   Anna M. Long, 57, of Beardstown, died Monday evening, Jan. 20, 2003, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   She was born Feb. 18, 1945, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Jessie H. and Armissie Virgie Mae Huffman Piper. She married Willard Dyer in 1964 and he preceded her in death. She then married Gary Wilson March 25, 1970, and he preceded her in death. She married Sanford Long in 1983 and he preceded her in death.
   She is survived by one son, David (wife, Peggy) Dyer of Beardstown; one daughter, Serena Wilson of Beardstown; her mother Virgie Braind of Bedford, N.H.; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother Gale Piper of Missouri; two sisters Dollie Schackleford of Monument, Kan., and June Creesey of Plymouth, Ind.; and numerous half brothers and half sisters. She was preceded in death by her father.
   Mrs. Long attended school in Peoria. She was a home maker who enjoyed taking care of her family. She was a happy person who liked people, liked to make crafts, and enjoyed attending yard sales.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with family meeting friends from 5-7 p.m.

   Doris Marcella Long, 92, of Virginia, IL died Sunday, August 5, 2012 at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL.
   She was born May 6, 1920 in Ray, IL; the daughter of Andrew J. and Lela M. Sipes Smith. She married Donald C. Long on March 1, 1947 in Bluff Springs, IL and he preceded her in death on October 9, 1999. She is survived by a son, Harry J. "Butch" Long (wife, Anna Ruth) of Virginia; three daughters, Donna M. Dobey (husband, James) of Pekin, Karen M. Parrish (companion, Roger Stock) of Virginia, and Betty A. Eilers (husband, Michael) of Chandlerville; nine grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Cline, Jackie Jr., and Duane Smith and by three sisters, Mildred Norman, Maxine Smith, and Verna Burke.
   Mrs. Long retired in 1998 from the Virginia School District following 32 years of employment. She was a member of the Cass County Home Extension and enjoyed going out for coffee with good friends.
   Funeral services will be held 10:00 am Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Helen Kathy Surratt Long - 1946-2002
   Helen Kathy Surratt Long, 56, of Virginia, died Tuesday morning, Dec. 17, 2002, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   She was born Oct. 19, 1946, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Melvin S. "Jack" and Helen Virginia Alexander Surratt.
   She is survived by one son, Frank J. Long II of Virginia; her mother of Ashland; four brothers, Donald Surratt of Ashland, Dick (wife, Millie) Surratt of Rushville, Danny Ray (wife, Rose) Surratt of Lovington, N.M, and Melvin (wife, Mary) Surratt of Jerseyville; one sister, Darlene (husband, Dick) Marshall of Mission, Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her father, and two brothers, Emil Surratt and Jackie Surratt.
Mrs. Long worked at the Human Resource Center in Virginia and also cleaned homes in Virginia. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Virginia.
   Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Chapin Cemetery near Chapin.    Mary Buxton was born May 26, 1838, and died at her late home near Concord Monday. Funeral services were held Wednesday at the Methodist church in Concord. Deceased was married November 20, 1858 to Charles H. Long and to them five children were born, four of whom survive who are Mrs. George Hoover of Burlington, KS, Mrs Henry Wegehold of Concord, Mrs. Henry Funk of Monroe neighborhood, and Oscar Long of near this city. She is also survived by three sisters, Mesdames Andrew Long of Brown county and James Brown and John Hamm of Concord; and by eight grandchildren. The husband preceded her in death two years ago.

Walter Long, 1935-2007, Beardstown
   Walter Long, 72, a lifelong resident to Beardstown, and friend to many, died Monday evening, Nov. 19, 2007, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
   He was born April 2, 1935, in Beardstown, the son of William P. and Alma F. Rice Long.
   He is survived by three brothers, Henry (wife, Nancy) of Canton, Elmer of Jacksonville and Stephen (wife, Kathy) of Beardstown; two sisters, Fannie Parks of San Leon, Texas, and Wilberta R. "Bertie" Taylor of Beardstown; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great nephews. He was preceded in death by one brother, George Edward.
   Mr. Long attended Beardstown schools. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Beardstown, and worked for over 20 years for Lauder Salvage and then for the Human Resource Center, both in Beardstown.
   Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. at First Christian Church in Beardstown, with graveside funeral services 10 a.m. Saturday at Beardstown City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at the church. The funeral cortege will leave at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown at 9:45 a.m. for the cemetery.    Timothy Ray Looker, 62, of Beardstown, died Friday, February 28, 2014 at his residence.
   He was born on December 28, 1951 in Beardstown, the son of Billy Van and Delores McGovern Looker.
   He is survived by his children, Mickey (Laci) Looker of Arenzville and Danah (Roy) Hurst of Beardstown; mother, Delores of Beardstown; five grandchildren, Natalie and Ella Looker and Harlee, Presley and Cash Hurst; two brothers, Steve (Mary) Looker and Tommy (Rebecca) Looker, all of Beardstown; and two sisters, Dottie Jane Chilton of Medford, OR and Becky (Kenny) Merriman of Beardstown.
   Mr. Looker served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was employed by Bohn Aluminum in Beardstown, and was currently working maintenance for the Beardstown School District where he has been employed for over twenty years. He was a member of Guthrie-Pierce VFW Post 1239. Tim enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown with private burial at a later date. Tommy “Red” Looker, 62, of Beardstown, passed away Monday, May 22, 2017 at his home.
   He was born July 6, 1954 in Beardstown, the son of Billy Van and Delores McGovern Looker.
   He is survived by his children, Dustin (Mattie) Looker, Tyler (Carolina) Looker and Sarah (Matt O’Hara) Sutherland, all of Beardstown and Scott Sutherland of St. Louis; four grandchildren, Austin Looker, Kaler Looker and Jackson Looker, all of Beardstown and Madison Sutherland of Bethalto; his mother, Delores of Beardstown; one brother, Steve (Mary) Looker of Beardstown; two sisters, Dottie Chilton of Medford, OR and Becky (Kenny) Merriman; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Tim Looker.
   Mr. Looker was a 1972 graduate of Beardstown High School. He worked at Continental Grain for over 20 years and was currently employed with the City of Beardstown for over 15 years. He was a member of Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007. Red loved to dance and ride his Harley-Davidson. He had a passion for sports, especially following his beloved Cincinnati Reds, Minnesota Vikings, North Carolina Tar Heels and his hometown Beardstown Tigers.
   A Celebration of Life will be held 5 PM Thursday, May 25, 2017 at the Beardstown Elks Lodge #1007 where a meal will be served following the service. Burial will be held at a later date. F. NADINE LOUNSBERRY December 19, 2009
F. Nadine Lounsberry, 98, of Jacksonville, died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, at Passavant Area Hospital.
   She was born Dec. 8, 1911, near Arenzville, the daughter of Alex and Myrtle Davis Huffman. She married Edwin C. Lounsberry on July 6, 1947, at the Presbyterian Church in Virginia, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 22, 2002.
   She is survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews, including Elizabeth Thomas of Virginia; and caretakers Nancy McGee and Pat Hartz, both of Winchester. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lena Ruth in infancy and Mary Meyer.
   Mrs. Lounsberry was a graduate of Virginia Community High School and received her B.S. in Primary Education from Western Illinois University. She was a teacher for 37 years, teaching at Springer Country School, which was a one-room schoolhouse, in Cass County-Dist. 47, Pekin Lincoln School, and Columbia (Hammond, IN) School, where she taught for 27 years, retiring in 1974. In 1956, after moving to Homewood, Nadine was one of twelve people who started a new Methodist church, holding the position of Choir Director from 1959-74. St. Andrew's UMC is still a thriving congregation. She and her husband moved to Jacksonville in 1976, where she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, the Jane Miller Circle and the Handwork Group. She sang in her church choirs for over 50 years. She also belonged to the Morgan/Cass Farm Bureau, Audubon Society, and the Morgan County Home Extension.
    Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Grace United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Carol 'Sudie' Lovell, 1943-2003, Beardstown
   Carol "Sudie" Lovel, 60, of Beardstown, died Friday May 30, 2003, at her residence.
   She was born April 11, 1943, in Bloomington, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary Bruner Walker. She married James L. Lovell June 20, 1965, in Bloomington, and he survives.
   She is also survived by her father, Gene Shifflett of Bloomington; two sons, Mark (wife, Mary) of Beardstown and Matthew (wife, Diana) of Franklin; two daughters, Mary (husband, Bill) Upp and Emily Lovell, both of Beardstown; eight grandchildren, Kimberly Creech, Christina, Mark Jr., Courtney and Gracie Lovell, Lewie Smith and Jacob and Noah Upp; one great-grandson; two brothers, Bud Otto of Miami and Mike (wife, Rena) Shifflett of Bloomington; and one sister, Terri (husband, Mike) Abfalder of Normal. She was preceded in death by her parents.
   Mrs. Lovell graduated from Bloomington High School in the class of 1961 and from Illinois State University in 1967 with a bachelor of science degree in special education. She taught in the Towanda, Bloomington, Havana, and Beardstown school districts. At the time of her death, Mrs. Lovell was employed as a teacher of special education at Gard School in Beardstown.While residing in Havana, she and her husband owned and operated Video Circus in Havana from 1989 until 1991. She was a faithful member of First Christian Church in Beardstown. She enjoyed swimming and camping, especially at Evening Star Camp Ground near Havana. She truly loved her family and her grandchildren and treasured the time spent with them.
   Funeral services will be held 7 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Beardstown, with graveside funeral services held 11 a.m. Tuesday at Beardstown City Cemetery. The family will meet friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday at the church. Beardstown School District 15 personnel will hold a candlelight vigil from 6:30-7 p.m. at the church Monday. LoveKamp Rites to Be Friday.
    Funeral services for Edgar (Dos) Lovekamp, 53, Arenzville township supervisor, who died suddenly of a heart attack early yesterday morning at his home in Arenzville, will be held at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon.
   Services will be at the Arenzville Presbyterian church and interment will be in the North Arenzville cemetery. The Rev. Dan Kerr of Carthage, Missouri, will officiate.
   The body was taken to the Williamson Funeral Home in Jacksonville where the family will meet friends from 7 to 9 o'clock this evening. The remains will be removed to the church one hour before the funeral.
   Mr. Lovekamp was born May 6, 1899 at Arenzville, the son of John and Emma Davis Lovekamp. He was married in Jacksonville to Miss Inez Schnitker on July 7, 1923.
   Surviving are his wife, one son Jerry at home, two brothers john and Harland of Arenzville and one sister, Mrs. Grace Schone of Bluffs.
   He was a leatherworker by trade and operated a business in Arenzville which had been founded by his father a number of years ago. He was an elder in the Arenzville Presbyterian church.
   Mr. Lovekamp was appointed supervisor of Arenzville township in 1945 to fill an unexpired term of Al Nicol. In 1947 he was elected to that office and was re-elected in 1951.

Glen Lovekamp, 1922-2007, Arenzville
   Robert "Glen" Lovekamp, 84, of Arenzville, died Tuesday evening April 17, 2007, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville. He was born June 14, 1922, in Arenzville, the son of Robert Henry and Minnie Marie Roegge Lovekamp. He married Doris Jane Schnitker on Dec. 24, 1944, at the Trinity Lutheran Church parsonage in Arenzville, and she survives.
   He is also survived by three sons, Terri (wife, Patty) of Cerro Gordo, James (wife, Karen) of Martinez, Ga., and Rick (wife, Robyn) of Arenzville; six grandchildren, Terry Lee and Trisha Lovekamp, Tara Lovekamp-Swan and Josh, Joe and Rhianna Lovekamp; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Dale (wife, Wyllia) of Beardstown; and two sisters, Blanche (husband, Don) Chipman of Beardstown and Alice Binder of Denver. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Letha Ryan, Janet (surviving husband, Jack of Beardstown) Foster and Frances Cooper; and one brother, Byron (surviving wife, Mary of Springfield).
   Mr. Lovekamp graduated from Arenzville High School in the class of 1940. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville and as a faithful member he served on various committees throughout the years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater aboard the repair ship USS Laertes. Before and after his service in the U.S. Navy, he drove a truck for Schnitker Truck Lines in Arenzville and Nichol Sand Company in Savanna, and since 1954, he farmed in rural Arenzville.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Arenzville, with burial at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Arenzville. The family will meet with friends from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church Elevator Fund. Jerry Lovekamp 1939 -2009 Beardstown
   Jerry Lovekamp, 69, of Beardstown, died Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
   He was born April 20, 1939, in Beardstown, the son of Edgar William and Inez Caroline Marie Schmitker Lovekamp. He married Sandra L. Phelps on June 18, 1961, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, and she survives.
   Also surviving is his son Greg (wife, Barb) Lovekamp of Springfield; and two grandsons Alan and Brad Lovekamp. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Helene in infancy.
   Jerry graduated from Arenzville High School in 1957 and then from Barber College in Decatur. He was previously employed at Powell's Barber Shop in Beardstown and then worked as a conductor for Burlington-Northern Railroad in Beardstown until his retirement in December 2001. He enjoyed fishing, collecting model trains and attending high school sporting events.
   Graveside funeral services will be held at 11:30 a. m. Friday at Arenzville North Cemetery in Arenzville. The family will meet with friends from 10-11 a. m. Friday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, Memorials have been suggested to Dog P. E. N. Rescue in Roodhouse.

Anna E. Lowe - May 11, 1934-June 5, 2014
   Anna E. Lowe, 80, of Virginia, IL died Thursday, June 5, 2014 at Passavant Area Hospital In Jacksonville, IL.
   She was born May 11, 1934 in Cass County, the daughter of Albert and Laura Eagle Walton. She married Wayne Lowe on October 30, 1954 in Virginia and he survives.
   She is also survived by two sons, Gary Lowe and Mike Lowe, both of Virginia; three grandchildren, Holly Lowe (husband, Andy) of Jacksonville, Kali Sherwood (husband, Brad) of Anger, NC, and Evin Lowe of Virginia; four great grandchildren, Jack Lowe and Brayden, Rylan, and Emily Sherwood; a brother, Albert Walton of Peoria; a sister, Betty Browning of Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Helen Roudebush, Ethel Anderson, Pauline Dahme, and Mabel Walton; and two brothers, Marion and Bradley Walton.
   Mrs. Lowe was a 1952 graduate of Virginia High School and had been employed in past years at Virginia Country Club, Capitol Records, and Barton W. Stone Home prior to her years as a homemaker. She was a member of Jacksonville Assembly of God Church and had devoted many hours to support of the church’s mission work.
   Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Monday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends at the funeral home from 2:00 pm Monday until the time of services. Memorial gifts are suggested to Jacksonville Assembly of God Church. Ardis 'Bernadine' Lowe, 1925-2008, Beardstown
   Ardis "Bernadine" Lowe, 82, of Beardstown, died Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 29, 2008, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
   She was born Sept. 20, 1925, in Beardstown, the daughter of John and Gwendolin Coil Lawson. She married Harvey James Lowe on Aug. 20, 1942, in Palmyra, Mo., and he preceded her in death June 20, 1982.
   She is survived by one son, Harvey Ray (wife, Alice) of Hinesville, Ga.; two grandchildren, Teresa (husband, Scott) Wilcox of Greenville, S.C. and Jason (wife, Regina) Lowe of Jacksonville; two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Evelyn Stinson of Savannah, Gladys Stinson of Arenzville, Vera Reeder of Beardstown, Ruby (husband, Jim) Weishaar of Browning and Rethyle (husband, Martin) Woods of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Robert Dale Lawson; and five sisters, Roberta (surviving husband, Lloyd of Savannah) Hull, Velda Baker, Catherine and Doris Jean Lawson and one in infancy.
   Mrs. Lowe was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Beardstown. As a homemaker, she enjoyed working puzzles, camping with her husband and traveling.
   Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. LOWE, Justyne Justyne Lowe, 91, of Taylorville formerly of Blue Mound, IL, passed away January16, 2013 at 4:55 p.m. at Taylorville Care Center in Taylorville. She was born August 10, 1921 in Virginia, IL. The Daughter of E.B. and Beulah Ivey Millner. She married Floyd Lowe on June 29, 1940 in Maissouri and he later preceded her in death on September 8, 2005. She was a retired Homemaker.
   She is survived by her Son: Richard (Rita) Lowe of Taylorville; Daughters: Jean (Bill) Cooper of Taylorville, IL; Beverly (Darryll) Beaman of Taylorville, IL; Diane (Brian) Smith of Mattoon, IL; Grandchildren: Nine (9); Great-Grandchildren: Thirteen (13); One Great-Great Grandson; Sister: Dorothy (Everett) Ledbetter of Springfield, IL; Many Nieces, Nephews and Cousins.
   Funeral services will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 am at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville with Rev. Philip Neumann officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Nokomis, IL.
