Robert E. Flood, November 14, 1949-June 16, 2008
   Robert E. Flood, 58, of Beardstown died Monday evening, June 16, 2008, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   He was born November 14, 1949 in Evanston, the son of John H. and Patricia Joy Flood. He married Rose Ann Medford on June 9, 1973 in Clyde, North Carolina and she survives in Beardstown.
   Also surviving is his stepmother, June Flood of Springfield; his son John Flood of Lewistown; his daughter Jamie Flood of Charleston; his sister Collette (husband, George) James of Springfield; two stepsisters: Caren (husband, Bruce) Melton of Petersburg and Chris Heavisides of Springfield; one stepbrother, Tom (wife Lindy) Heavisides of New Berlin; and several nieces and nephews.
   He was preceded in death by his parents and one stepsister Carol LaFevre (surviving husband, Ron of California).
   Mr. Flood graduated from Beardstown High School in the class of 1967 and from Haywood Technical College in N.C. in 1971. He returned to Beardstown with is wife in 1974 and was employed at Cass Hardwoods until he began his career with Beardstown Police Department in 1977 as a patrolman. He served as Chief of Police from 1986 until 1990, retired from the force in 2000, and served as a dispatcher for Cass County 911 from 2001 until 2008. During his service to the citizens of Beardstown and Cass County, Mr. Flood was instrumental in initiating the D.A.R.E. program within the schools and he previously served as Beardstown Fall Festival Parade Chairman and as a volunteer fireman. He was a member of Cass Lodge #23 AF & AM and First United Methodist Church of Beardstown. He enjoyed photography and reporting for WRMS radio and Star-Gazette newspaper in Beardstown.
   Memorial services for Bob Flood will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 21, at First United Methodist Church in Beardstown. Sager Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

   Alice Frances Flowers, 83, of Jacksonville, died Monday, Oct. 5, 2015, at her home.
   She was born March 12, 1932, in Jacksonville, the daughter of Oliver Milton and Ollie Marie Ratliff Mathews. She married Olen Wayne Flowers on Oct. 10, 1954, at Centenary United Methodist Church in Jacksonville, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 1998.
   She is survived by one daughter, Nancy Ann (husband Jay W.) Dickman of Cypress, TX; one granddaughter, Jessica Nicole Dickman of Austin, TX; one sister, Doris Jean Brown of Virginia; a sister-in-law, Mary Etta Flowers of Jacksonville; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Ronald Wayne Flowers; brother, Donald Dean Mathews; sister, Nellie Marie Mathews; and half-brother, George Albert Beard.
   Mrs. Flowers was a 1951 graduate of Jacksonville High School. She was the morning switchboard operator at Our Saviour’s Hospital and later worked at Jacksonville Developmental Center for 16 years, retiring in 1996. Alice was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church.
   A funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Jacksonville, with burial at Diamond Grove Cemetery. Charles L. Flowers 1926-2002 BEARDSTOWN
   Charles L. Flowers, 75, of Beardstown, died Sunday, May 5, 2002, at his residence.
   He was born Oct. 10, 1926, in Beardstown, the son of Joseph L. and Gladys Finfrock Flowers. He married Elizabeth M. Korte Dec. 16, 1951, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs, and she preceded him in death Nov. 29, 1994.
   He is survived by two daughters, Rhonda (husband, David) Baumhardt of Lake Zurich, and Marcie (husband, Donnie) Herter of Beardstown; one son, Thomas (wife, Cathleen) of Beardstown; six grandchildren; one brother, Ted (wife, Carol) of Rushville; and one sister, Jane (husband, Bill) Hering. of Great Falls, Mont.
   Mr. Flowers graduated from Beardstown High School and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs. He retired as a chemist in quality control with King Feed in Pittsfield and Critic Mill in Beardstown. Mr. Flowers was a private pilot and he enjoyed photography.
   Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown, with burial at Beardstown City Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home with the family meeting friends and family from 5-7 p.m. Memorials have been suggested to St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs.

   Word has been received here by relatives of the death of Mrs. Florence Collins Foggy, a former resident of this city, who passed away Sunday at 11;30 p.m. in Mercer Hosiptal, Burlington, Iowa. She was born near Virginia, Feb. 29, 1888, the daughter of the late John O. and Jennie Collins. She moved to New London, Iowa in 1910, where she has since resided.
    Survivors include her husband, Roy Foggy; one son Harold of Atlanta, Ill; five daughgter, Miss Jennie Foggy and Mrs. Elizabeth Fetterman of New London, Ia.; Mrs. Gertrude Mahaffey, Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. Marie Cullin, Ft. Madison, IA., and Mrs. Frances Watson, Fairfield, Ia.; fourteen grandchildren; three brothers, Harry Collins, this city, William Collins, Jacksonville, and Fred Collins, Chicago; three sister, Mrs. Bertha Treadway, Beardstown, Mrs. John (Mable) Devlin and Mrs. Harold (Nancy) Noelsch of this city. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, and brother and one sister.
   Funeral services were held Wednesday at the New London Methodist church and burial was made there. (Burge Cemetery)

   Alison Sue Force, 63, of Chandlerville passed away at 9:15 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2014, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   She was born July 29, 1951, in Jacksonville to Addison "Jocko" and Ruth Ellen (Taylor) Marcy. She married Delbert Force on October 12, 1967, in Chandlerville.
   Mrs. Force is survived by her husband, Delbert, of Chandlerville; one son, Chuck (Holly) Force of Chandlerville; three grandchildren, Robert Ratliff, Tanner Force and Ellen Force; and two sisters, Trish (Don) Bell of Virginia and Andrea (Ronnie) Pherigo of Chandlerville. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son, Jon Force.
   Mrs. Force was a member of Mount Olive Church near Chandlerville. She completed her CNA training at Lincoln Land Community College in Jacksonville in 1999. She then worked as a CNA at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia and later at Sunny Acres Home in Petersburg.
   Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014, at Lintner-Hurley Funeral Home in Chandlerville with visitation one hour prior to services. Burial will follow at Mount Olive Cemetery. The Rev. George Garnot will officiate. Memorial contributions may be made to Mount Olive Baptist Church.

   Cora P. Force, 90, of Beardstown, IL and formerly of Chandlerville, IL died Friday, August 21, 2009 at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
   She was born February 5, 1919 in Mason County, IL; the daughter of Oliver P. and Margaret Mae Guntermann McDaniel. She married Melvin L. Force on January 29, 1938 in Palmyra, MO and he preceded in death in 1980.
   She is survived by two sons, Wayne Force (wife, Peggy) of Virginia and Jerry Force (wife, Jean) of Beardstown; six grandchildren, Rick Force (wife, Suzanne), Pamela Sargent (husband, Edward), Darrin Force, Robert Force (wife, Jodi), Michelle Hamann (husband, Joe), and Becky Wydell (husband, Chris); 11 great grandchildren; a great great granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by a son, Marvin Eugene Force in infancy; four brothers, Orlin Duwayne in infancy, Vernon, Jess and Roy McDaniel; and six sisters, Ollie Shoemaker, Ethel Neely, Eunice Hodgson, Edna Davis, Maudie Collins, and Pauline Griffie.
   Mrs. Force worked at Kordite in Jacksonville for 10 years and later at the Holiday Inn in Jacksonville for several years. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she loved caring for little children and often provided babysitting services for area families. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Mason County.
   Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 25, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church, north of Chandlerville, with burial in Bethel Cemetery.    Jonathan T. Force, 84, of Virginia, and formerly of Chandlerville, died Saturday evening, Feb. 23, 2008, at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown, from age related illness.
   He was born Nov. 16, 1923 in Chandlerville; the son of William "Bill" and Ruby Pearl Mason Force. He married Lorna Jean Dawson on April 22, 1950, in Pickett, Ark., and she preceded in death June 3, 2007.
   He is survived by two daughters, Gloria Gay Force of Jacksonville and Vickie Sue (husband, Dan) Anderson of Springfield, Mo.; one son, Mark Anthony (wife, Sheila) Force of Virginia; a son by a previous marriage, Tommie (wife, Norie) Alaimo of Pittsview, Ala.; seven grandchildren, Terry Jon (wife, Angie) Anderson of Springfield, Mo., James Cody (wife, Chrissy) Anderson of Springfield, Mo., Shawn Michael (wife, P.J.) Force of Jacksonville, Renee (husband, Charles) Hagloch of Washington, Anthony Knight Force of Virginia, Tommie Jr. (Wife, Jeannie) Alaimo of Long Island, N.Y., and Kayla (husband, Jimmie) Harris of Marseilles; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by one son, Terry Wayne; one grandson, Mark Daniel; three brothers, Russell, Virgil "Butch", and Robert; and one sister, Budella Force Babb.
   Mr. Force was devoted to his family and a friend to many in surrounding communities. His love of hunting is legendary as he is best known to many as the "man who bagged the first legal deer in Illinois during 1957."
   He was also an avid duck hunter and served as a duck hunting guide for Barkhausen Hunting Lodge in Mason County. He was a frequent guest of the Deer and Turkey Classic each year and was honored by its promoters for his contribution to future deer hunters. He was also a fisherman and amateur archaeologist. He has donated many artifacts to Dickson Mounds and helped locate several Indian burial mounds in Cass County. He was know for his excellent carpentry skills, having built several homes in the area. He served with the U.S. Army during WW II in the European Theater. A life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he was a member of VFW Post 1239 of Beardstown and a former commander of the Virginia VFW Post.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial in Chandlerville Cemetery.    Lorna Jean Dawson Force, 75, of Virginia, and formerly of Chandlerville, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at Heritage Manor East in Beardstown.
   She was born Feb. 6, 1932 in Virginia, the daughter of Iola Boyd Dawson Fanning and Loren Cody Dawson Sr. She married Jonathan T. Force on April 22, 1950 in Pickett, Ark., and he survives.
   She is also survived by two daughters, Gloria Gay Force of Jacksonville and Vickie Sue Force (husband, Dan) Anderson of Willard, Mo.; one son, Mark Anthony (wife, Sheila) of Virginia; five grandchildren, Terry Jon (wife, Angie) and James Cody (wife, Chrissy) Anderson of Springfield, Mo., Shawn Michael (wife, P.J.) Force of Jacksonville, Renee (husband, Charles) Hagloch of Washington, Ill., and Anthony Knight Force of Virginia; 10 great grandchildren; one brother, Loren Junior (wife, Evelyn) Dawson of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death one son, Terry Wayne; one grandson, Mark Daniel Force; and one sister in infancy.
    Mrs. Force was a 1950 graduate of Virginia High School and was formerly employed at Capitol Records in Jacksonville. Her many accomplishments in life included her volunteer work with I-SEARCH where she was lovingly remembered as the "Grandmother of I-SEARCH;. She also served on the board of directors for the Women's Crisis Center and the Youth Attention Center in Jacksonville and the TOGETHER WE CAN organization in Virginia. She was loved by many area children as "Nanny," their faithful caregiver. Her home was an open door to many and a tasty home cooked meal was always on the table. She was a former member of the Faith Baptist Church in Virginia and the Beardstown VFW Post #2127 Ladies Auxiliary.
   Funeral services will be held 11a.m Tuesday at the Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia with burial at Chandlerville Cemetery. Visitation will one hour prior to services Tuesday at the funeral home. A luncheon for family and friends will be held following graveside services at the Chandlerville American Legion building. June L. Forman, 93, of Ashland, IL died Saturday, February 11, 2017, at the Walker Nursing Home in Virginia, IL.
   She was born April 13, 1923 in Morgan County, IL, the daughter of Rudy and Pearl Decker Strubbe. She married Paul Anderson and they later divorced. She married Charles A. Forman on July 15, 1983 in Ashland and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1997.
   She is survived by a daughter, Connie Burton of Ashland; six grandchildren, Donnie Burton (wife, Heather) of Auburn, Dallas Burton and Candy Smith, both of Ashland, Kyle Anderson of Virginia, Kim Anderson of Cape Coral, FL, and Doug Anderson (wife, Ashley) of Ft. Myers, FL; seven great grandchildren, Paige and Megan Burton, Evan and Ashley Smith, Jaxson and Jacob Anderson, and Trenton Anderson; a great great grandchild, Owen Smith; and several nieces and nephews.
   She was preceded in death by a son, Reggie Anderson and his wife, Denise; three brothers, Paul, Cecil and Dean Strubbe; and a sister, Estalee Anderson.
   June was a homemaker and loved working at the Sale Barn in Ashland, where she was in charge of the lunch room and chuckwagon. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and spending time with her family.
   Graveside funeral services will be 11:30 am, Wednesday, February 15, 2017, at Ashland Cemetery in Ashland.    She was born Jan. 10, 1918, near Beardstown in the Indian Creek area, the daughter of Henry Edward and Charlotte "Lottie" Crews Reining. She married Rev. Harry R. Fosha, Sr. on Dec. 16, 1955, and he preceded her in death in April, 1977.
   She is survived by one brother, Irvin H. Reining of Jacksonville; and nieces and nephews Albert Fosha, Jr. of Bellevue, WA, Sue Ann (Wayne) Spicer of Gillespie, Deena (Michael) Shepard of Jacksonville, Janie (John) DeVore of Utica, Diane (Gale) Randall of Peoria, Russell Hall of Beardstown and Paul Lowe of Loraine. She was preceded in death by one sister, Dorothy "Cupie" Lowe, and one brother, Clifford Reining.
   A memorial service will be held at a later date at Cornerstone Gospel Assembly in Meredosia. Burial will be in White Family Cemetery near Jerseyville.    He was preceded in death by one brother, John William "Willy" Fox.

   Edna Mae Russell Fox, 90, of Virginia, died Sunday afternoon, Oct. 5, 2003, at Walker Nursing Home in Virginia.
   She was born April 6, 1913, in Cass County, the daughter of Charles Wesley and Florence Newman Russell. She married James Russell Fox and he preceded her in death June 7, 1978.
   She is survived by one daughter, Ruth Ann Lucas of Springfield; six grandchildren, Richard A. (wife, Carolyn) Fox of Springfield, Pamela Fox of Springfield, Juanita (husband, Mark) Jones of Loami, Sean (wife, Rebecca) Bertoux of Rushville, Marshan (husband, Patrick) DeCook of Davenport, Iowa, and Charles (wife, Amanda) Lucas of Champaign; four great-grandchildren; and one nephew. She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Fox in 1967; and two sisters, Mary Watkins and Dorothy Nicholson.
   Mrs. Fox was a graduate of Virginia High School, a homemaker, and a member of First Presbyterian Church in Virginia.

   Elisha Fox, one of Jacksonville's oldest residents, died at 9:40 o'clock Tuesday night at his residence on Routt Street. He was 88 years of age last February and his death was the result more of old age than from any other cause. The deceased was well known throughout the city and the county and was greatly respected. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. J.W. Sperry, of this city, and four sons, namely: T U and Ulalia Fox, of Sinclair, Flavius of Virginia and Samuel living east of this city. Arrangements for the funeral have not been completed.

   Jessie Mae Fox, 84, of Virginia, died Saturday morning, Feb. 7, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
   She was born Dec. 8, 1919, in Virginia, the daughter of Charles Kellogg and Jessie Mae Kikendall McDaniel. She married Robert W. Fox Nov. 9, 1941, in Oakwood, Mo., and he survives.
   She is also survived by one daughter, Donna Rae of Virginia; four sons, Robert J. "Jerry" (wife, Peggy) of Tuscola, Dale (wife, Marilyn) and Gale (wife, Martha), both of Virginia, and Roger (companion, Tammy Williams) of Literberry; six grandchildren, Michael Fox, Amanda Lear, Sara McGlasson, Sherry Cluney, Brian Fox and Holly Fox; six great-grandsons; several stepgreat-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Glenn Ray, Cecil Ray, Vernon Ray, Charles Raymond McDaniel and one brother infancy; and three sisters, Marguerite Roach, Erma Dreher and one sister in infancy.
   Mrs. Fox was a 1938 graduate of Virginia High School and a homemaker.

   Max C. Fox, 74, of Virginia, died Saturday morning, Jan. 11, 2003, at Heritage Manor South Nursing Home in Beardstown.
He was born July 11, 1928, in Cass County, the son of James E. and Atha Cline Fox.
   He is survived by two brothers, James (wife, Kay) of Virginia and Robert (wife, Jessie Mae) of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
   Mr. Fox was awarded a Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Illinois and served with the US Army during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as an assistant farm advisor and later joined the DeKalb Bank & Trust in DeKalb. He later served as an officer for Soy Capitol Bank in Decatur for many years prior to his retirement in 1983, when he moved back to Virginia.

   Mrs. Paralee Fox, a long time resident of this city, died Friday at the residence of Mrs. Martha Gore, where she had made her home for some time. Deceased was born in this city, a daughter of Mar. and Mrs. Jerry Cox, and had spent her entire life here. She was the widow of Martin Fox, who died some years ago, together with their two sons Albert and John Fox. She is survived by one brother, George Clay Cox of Rochester, NY.
   Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the M.E. church, Rev. A.A. Luce officiating. Interment was made in Walnut Ridge Cemetery.

   He was born Feb. 6, 1921, in Cass County, the son of James E. and Atha Cline Fox. He married Jessie Mae McDaniel on Nov. 9, 1941, in Oakwood, Mo., and she preceded him in death Feb. 7, 2004.
   He is survived by one daughter, Donna Rae Fox of Virginia; four sons, Robert J. "Jerry" (wife, Peggy) of Tuscola, Dale (wife, Marilyn) and Gale (wife, Martha), both of Virginia, and Roger (companion, Tammy Williams) of rural Ashland; six grandchildren, Michael (wife, Keri) Fox of Literberry, Amanda Lear of Virginia, Sara (husband, Corey) McGlasson of Virginia, Sherry (husband, Doug) Cluney of Chatham, Brian (wife, Erynn) Fox of Athens, and Holly Fox of Virginia; six great-grandsons; several step-great-grandchildren; one brother, James R. (wife, Kay) of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by one brother, Max C.; and a grandson-in-law, Chris Lear.
   Mr. Fox was a 1938 graduate of Virginia High School and was engaged in farming for many years. He also was employed 20 years as a feed mill operator for Cass County Service Co. He was a member of Teamsters Union Local 916 of Springfield. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading and gardening.
   Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday at Massie-Buchanan Funeral Home in Virginia, with burial at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia.    Robert J. “Jerry” Fox, 68, of Tuscola and formerly of Virginia died Saturday, August 16, 2014 at Douglas Rehab and Care Center in Mattoon.
   He was born August 20, 1945 in Jacksonville, the son of Robert W. and Jessie Mae McDaniel Fox. He married Peggy L. Harrington on July 20, 1995 in Tuscola and she survives.
   He is also survived by three step daughters, Tamara Page (husband, Fred) of Villa Grove, Sylvia Hampton of Maricopa, AZ, and Jaquline Goer of Rantoul; 8 step grandchildren; 11 step great grandchildren; a sister, Donna Fox of Virginia; three brothers, Dale Fox (wife, Marilyn) of Virginia, Gale Fox (wife, Martha) of Chatham, and Roger Fox (companion, Tammy Williams) of rural Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
   Jerry was a 1963 graduate of Virginia High School and later graduated from Illinois State University. He was retired following many years of employment at Schrock Cabinet Company in Arthur. I n his younger years, Jerry enjoyed driving race cars and maintained his passion as a racing fan throughout his life.
   Graveside funeral services will be held 2:45 pm Wednesday, August 20, 2014, at Walnut Ridge Cemetery in Virginia. The family will meet friends from 1:30 to 2:30 pm Wednesday at the Buchanan & Cody Funeral Home in Virginia. Thomas Fox, of Sinclair, an old resident of Morgan county, died last night. He was a brother of Elisha Fox, of this city. The funeral will take place from the Hebron church at 10 o'clock a.m. Thursday.

   Vivian Genevieve Fox, 93, passed away at 11:10 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, 2011, at Pekin Manor. She was formerly of 230 Court St., Apt. 1202, and of Beardstown.
    Born Aug. 30, 1917, in Fish Hook to Charles and Margaret (Allen) Hall, she married Harlan Richard "Buss" Fox on Dec. 5, 1932, in Beardstown. She was preceded in death by her husband on June 25, 1998; one son, Robert Fox; one grandson, Kevin Perry; three sisters; and two brothers.
   Surviving are three sons, James (Dora) Fox of Beards-town, Harold "Herdy" (Elaine) Fox of Peoria and Larry (Marilyn) Fox of Kerrville, Texas; three daughters, Kay (Galen) Perry of Pekin, Mary (Fred Mayes) Kessler of Peoria and Susan (Roger) Green of Pekin; 22 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 40 great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Elsie Gardner of Jacksonville and Geraldine Eaton and Linda (Melvin) Anderson, both of Beardstown.
   Vivian enjoyed playing cards, traveling and spending time with her family. She was an avid Chicago Cubs baseball fan.
   A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Beardstown City Cemetery. Pastor Fred Fritz will officiate. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory, 500 N. Fourth St., Pekin.
   Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

   Wilma Jean Fox, 53, of Thayer, Illinois, died at 5:25 p.m., Sunday, May 17, at her residence.
On October 24, 1964, she married Martin W. Fox in Springfield, who survives.
   She was employed as a secretary at the Magna Bank in Springfield for over 15 years and was a graduate of Chandlerville High School with the Class of 1962.
   Preceding in her death was a sister, Lois Pherigo, in 1996.
   Surviving are her husband, Martin W. Fox of Thayer; two sons, Shawn E. of Thayer and Michael W. of Springfield; her parents, William E. and Hazel Hish of Chandlerville; a sister, Rose Brockhouse of Kirkwood, Illinois; and several nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.
   Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, at the Berry Funeral Home in Virden with the Rev. Jerry Divjak officiating. Burial was in Virden Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to Y-Me (National Breast Cancer Organization).
