Anita D. Hoagland - 1955-1998
Anita D. Hoagland, 43, of Jacksonville died Monday afternoon, Aug. 17, 1998, at her home.
She was born Aug. 16, 1955 in Beardstown, the daughter of Walter Dean and Kathryn Jockisch Cox. She married Fred Hoagland June 9, 1974, in Virginia, and he survives.
She is also survived by two daughters, Jennifer (husband, Dennis) Fernandes and Rachel, both of Jacksonville; her mother of Virginia; and two sisters, Jan (husband, Charles) Hagloch and Chris (husband, John) Dixon, both of Virginia; several nieces and nephews; and one great-niece. She was preceded in death by her father.
Mrs. Hoagland was a residential care worker for the Illinois School for the Deaf. She graduated from Virginia High School in 1973 and was a member of AFSCME Local 38 and the Shiloh-Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Virginia.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at the Williamson Funeral Home with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery at Virginia.
Memorials are suggested to the Morgan County Cancer Transportation Fund.

Ruel James Hobrock, 1925-2005, Arenzville
Ruel James Hobrock, 79, of rural Arenzville, died Friday morning, Feb. 11, 2005, at Jacksonville Convalescent in Jacksonville.
He was born Oct. 15, 1925, in Beardstown, the son of Howard and Hester Reining Hobrock. He married Dorothy Louise "Sis" Collins on Nov. 8, 1947, at the First Evangelical Church in Beardstown, and she survives.
He is also survived by one daughter, Geraldine Ann "Gerry" (husband, Gary) Blum of rural Beardstown; two grandsons, Bill (wife, Lora) Davis of Beardstown and Brian (wife, Kelly) Davis of Jacksonville; three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Robert (wife, Janet) and Larry "Butch" (wife, Ruth Ann), both of Beardstown; and two sisters, Marilyn (husband, Paul) Sinn of Marissa and Marje (husband, Jim) Hobrock-Thudium of Springfield. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brice Davis; and one sister, Marsha Rockwell.
Mr. Hobrock graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1943 and he was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, the Beardstown B.P.O. Elks 1007 and the Jacksonville Moose Lodge 865. He farmed in Cass County is entire life and was formerly employed with Allis-Chalmers in Springfield, Federal Crop Insurance and Meredosia Drainage and Levee District, where he served as commissioner for many years. He and his wife owned and operated Hobrock's Country Market on US 67 south of Beardstown for 30 years.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Beardstown, with burial at Arenzville North Cemetery. The family will meet with friends from 3-6 p.m. today at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Cheryl Lynn Hohimer, 52, of Virginia, passed away Friday, May 31, 2013, at her residence.
She was born Sept. 10, 1960, in Havana, the daughter of David Eugene and Phyllis Mibb Hohimer.
She is survived by her mother and stepfather, Phyllis and Mike Tarvin of Okeechobee, FL; her daughter, Mica (Claude) Finn of Springfield; four sisters, Susie (Jamie) Reichert of Virginia, Carylon McNeal and Marylon Walker, both of Springfield, and Beth (Jerry) Lake of Nilwood; two half-sisters, Becky Hohimer of Beardstown and Tammy Hohimer of Patterson Bay; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews, including her special aunt, Paulette Hinds of Rochester; caring friend, Jean Finn of Springfield; and longtime companion, Richard Robinson of Auburn. She was preceded in death by her father, David Eugene Hohimer; and half-brother, David Hohimer.
Ms. Hohimer had worked many jobs throughout her life, and was a "jack-of-all-trades". She was a member of Nilwood Baptist Church. She enjoyed fishing, gardening and riding motorcycles. Cheryl loved spending time with her family, especially her nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at Mount Olive Baptist Church, 28334 Oakford Road, Chandlerville, IL 62627. The family will meet friends 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Doretta J. Holder, 1916-2006, Beardstown
Doretta J. Holder, 90, of Beardstown, died Monday morning, Nov. 6, 2006, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield.
She was born June 29, 1916, in Beardstown, the daughter of William Jessie and Emma Jane Hardey Newbern. She married Earl Farrand Moore on July 24, 1933, in Pittsfield, and he preceded her in death in October 1974. She then married Hosie Holder in Versailles, and he preceded her in death in 1990.
She is survived by three sons, Roy (wife, Shirley) Moore and William (wife, Judy) Moore, both of Beardstown and Kenneth (wife, Karen) More of Louisiana, MO.; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and one brother, Verl Newbern of Rushville. She was preceded in death by two daughters, Pauline DeLoche and Mary Jane Delaney; one grandson Greg Moore; two sisters, Helen Stephens and Ruth Hahn; two brothers, John and Irvin in infancy.
Mrs. Holder attended the Lighthouse Church in Beardstown. She was formerly a seamstress at Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Beardstown for 35 years. As a homemaker, she enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Dorothy L. Hollenback, 97, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Rushville, IL, passed away at 8:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at the Hope Creek Nursing Center in East Moline, IL. She was born on Thursday, February 17, 1916 in Beardstown, IL. She was a daughter of the late William & Grace Thompson Hering. She married Russell Floyd Hollenback on May 14, 1939 in Beardstown, IL. He preceded her in death on February 19, 1990. Dorothy is survived by one son; Robert Hollenback & wife Jeanne of Milan, IL, one son-in-law; Richard Thomas of Beardstown, IL, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter; Betty Thomas, two brothers; William Robert Hering, Gilbert Hering, three sisters; Anna Rogge, Dotti Orr, Betty Laughrey. She was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Rushville. She was a correspondent for the Rushville Times for many years. Dorothy loved cooking, visiting with friends & neighbors and life on the farm. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, September 15, 2013 at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Darrell Holmes - 1926-2003 - Virginia
Darrell Holmes, 76 years, of Virginia, IL died Sunday morning, March 16, 2003, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
He was born Nov. 16, 1926, in Centralia, the son of Otto and Eileen Holmes. He married Anna Mae Toquinto, and she preceded in death in 2001.
He is survived by two step daughters, Annette (husband, Fred) Davis of Virginia and Charlotte Phillips of California City, Calif.; two step-sons, Doug Toquinto of Virginia and Robert Toquinto of Raleigh, N.C.; 9 step-grandchildren; 2 step-great grandchildren; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by one step-grandson.
Mr. Holmes served with the US Army during WW II and was employed many years as a diesel mechanic.
Cremation rites will be accorded. Graveside committal services will be held 9 a.m. Friday, March 21, 2003, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. There will be no visitation. M. Irene Holt, 89, of Jacksonville, and formerly of Virginia, died Monday, Nov. 12, 2007, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
She was born May 16, 1918, in Morgan County, the daughter of Warren and Velma Mallicoat Mincy. She married Willie Frank "Bill" Holt on July 15, 1952, in East St. Louis, and he preceded her in death Dec. 23, 1994.
She is survived by one niece and one nephew. She was preceded in death by one brother, Harold Franklin "Bud" Mincy; two sisters, Mary Francis Rowe and Hazel Marie Grafton; and one nephew.
A graduate of Arenzville High School, Mrs. Holt worked at the small arms plant in St. Louis during World War II and later was employed several years as a postal clerk at the Arenzville Post Office. She attended Liter Baptist Church in Literberry.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. Maxine Holtman, 1920-2008, Beardstown
Maxine Holtman, 87, of Beardstown, died Thursday morning, Jan. 31, 2008, at North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison, Ark.
She was born April 5, 1920, in Macomb, the daughter of Roy and Minnie Thornton Stremmel. She married Alfred Holtman in September 1938, and he preceded her in death in November 1978.
She is survived by two children, Kay Virginia of Springfield and Terry (wife, Regina) Holtman of Harrison, Ark.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Allyne Shawgo and Mildred Phelps.
Mrs. Holtman was raised in rural McDonough and Cass counties. She was residing in Arkansas with her son and daughter-in-law at the time of her death.

James "Jim" Hoon, October 5, 1932-January 21, 2014
James “Jim” Hoon, 81, of Beardstown, IL died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Heritage Health in Beardstown.
He was born October 5, 1932 in Lafayette, IN, the son of Burdette and Pauline Lyons Hoon. He married Eva Wiseman on Aug. 25, 1956 in Chandlerville, IL and she survives.
He is also survived by his children, Dennis (Denise) Hoon and Georgia (John) Arenz, all of Beardstown; three grandchildren, Kristen (Josh) Reich and Trevor (fiancée, Kylee Unland) Arenz, all of Beardstown and Briana Arenz of Naperville, IL; three great-grandsons, Trace and Kale Reich and Kellen Arenz; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Crowell and Sue Garner; and one brother, William Hoon.
Mr. Hoon was a graduate of Chandlerville High School and a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked maintenance for Continental Grain, Oscar Mayer and Cargill, all in Beardstown, before retiring in 1998. Jim was a member of First Christian Church in Beardstown and Elk’s Lodge #1007. He was an avid Cubs fan and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
A funeral service will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Beardstown with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. HOPKINS, Elizabeth BEGGS
Mrs. Elizabeth Hopkins, died at her late residence in this city Sunday, her funeral occurring Tuesday at 11 o'clock a.m. Services were conducted at the M.E. church by Rev. Greenburry Garner, who had known the deceased from infancy. The Reverend Garner, spoke very feelingly of the good qualities of Mrs. Hopkins and of the life she had lived, and of which he had such a full knowledge. The remains were followed to Walnut Ridge by a large number of friends and relatives, where the aged dead was laid to rest beside the remains of her husband, who died about five years ago. Elizabeth Beggs Hopkins, daughter of Charles and Dorothy Trumbo Beggs was born June 15, 1798, in Bourbon county, Kentucky. From Kentucky her parents removed, in 1799 to Clarke county, Indiana, settling at the Big Cave Spring, about six miies [miles] from the falls of the Ohio, now Louisville, Kentucky. In 1814 she was converted, joining the Methodist Episcopal Church, of which she remained a faithful member up to the time of her decease, extending over a period of 72 years. June 18, 1816, she was married to Henry Hopkins, a native of the state of Delaware. In 1825 Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins removed to Illinois, residing for one year in Jersey Prairie, Morgan County. Making a permanent settlement, in 1826, at Sugar Grove, Cass county, where they remained until 1875 - a period of 49 years - removing from there to this city, where she has since resided. Mrs. Hopkins was the mother of 12 children, 5 sons and 7 daughters, 10 of whom survive her - 5 sons and 5 daughters, as follows: Rebecca (Trauber) of Cherryvale, Kansas; Nancy S., (Berry) of Virginia; Sarah E., (Cunningham) of Cass county; Chas. B., of Kansas; Robert H., of Denton county, Texas; George M.of Denver, Colorado; Mary E., (Elder) of Normal; James M., of Wilson county, Kansas; Zack J., of Page county, Iowa; and Ruth A., of this city. Mr. and Mrs. Hopkins settled in Illinois at a very early day, when the country was but sparsely settled. Open-handed hospitality and Christian charity were their crowning virtues, and it could be said of them, they never failed to respond to the calls for help which were frequent among the newly settled people. And, as the old settlers will remember, the sick with them found shelter and tender care, and the needy were not turned from their cabin door, empty handed. John Alex Hopper, March 20, 1941-August 18, 2006
John Alex Hopper, 65, of Naples, died Friday, August 18, 2006, at the Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
He was born March 20, 1941, in Virginia, the son of Thomas R. and Talitha Elnorris Monroe Hopper. He married Patricia Tribble on June 23, 1963, in Literberry and she survives.
He is survived by three daughters, Christina (husband, Chris) Rice of Beardstown, Stephanie (husband, Brandon) Easley of Astoria, OR, and Elizabeth (husband, Jamie) Tipsword of Naples; six grandchildren, Ashley Rice of Jacksonville, Justin Rice and Tanner Rice of Beardstown, Brendyn Easley of Astoria, OR, and Emily Hopper and Shawn Tipsword of Naples; one brother, Tommy D. Hopper of Jacksonville; and two sisters Anna Mae Thomas of Jacksonville and Jackie (husband, William) Blaise of Alexander.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Raymond Monroe (surviving wife, Lola of Pearl River, LA); and one sister, Sue Carolyn Hopper.
Mr. Hopper worked for forty-four years at Herzberg New Method in Jacksonville, and worked part-time for twenty -five years at Ace Hardware. He enjoyed carpentry work, fishing, and loved being with his family, especially enjoying his grandchildren's sporting events.
Funeral services were held Tuesday at Cody & Son Memorial Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.

Lauren R. Hopper, 1982-2008, Ashland
Lauren R. Hopper, 26, Ashland, and formerly of Kampsville, died Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at her residence.
She was born April 15, 1982, in Jerseyville, the daughter of Ron and Cindy Staggs Hopper.
She is survived by her parents of Kampsville; one brother, Clint of Greenville, S.C.; grandparents, Richard and Mary Staggs of Granite City; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ms. Hopper was a 2000 graduate of Calhoun High School and a 2005 graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. She joined the Illinois Army National Guard in 2001 and has served full time since 2005, currently as a staff sergeant in the 65th Troop Command. She enjoyed basketball and travel in her spare time. She also loved her new home and her dogs, Ruby and Tyson.

Sarah J. Hopper, 70, of Jacksonville, IL died Tuesday evening, April 19, 2016, at Passavant Hospital Transitional Care Unit in Jacksonville following a lengthy struggle with cancer.
She was born March 9, 1946 in Beardstown, IL, the daughter of Charles and Doris Garner Logan. She married William C. “Bill” Hopper on June 16, 1968 in Virginia, IL and he survives.
She is also survived by two children, Kimberly Spangenberg (husband, Todd) of Jacksonville and John Hopper (companion, Lacy Cobb) of Virginia; four grandchildren, Abbie and Erin Spangenberg and Jordan and Brayden Hopper; a brother, Doug Logan (companion, Dianne Silva) of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Jan V. Logan.
Sarah was named valedictorian for both the Virginia High School Class of 1964 and the Illinois Business College in Springfield Class of 1966. She was employed by the State of Illinois Legislative Audit Commission from 1966-1971. While raising her children, she worked from 1978 to 1993 as the secretary for the superintendent of the Virginia School District. In 1993, Sarah and her husband purchased Hanna Trailer Sales in Jacksonville and have operated the successor company, Hopper RV Inc., for the past 22 years.
She was an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church in Jacksonville. Sarah enjoyed travel, camping, and supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Her greatest passion was reserved for sharing time and conversations with her grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 am, Monday, April 25, 2016, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Jacksonville with burial in Diamond Grove Cemetery in Jacksonville. Charles F. "Bud" Hoppin, 89, of rural Virginia, IL passed away Sunday, April 18, 2010 at his residence. He was born October 2, 1920 in Waverly, IL; the son of Charles T. and Lucille Wright Hoppin, both deceased.
Mr. Hoppin graduated from Virginia High School in 1938 and earned a Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Illinois in 1949. Prior to graduation, he served three years as a staff sergeant in the US Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a radio operator navigator with 15 months service in China, Burma and India making 116 trips over the Himalayas, known as the "Hump". In recognition of his military service, he was twice awarded the Air Corps highest award, the Air Medal, twice awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, and the Asiatic-Pacific Ribbons with two Bronze Stars. He was a life member of the Hump Pilots and received Chinese Air Force Wings.
Following his delayed graduation, Mr. Hoppin served as an instructor at the University of Buffalo/New York University in Buffalo, NY. He was associated with the Albright Art School in advertising design from 1947-1952. In 1952, he moved with his family to Virginia, IL where he farmed and was a USPS mail carrier for 35 years, retiring in October 1990 at the age of 70. He formerly served on the Virginia School Board in the 1960's.
He married Frances Julius in 1946 and she preceded him in death in January of 1986 following 39 years of marriage. He married Linda J. Hodges on May 1, 1997 and she survives. He is also survived by three children, Patrick W. Hoppin of Springfield, Susan M. Cox (husband, William) of Princeton, and Betsy A. Kiener (husband, Michael) of Bartlett; four grandchildren; a great grandchild; six step children; 12 step grandchildren; and a step great grandchild.

Mary Jane (Briar) Horrom was born September 12, 1826, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and died Monday after a prolonged illness of dropsy. She was interred in the family graveyard Tuesday. She came here at the age of ten years. Her husband Cyrus died seven years ago. she is survived by children, Mrs. James Reynolds of Beardstown, Mrs. James Fielding of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. Daniel McNeil of Chandlerville and sons, James and Preston.

Marge Houchin, 63, of Ashland, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 12, 2003, at St. John's Hospice in Springfield.
She was born Aug. 24, 1939, in Sommerville, Ind., the daughter of Gilbert J. and Amanda Jones Bottoms. She married Berman R. "Bud" Houchin July 27, 1956, in Kalamazoo, Mich., and he preceded her in death May 14, 2001.
She is survived by two sons, Bud and Mark (wife, Pam), both of Ashland; three daughters, Jennifer Miller of Port Latavia, La., Brenda (husband, Hank) Smith of Pleasant Plains, and Kathy Jo (husband, Michael) Beddingfield of Naples, Fla.; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Russell Bottoms of Virden and Fred (wife, Karen) Bottoms of Modesto; four sisters, Eva Hunt of Jerseyville, Barb (husband, Fran) Giberson of Girard, Martha (husband, Bob) Beamen of Nokomis, and Kathy Bottoms of Fort Myers, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Jack, Harley, Earl, and Bob Bottoms.
Mrs. Houchin was employed as a cook for A-C Central High School for the past eight years. She enjoyed playing Bingo and visiting the Alton Belle Casino.

E. Lee Houser, 1928-2007, Ashland
E. Lee Houser, 79, of Ashland, died Monday morning, Sept. 17, 2007, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
He was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Ashland, the son of Lloyd J. "Sandy" and Eleanora Housman Houser. He married Pat Danenberger on July 27, 1951, in Ashland, and she survives.
He is also survived by one son, Michael of Springfield; two daughters, Julie (deceased husband, Bill) Baker of Champaign and Johanna (husband, Bill) Betters of Ashland; six grandchildren, Justus Fortado, Jordan Fortado, and James (fiance), Karren Brownfield) Fortado, all of Champaign, Jessica (husband, Christopher) Reed of Fort Riley, Kan., and Phoebe and Molly Betters, both of Ashland; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Lloyd Joseph of Toronto, Canada; and two sisters, Barbara Ann (husband, Joseph) Running of Seattle and Mary Roe of McKinney, Texas.
Mr. Houser served with the U.S. Marine Corps in China during World War II. He was a maintenance supervisor for Central Illinois Public Service, retiring after 28 years of service. He was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church and a former member of the Ashland Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed gardening and woodworking, having a special talent in the creation of wooden airplanes.
Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday at Ashland Cemetery. The family will meet friends following the services in the fellowship hall of Ashland United Methodist Church. Houston, Edward Shannon - November 5, 1843 - April 4, 1918
Edward Shannon Houston was born in Belmont Co., Ohio, November 5, 1843. When about ten years old he moved with his parents to Mason Co., Illinois where he lived until the time of his death in Bath on April 4, 1918 at the age of 74y4m9d. He was married March 5, 1871 to Miss Melinda Jane VanEtten of Mason County. To this union twelve children were born. One son, Ross preceded him in death on May 10, 1880. He is survived by his wife; daughters Mrs. Ollie Schall of near Chandlerville, Mrs. Ella Clemons of Ashland, Mrs. Alice Vaughn of New Boston, Mrs. Belle Steele of Havana, Mrs. Etta J. Moore of Elgin, Mrs May Harper of East Moline. There are 28 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, four sisters, and one brother. At the age of 25 he united with the Christian Church in Bath. He was also a member of the Sons of Veterans Post at Bath. Funeral Services were held at the Christian Church in Bath on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m., conducted by Rev. J.N. Meeker. The burial was in Bath Cemetery. The bereaved wife and family have the sympathy of their many friends.

Melinda Jane Houston, the daughter of Jacob and Ruth VanEtten, was born at Bath, in Steuben Co., NY, June 21, 1851 and departed this life at the age of 89 years and three months.
When four years of age she, with her family, moved from New York to Illinois and the home was established in Bath. She made her home in Bath township all her life with the exception of the winter of 1929 when she lived with her son, John of South Pekin.
Melinda Jane VanEtten was united in marriage to the late Edward Shannon Houston on March 5, 1871. To this union 12 children were born and of these children, three sons and three daughters have preceded their mother in death.
She leaves to mourn her passing, three sons, Warren of Hammond, IN, Clarence of West Chandlerville, and Lee of Beardstown; three daughters, Mrs. Etta Taylor of Dixon, Mrs. May Waddell of East Moline and Mrs. Belle Steele of Havana; 32 grandchildren; 51 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren also survive. She will be missed by many who called her friend, as she lived in Bath and Bath township for 85 years.

Robert Houston, farmer, Sec. 30 P.O.Bath, was born in Wheeling, Ohio County, West Virginia August 2, 182? ( 20 or 22?), when about 12 of age his father's family moved to Jefferson Co., Ohio. The subject of this sketch removed to Illinois, in the spring of 1853, locating in Havana Township, this county, where he was employed on a farm till 1856, when he purchased a farm of 115 acres in Bath township, and now owns 360 acres in the same locality. Mr. Houston has served one term as Commissioner of Highways. He was married in 1842 to Miss Sarah Moore, who was born in Belmont Co., Ohio. They have had nine children by this union, seven of whom are living - Edward S. , Anne wife of H. Allen, Sabina wife of J. Keefer, Virginia wife of I. Pirish, Caroline wife of William Matthews, Julia wife of G.W. Taylor, and Mary West and William R. are deceased. In March 1862, Mr. Houston enlisted in the 1st I.V.I. and in November following was transferred to the Engineer's Dept. serving under General O.P. Morton in March, 863 and then resigned. In the fall of 1862, he received his commission as First Lieutenant, Mr. Houston first came West as early as 1836 and located in Iowa, but returned, after a residence there of about two years in Ohio.

Arenzville - William Houston was killed by a falling tree Sunday. Henry Bridgeman, William Dunn, and he came across a tree which looked like it had a coon in it. They proceeded to cut the tree down, while falling it caught a grape vine. they shook it and ran but Houston was caught beneath it. he was 26 years old.

Beth Howard, March 30, 1932-June 15, 2006
Beth Howard, 74, of Virginia, died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at Passavant Hospital Transitional Care Unit in Jacksonville.
She was born March 30, 1932, in Shelley, ID, the daughter of Charles Frederick and Coral Aretta Sant Boyce. She married Wendell Howard on March 29, 1952, in Tucson, AZ and he survives. Their marriage was solemnized at the Washington, DC Temple in 1980.
She is also survived by one son, Daniel (wife, Lyn) Howard of Jacksonville; four daughters, Debra (husband, Fred) Ore of Grand Island, NE, Karen Brown of Roodhouse, Linda Milich of Bonney Lake, WA, and Janet Mefford of Springfield; 26 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mary, Afton, Beverly, Rhea, and Marchell; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a granddaughter, Jennifer Milich.
Mrs. Howard was formerly employed as a nurse aide. In addition to being a devoted wife and homemaker, she loved and tended many area children in her home. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had served in the church in various positions.
Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints in Jacksonville with burial in Beardstown City Cemetery.
