Frederick C. "Fritz" Krumwiede, 93, of Beardstown, and formerly of the Paxton-Buckley area, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2006, at Heritage Manor South in Beardstown.
He was born Oct. 18, 1913, in rural Buckley, the son of Henry C. and Minnie Sprehe Krumwiede. He married Marie A. Eshleman on Dec. 29, 1935, in Buckley, and she preceded him in death Aug. 28, 1994.
He is survived by one son, Erwin (wife, Shirley) of Beardstown; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
Mr. Krumwiede attended St. John's Lutheran School. He farmed in the Buckley-Paxton area more than 40 years and worked at the DelRey Farmers Grain Elevator 15 years. He moved to Paxton in 1953 where he lived for 24 years, then moved to DelRey for 18 years, back to Buckley in 1995 and to Beardstown in 2002 to be near his son and family. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Buckley, where he sang in the men's choir. He also served on the finance committee and was elder of the church. He loved the Lutheran Church and enjoyed all the activities, especially the sports programs of St. John's and Christ Lutheran Church at Buckley. He also was a great fan of the Buckley Dutchmasters and Chicago Cubs. Upon moving to Beardstown, he immediately became very involved with the Tiger Athletics as well as watching his grandson coach at Carrollton, and his great-grandsons play baseball and basketball. He enjoyed playing cards but his greatest love was his Lord, family and friends.
