MACRANDER, James Edward
   James Edward Macrander, July 12, 1957-April 5, 2012
   James Edward Macrander, 54, of Virginia, IL died Thursday, April 5, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
   He was born July 12, 1957 in St. Joseph, MO; the son of James E. Sr. and Elizabeth Pearl Odell Macrander. He married Carla Ann Stults on April 8, 2000 in Virginia, IL and she survives.
   He is also survived by two sons, James Kenneth Macrander of Jacksonville and Christopher Brian Macrander of Lincoln; three step children, Jeff Stults (wife, Fanchon) of Pleasant Plains, Mary Releford of Virginia, and Joseph Releford of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Jocia Macrander of Lincoln, Hannah and Claire Stults, both of Pleasant Plains, and Arionna, Joseph, and Gabriella Releford, all of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Cheryl Snow.
   Mr. Macrander was employed for 11 years at Cargill Meat Solutions in Beardstown. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Virginia.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 11:00 am Monday, April 9, 2012, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 9:30 to 10:30 am Monday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. Memorial gifts may be given to the family.    Robert Lee "Bobby" Maddox, 74, of Virginia, IL was pronounced dead Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at his residence.
   He was born November 26, 1934 in Philadelphia, IL; the son of C. Leo and Pearl Hankins Maddox. He married Rose Laughary and they later divorced.
   He is survived by two sons, Robert Dale Maddox (wife, Amy) of Chandlerville and George W. Maddox (wife, Patricia) of Jacksonville; five grandchildren, Richard Phillips of Meredosia, Alyssa and Jennifer Maddox, both of Chandlerville, and Blake and Brandy Maddox, both of Jacksonville; a niece; and a nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Leo Jr. Maddox.
   Mr. Maddox farmed with his family for many years and later worked for the Virginia Park System and Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.

   Walter C. Maddox, 93, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Virginia, died Saturday evening, May 20, 2006, at the Jacksonville Convalescent Center in Jacksonville.
   He was born March 2, 1913, in Virginia, the son of Clarence W. and Delia Ellen Stanley Maddox. He married Wilma G. Epperson on May 8, 1935, and she preceded him in death Aug. 30, 2002.
   He is survived by one son, Jack (wife, Vickie) of Ormond Beach, Fla.; three daughters, Shirley (husband, John E.) Blair of Chandlerville, Lois (husband, Bob) Boston of Jacksonville and Sandra (husband, Jim) Dawdy, of Murrayville; 15 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rosalie Rose of Truth Or Consequences, N.M.; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend, "Dinky." He was preceded in death by one sister, Violet Winner; and five brothers, John, Luther, Leo, Glenn and Harry.
   Mr. Maddox was retired from the Scott County Road District following 20 years of service.
   Cremation rites will be accorded. Private family committal services will be held at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Jacksonville Convalescent Center Residents Fund. Delores J. Mahnken, 1930-2007, Beardstown
   Delores j. Mahnken, 76, of Beardstown, died Friday afternoon, Jan. 5, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   She was born June 17, 1930, in Camden, the daughter of Everett and Fairy Myers Hillyer. She married Robert Campbell in 1948. She later married Jerry Mahnken in 1970, and he survives.
   She is also survived by two sons Garry (wife, Theresa) Campbell and Troy Campbell, both of Beardstown; one daughter, Vickie Krems of Beardstown; two step-daughters, Terry Jo (husband, Tom) Barker of Iowa and Tracy (husband, David) Parsons of Florida; one stepson Scott (wife, Robin) Mahnken of Springfield; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; five great-grandsons; 10 step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; three sisters, Alberta Moore and Nuretta Hester, both of Rushville, and Grace Kerr of Meredosia; and one brother James (wife, Marge) Hillyer of Springfield.
   Mrs. Mahnken was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown. She was formerly a waitress at the Arrow Restaurant in Beardstown and she retired from IGA in Beardstown.
   Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Oetgen Cemetery near Beardstown. Jerry Mahnken, 1922-2007, Beardstown
   Jerry J. Mahnken, 85, of Beardstown, died Sunday morning, Nov. 18, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   He was born May 26, 1922, in Beardstown, the son of Frank and Mary Davis Mahnken. He married Delores J. Hillyer on March 31, 1970, in Rushville, and she preceded him in death Jan. 5, 2007.
   He is survived by one son, Scott (wife, Robin) of Springfield; one daughter, Tracy (husband, David) Parsons of Florida; two stepsons, Garry (wife, Theresa) and Troy Campbell, both of Beardstown; one stepdaughter, Vickie Krems of Beardstown; eight grandchildren; nine stepgrandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters, Judy (surviving husband, Donnie) of Ashland) Brewer and Terry Jo (surviving husband, Tom of Iowa) Barker; one stepson, Ronnie Campbell; and one brother, John William (surviving wife, Clara Belle of Beardstown).
   Mr. Mahnken graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a radio engineer for PBY planes in North Africa. He was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, B.P.O. Elks 1007, Guthrie-Pierce V.F.W. Post 1239 and Cass Lodge 23 A.F. & A.M., all in Beardstown. He was employed with Central Illinois Public Service in Beardstown for 37 years until his retirement in 1983.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Oetgen Cemetery near Beardstown. The family will meet with friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Guthrie-Pierce V.F.W. Post 1239 in Beardstown or Cass/Schuyler Hospice. Anna Margaret Mahoney, 91, of rural Ashland, IL died Saturday evening, September 20, 2008 at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia, IL.
   She was born September 24, 1916 in New Berlin, IL; the daughter of Theodore and Alice Stapleton Meier. She married Richard Harold Mahoney on August 27, 1942 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in New Berlin and he preceded in death on September 25, 1996.
   She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Rogers (husband, Richard) of rural Ashland; three granddaughters, Michele Fahey (husband, Andrew) of Springfield, Alicia Rawlings (husband, Matthew) of Springfield, and Angie Muller (husband, Wade) of Jacksonville; four great grandchildren, Brendan and Brigid Fahey and Matthew and Anna Muller; a sister, Alice Boarman (husband, Bill) of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sr. Mary Mercita and Mary Dullenty, and three brothers, Vincent Meier (surviving wife, Margaret of New Berlin), James Meier, and Joseph Meier.
   Mrs. Mahoney was a graduate of Sacred Heart Academy and Springfield College in Illinois. She taught at country schools in Loami and Bluffs Springs and later substitute taught for many years in the Ashland and Pleasant Plains School Districts. She was a devoted member of St. Augustine Parish and its Altar Society. She enjoyed playing bridge and spending time with her family and friends especially attending the many activities involving her grandchildren.
   A funeral Mass will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 23, 2008 at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland with burial at St. Augustine Cemetery, west of Ashland. Frances Mahoney, 1916-2002, Ashland
   Frances Mahoney, 86, of Ashland, died Saturday morning, September 7, 2002 at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg. She was born March 11, 1916 in Ashland, the daughter of Martin and Margaret Devlin Mahoney.
   She is survived by two nephews, Patrick (wife, Patty) Davis and James (wife, Debbie) Davis, both of Tallula; one niece, Margaret Davis of Petersburg; three great-nephews; two great-nieces; one great-great-niece; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by two sisters; and two brothers.
   Miss Mahoney was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland and a graduate of Our Saviours School of Nursing in Jacksonville. She was an R.N. at St. Mary's Hospital in Decatur and St. John's Hospital in Springfield for 42 years.
   Funeral Mass will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, with burial in St. Augustine Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at the Hurley Funeral Home in Petersburg with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Memorials are suggested to St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, or to the Friends of St. John's Hospital School of Nursing.

   Martin William Mahoney, 73, of R.R. 2, died at 10:30 p.m. last Thursday at Our Saviour's hospital, Jacksonville.
   Mr. Mahoney was born July 19, 1879 in Tallula, the son of Martin and Brigid Barry Mahoney. He was married to Miss Margaret Devlin at St. Augustine church, Ashland Jan. 27, 1909, and had been engaged in farming most of his life. He was a member of St. Augustine church. Surviving besides his wife, are three daughters, Mrs. Josephine Davis of Tallula; Nita and Frances, both at home; two sons, Glenn and John W., both at home; four brothers, Simon Mahoney, Ashland; John T., St. Joseph's Home, Springfield; Mrs.Frank Hergenrother, New Berlin and Mrs. Margaret Brown, Ashland; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Augustine church, with Rev. Fr. Vincent Heraty officiating. Burial was in St. Augustine cemetery. Pall bearers were: Edward Hergenrother, Leo M. Reiser, John L. Mahoney, Patrick Devlin, Edward Mahoney, Robert Eck, John W. Devlin, and Leo Leathy. Flowers were cared for by Mrs. Charles Reiser, Mrs. Mabel Aggertt, Mrs.Rolland Whisnant, Mrs. Ruth Bergschneider, Mrs. Moulton Fulton, and Mrs. Kenny Carnahan.

   Sue Devlin Mahoney, 84, of Ashland, died Saturday morning, Dec. 17, 2005, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.
   She was born March 9, 1921, in Jacksonville, the daughter of J. Leo and Frances Plummer Devlin. She married Raymond Mahoney on Feb. 28, 1946 at St. Augustine Church in Ashland, and he preceded her in death March 1, 1977.
   She is survived by two sons, Jerry (wife, Connie) and Jim (wife, Patricia), both of rural Pleasant Plains; three daughters, Mary Sue (husband, Ed) Orne of Ashland, Barbara (husband, Bill) Mau of Carbondale and Margaret (husband, Rick) Hamann of Quincy; 11 grandchildren, Eric (wife, Tracy) Orne, Kevin Hamann and Bridget Hamann, all of Quincy, Susan (husband, Jeff) Wilkins of Liberty, Mo., Ellen (husband, Peter) Schart of Carbondale, Keith Mau of St. Louis and Nicholas, Jeffrey, Alex, Matthew and Nathan Mahoney, all of rural Pleasant Plains; one brother James P. Devlin of Ashland; one sister, Margaret P. Devlin of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Leo (surviving wife, Eleanor of Virginia) Devlin; one sister, Mary Ann (surviving husband, Raymond of Virginia) Ruppel; two brothers; and one sister in fancy.
   Mrs. Mahoney was a graduate of Ashland High School and received a teaches certificate from Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb. She taught school for several years at Gurney country school and later served as a substitute teacher in the Ashland School District. She was a member of St. Augustine Parish and the church Alter Society. She was also a member of the Ashland Women's Club and volunteer with the Bread of Love Program. She was also active as a volunteer grandparent working with the elementary school reading program.
   A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Ashland, with burial at St. Augustine Cemetery, west of Ashland. Friends may call from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home is Ashland. Prayer services will be held 4:45 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.    Joey Rachelle Maines, infant daughter of Christopher and Jailie Butler Maines of Virginia, died a few hours after birth Saturday, March 22, 2008, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
   In addition to her parents, she is survived by one brother, Jude Bay Maines at home; grandparents, Joy Kern of Milton, Kevin and Susie Butler of Pittsfield and David and Debbie Maines of Gibbstown, N.J.; great-grandparents, Jean Kern and Johnnie Kern, both of Milton, Margaret Butler of Pittsfield and Walt and Renee Parsons of Bridgeton, N.J.; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
   Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Satruday at West Cemetery in Pittsfield. Family and friends are invited to attend the services.    Roger L. Mallicoat, 76 of Beardstown, died Thursday, August 09, 2012 at Heritage Health in Beardstown. He was born October 14, 1935 in Beardstown, the son of Robert L. and Anna Linnea Larson Mallicoat. He married Velma White in December of 1963 in Beardstown. Surviving is his children Roger Mallicoat II of Beardstown and Leah (husband Donald) Malone of Rushville; three stepchildren Steve Browning of Brookfield, MO, Emil Surratt of Beardstown, and Debbie Young of Beardstown; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers Donald (wife JoAnn) Mallicoat of East Peoria and Jerry (wife Rosemary) Mallicoat of Creve Coeur; and one sister Faye (husband Delmos) Winkleman of Arenzville. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Ronald (surviving wife Doris) Mallicoat of Arenzville. Roger attended Beardstown High School. He worked thirty-eight years on the barge line as a deckhand and first mate. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and chopping wood. Funeral services will be held at 11 AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Burial will be in the Beardstown City Cemetery. SPRINGFIELD - Geraldine "Gerrie" Marinelli, 90, of Springfield, died Friday, August 2, 2013, at St. John's Hospital. Geraldine was born on June 3, 1923, in Virginia, Ill., the daughter of Lee and Ruth Ellen Simmons Way. She married Joseph Marinelli, Sr., who preceded her in death. Geraldine worked for Paris Cleaners and Secretary of State, retiring in 1988. She was previously a member of Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and most recently St. Agnes Church. She was also a member of P.O.L.K. of A. and volunteered at the Senior Center. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Joey Marinelli, Jr.; three brothers, Lyle, Kenny, and Bud Way; and five sisters, Ruth "Babe" Way, Margaret Huff, Jean Hoagland, Ethel Lee Fry, and Dorothy Sudeth. She is survived by her two daughters, Wanda (Richard) Goyne and Karen (Craig) Oglesby; nine grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty Jo Merritt; sister-in-law, Imogene Way; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.    Joan Maltby, 72, of Beardstown, died Thursday evening, April 5, 2007, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
   She was born Jan. 20, 1935, in Ashland, the daughter of Charles and Mildred Montgomery Self. She married Henry Maltby on June 13, 1969, in Rushville, and he preceded her in death Dec. 8, 1994.
   She is survived by one son, James Whitis of Ripley; three daughters, Cleta Moore of Springfield, Paula (husband, Charles) Vaughn of Belleville and Carla (husband, Dale) Kruthoff of Beardstown; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles Self of Beardstown. She was preceded in death by one son, Charles.
   Mrs. Maltby graduated from Beardstown High School in 1952, and she was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Beardstown. She was formerly employed at the Cake Box Bakery in Beardstown. She enjoyed listening to music, reading books, baking and playing the organ. She played the organ for several funerals, weddings and church services in past years.
   Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet with friends one hour prior to services at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Condolences may be sent to [email protected].

   Thelma Eialeen "Dolly" Maltby, 77, of Beardstown died Friday Jan. 13, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born Sept. 27, 1934 in Saybrook, the daughter of Henry and Gladys Vinson Nunamaker. She married Otto Willis Matlby on April 18, 1998 at Black Oak Church in Beardstown.
   Surviving is her husband Otto Maltby of Beardstown; six children, Dean (wife Melissa) Carter of Arkansas, Larry (wife Chris) Carter of Jacksonville, Robin (husband Allen) Gill of Okawville, Michael Casey of Peoria Heights, Chuck Casey of Clinton, and Tanya Lawson (fiance' Lee Hargus) of Jacksonville, 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; five step-children Tim (wife Carolyn) Matlby of East Peoria, Tom (wife Becky) Maltby of Rushville, Mary Giffharn and Willa Hundley both of Kentucky, and Patty (husband Larry) Waldron of East Peoria, and eight brothers and six sisters Lois, Loren, Wanda, Melba, Lyla, Neal, Cathy and Gayle.
   She was preceded in death by her parents.
   Dolly attended Black Oak Church in Beardstown and was formerly employed as head cook at the Star Cafe' in Beardstown for over 20 years. She enjoyed working word search puzzles.

Mrs. George Manker of Arenzville Dies of Polio; Hospitalized Since Tuesday
   Mrs. Betty Jean Manker, wife of George Manker, Arenzville auto dealer who is well known as a softball pitcher through this area died at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon at Our Savior's Hospital in Jacksonville.
   Mrs. Manker, the mother of four small children, all under 8 years of age, was taken to the hospital Tuesday when her illness was diagnosed as polio or spinal meningitis. A postmortem examination found the cause of death as acute poliomyelitis.
   Besides her husband, George Manker, she is survived by four children, two daughters and two sons. Bonnie Jean, 8, Vicky Lynn, Robin Claire and the youngest Fredric Lee who is one year old.
   Mrs Manker was born December 20, 1924 in Arenzville, a daughter of Fred and Minnie Ring Schnitker.
    She was married to George Manker January 24, 1943 at St. Peter's Lutheran Church near Arenzville. She was 28 years of age at her death.
   Besides her husband and four children, she is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs Fred Schnitker of Arenzville, three sisters, Mrs. Edgar Lovekamp, Mrs. Homer Dahman, and Mrs Robert Brasel, and four brothers, Earl, Raymond, Charles Schnitker of Arenzville and Norman Schnitker of Prescott, Arizona.
   The remains were brought to Cline's Funeral Home where friends may call from 7 to 9 o'clock tonight.
   Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at St. Peter's Lutheran Church near Arenzville. The Rev. Saathoff of Burlington, Iowa, former pastor at St. Peter's will conduct the service.

   Lyn Marshall, 78, of Tucson, and formerly of Beardstown, died on Monday, October 22, 1929.
   Surviving is her loving husband of more than 57 years, Hal; brother, John D. (wife, Nita) Ellis, Florida; sister, Jane Carol (husband, Duane) Bowman, California; four daughters, Jane (husband, Ron) Miller, Twin Falls, Idaho, Anne (husband, Mark) Bork, Phoenix, Julie Marshall, Seattle, Washington, Clare (husband, Michael Flynn, Phoenix; seven grandchildren, Suzanne (husband, Dustin) Gardner, The Dalles, Oregon, Daniel (wife, Karissa) Miller, Pocatello, Idaho, Andrew Miller, Twin Falls, Idaho, Paul Bork, Phoenix, Kaitlin Flynn, Phoenix, Kendra Flynn, Phoenix.
   By choice, Lyn's life evolved around her family. Her children and grandkids reveled in the memories of fast and furious card games with much laughter at her animation over a great play. Lyn was also a firm believer in one of the strongest social organizations in the U.S. The Bridge Club. She leaves behind close friends from her bridge club of nearly 50 years.
   Services were held on Friday, October 26 at 2:30 p.m. at East Lawn Palms Chapel, 5801 E. Grant Rd. A reception followed at Hacienda deSol, 5601 N. Hacienda del Sol Road.

MARTIN, Pauline - August 14, 2008
Pauline Martin, 92, of Jacksonville, IL and formerly of Virginia, IL died Thursday, August 14, 2008 at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   She was born March 14, 1916 in Shipman, IL; the daughter of George W. and Ella Curless Gebhardt. She married Sylvan W. Martin on June 11, 1933 in Baylis, IL and he preceded in death.
   She is survived by three children, Beverly Linker (husband, Kenny) of Jacksonville, Don Martin (deceased wife, Mary Jean) of Winamac, IN, and Carolyn Lackscheide (husband, Delbert) of Franklin; 16 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; and a niece, Betty White, husband, Clifford) of Andover. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sharon Taylor (surviving husband, Neil of Stanberry, MO), a son, Gary Martin (surviving wife, Janet of Virginia), and a sister, Frances Vannatta.
   Mrs. Martin worked as a cook for the Virginia School District and later served as a caregiver for the elderly. She also was employed as an attendant for the Wash Bucket laundry. She was a member of Virginia United Methodist Church and enjoyed making quilts and spending time with her family and friends.
   Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. MARTIN, William "Hank" - May 29, 1937 - August 2, 2008
William "Hank" Martin, 71, of Virginia, IL died Saturday, August 2, 2008 at St. John's Hospice in Springfield, IL.
   He was born May 29, 1937 in Chandlerville,IL; the son of Robert William and Lela Mae Smith Martin. He married Sally Fields on April 7, 1961 in Havana, IL and she survives.
   He is also survived by three daughters, Mary Tangman (husband, Eugene) of Virginia, Kim Hefley (husband, Terry) of Beardstown, and Tina Leetham of Virginia; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers, Russell Martin (wife, Iola) of Beardstown and Eddie Martin (wife, Ruth) of Chandlerville; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, John (deceased wife, Ola Mae), Raymond, and James Martin (deceased wife, Judy).
   Mr. Martin served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict and returned to work for Virginia Meat Packing Company and later owned and operated a tree service. He joined the IBEW Local 51 in Springfield where he was an electrician and lineman until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Virginia.

Frank Hulett Mason - 1910-2003 - Beardstown
   Frank Hulett Mason, 93, of Beardstown, died Friday morning, Aug. 29, 2003, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
   He was born May 10, 1910, in East St. Louis, the son of Frank Enoch and Mary Elizabeth Hulett Mason. He married Ruth Virginia Garrett on Nov. 25, 1937, in Maplewood, Mo., and she preceded him in death Aug. 10, 1982.
   He is survived by one son, Richard of Beardstown; two daughters, Ellen (husband, David) Smith of Beardstown and Nancy Burns of Robertsville, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mary Ruth (deceased husband, Vernon) Stillman of Dunedin, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sons, James and Douglas; one daughter, Ruth Abney; one brother, John Mason; and two sisters, Georgia Bauer and June James.
   Mr. Mason was active in Boy Scouts while growing up and he was one merit badge away from being an Eagle Scout. As a young man of 16 years, he decided to see the United States via the railway. He was employed by Terminal Railroad & Inmont in St. Louis, where he worked in payroll and accounting. He retired in 1974 after 30 years of service. During his early years, he worked on the the river. The river and his paddlewheel boat were always his passion. He also worked on the river for the Prestite Co. He and his wife attended the Maplewood Christian Church of Maplewood, Mo. He loved to walk for great distances until the past few years.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Goodwin Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial in Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 9 a.m. until time of services Monday at the funeral home. Memorials have been suggested to Bread of Love. Waynette W. Mason, 1942-2007, Beardstown
   Waynette W. Mason, 65, of Beardstown, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 31, 2007, in Mount Sterling.
   She was born Aug. 31, 1942, the daughter of Willis Willard and Helen Louise Maltby Blake. She married Gary L. Mason on Jan. 3, 1977, and he survives.
   She is also survived by three children, Rhonda Payne of Rushville, alan (wife, Shelly) Fox of Bakersfield, Calif., and James (wife, Melissa) Bayles of Houston; two stepchildren, John (wife, Liz) Mason of Durham, N.C., and Julie Ann (husband, Damion) Johnson of Coco, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; three brothers, Willard "Boy" (wife, Violet) and Walter "Scootie" (wife, Donna) Blake, both of Beardstown, and William "Bill" (wife, Pam) Blake of Athens; one sister, Willa Blake (husband, Gerald Moore) of Bean Station, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, William Blake.
   Mrs. Mason attended Beardstown schools and she formerly faithfully attended Beardstown Assembly of God. She was a devoted waitress at Arrow Restaurant and Elks Club in Beardstown for a number of years. She was an excellent cook and housekeeper and fast and efficient in everything she accomplished. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends in her home and she was respected as a very caring person.
   Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will meet from 5-7 p.m. Condolences may be sent to [email protected]

Nyle E. Masten, 1948-2006, Arenzville
   Nyle E. Masten, 58, of rural Arenzville, died Monday evening, Dec. 4, 2006, at his residence.
   He was born May 22, 1948, in Jacksonville, the son of Merrill Lee and Ruth Ann Ginder Masten. He married Monica Wolan on June 21, 1969, in Chicago, and she survives.
   He is also survived by one son, Vance of Arenzville; one daughter, Audra (husband, Damien) Kalvar of Floyds Knobs, Ind.; one grandson, Conner Nyle Kalvar; two sisters, Marilyn (husband, Norman) Siegle of Jacksonville and Venita (husband, Bill) Kilby of rural Virginia; one niece; and one nephew. He was preceded in death by his parents; one granddaughter; and one nephew.
   Mr. Masten was a 1966 graduate of Virginia High School and received a bachelors degree in agriculture education from Illinois State University in 1970. He farmed in the rural Arenzville area for over 30 years.
   Cremation rites have been accorded. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday at Virginia United Methodist Church. The family will meet friends at the church following the services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cass-Schuyler Area Hospice. Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia is in charge of arrangements.
