, OR; three sisters, Ruth Morris, Ruby Bell (Dale), and Barbara Bell (Franklin), all of Virginia: and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Jim, Asa, Roscoe Jr., and Eugene Morris.
   Mr. Morris farmed with his brothers from 1949 to 1961 with his work interrupted from 1952-1954 while he served his country in the US Army stationed in Japan. He worked for the Illinois State Highway Department from 1961 to 1969 and from 1969 was employed at Oscar Meyer (later Excel) in Beardstown until his retirement in 1995. He also served as the custodian for First Presbyterian Church in Virginia from 1976 until 2004. He enjoyed keeping busy and found he enjoyed working whenever possible and walking for exercise. He always found time to be a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church and the Virginia American Legion Post #258.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held 10:30 AM Friday, December 18, 2009 at the First Presbyterian Church in Virginia with burial and military honors at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the First Presbyterian Church from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Thursday. Memorial gifts are suggested to the First Presbyterian Church.    Ella, wife of Edwin Morrison of Arenzville died in Bluff Springs while visiting her daughters, Mrs. Davis and Mrs. Buxton. She was buried Friday at Mathews graveyard. She was 50 and death due to lung fever. (This cemetery is also called James Richardson).

MORROW, Colleen Ellen
Colleen Ellen Morrow, 100, of Ashland, IL passed away Monday, January 28, 2013 at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia, IL.
   She was born December 29, 1912 in Island Grove Township of Sangamon County, the daughter of Emmitt Walker and Eva Lena Huff Sudeth. She married Lewis T. Morrow on July 28, 1928 in St. Charles, MO and he preceded her in death on June 16, 1985. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Arlene Frances Morrow; a grandson, Chip Stevens; and twelve brothers and sisters.
   She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis Jean Stevens (husband, Wayne) of Ashland; a granddaughter, Julia Ellen Jokisch (husband, Marshall) of Ashland; five great grandchildren, Whitney Jokisch of Ashland, Senior Airman Logan Jokisch stationed at Scott AFB, Kayla and Morgan Stevens of Athens, and Michelle Voudrie of Athens; two sisters, Eunice Watkins of Ashland and Sylvia Foster of Jacksonville; and many nieces and nephews.
   Colleen was a homemaker all of her life and loved being around her family members. She was a great cook, very talented with a crochet needle, and loved her vegetable and flower gardens. She loved to attend auctions at every opportunity. Colleen and her husband were charter members of the Yatesville Community Club and attended square dances every other Saturday. She was a member of Peter Cartwright United Methodist Church in Pleasant Plains.
   Funeral services will be held 2:30 pm Friday, February 1, 2013 at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Ashland with burial at Pleasant Plains Cemetery in Pleasant Plains. The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 1:00 pm Friday until the time of services.    Died at the residence of her parents in Oregon Precinct, Mrs. Nancy Morrow, age 34, of dropsy. She leaves a daughter, her mother and a sister.

MOSS, Jean - February 10, 1940-February 2, 2012
   Jean Moss, 71, Brookline, Missouri, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2012, in her home. She was born February 10, 1940, in Beardstown, Il. She received her education in the Arenzville, Il, schools. On April 27, 1958, she was united in marriage to Edwin Moss in Salem, Ar.
   Jean was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She was very active in the church serving on the Altar Guild, Money Counter and the Widow's Support Group of Redeemer Lutheran Church. She loved to crochet and do various crafts, crossword puzzles, read and volunteered at church.
   She was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin Moss, her father, Oliver Saylor, and grandson, Garrett Moss. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Ratcliff, Three children, Randy Moss, Gary Moss (Ladonna), Sherry (Moss) Weber and (Brian), 10 Grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, Two brothers, Bobby Saylor (Becky), Steve Saylor (Yolanda), One sister, Rena Belisle (Ron), and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
   Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South, 441 W. Battlefield, Springfield, Mo. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 9, 2012, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2852 S. Dayton, Springfield. Burial will follow in Holland cemetery near Rogersville. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Springfield Lutheran School at 2852 S. Dayton Springfield, Mo 65807 or Cystic Fibrosis.

   Teresa Jean Springer Moulton, 55, of Virginia, IL passed away peaceably Tuesday, June 5, 2012 at the home of her parents, LeRoy and Edra Anderson.
   She was born December 13, 1956 in Duluth, MN; the daughter of Billie Gene and Edra Corbin Springer.
   She is survived by her parents, Leroy and Edra Anderson of Virginia; two daughters, Melissa Lucas (husband, William) of Marion and Christina Bingham of Virginia; three brothers, Bob Springer (wife, Julie) of Sparks, NV, Mike Springer (wife, Patty) of Redding, CA, and Jimmy Roy (wife, Rhonda) of Ashland; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and her closest friends, Deb Whitcomb and Jenny Bright. She was preceded in death by her father, Billie Gene Springer.
   Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, June 8, 2012 at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. MOWRY, Gilbert
Gilbert Mowry, April 6, 1916-June 28, 2014
   Gilbert Mowry, 98, of Virginia and formerly of Ashland died Saturday, June 28, 2014 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   He was born April 6, 1916 in Pleasant Plains, the son of Walter X. and Clara Etta Gardner Mowry. He married Mary Jane Richards on September 3, 1939 in St. Charles, MO and she preceded him in death on July 27, 1997.
   He is survived by a son, Ronald Mowry (wife, Mary Ann) of Ashland; a daughter, Mary Louise Crouch of Jacksonville; two grandsons; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Walter Lee Mowry, and three sisters, Emma Rust, Ethel Boner, and Mary Alice McMillan.
   Gilbert farmed for over 30 years and later worked for Hagen Plumbing and Heating. He retired from the maintenance department of the Village of Ashland. He was a member of the Pleasant Plains Church of Christ.
   Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday at Pleasant Plains Church of Christ with burial at Pleasant Plains Cemetery. The family will meet friends at the church from 10:00 am Tuesday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts are suggested to the Pleasant Plains Church of Christ.
