I was looking thru Bureau County queries and found mrflower's that I have information about. My great uncle was John Helmer, I have all the information this person wants and I also have pictures.

I was in Princeton in August and visited the Historical Society. The lady there copied some of the pictures I have. One was of a Civil War Reunion in 1897, John Helmer is in this picture along with two other great uncles Peter and Swan Pierson. She also copied a newspaper article I have about John Helmer winning a lot for naming a new town out near Searls Ridge. The town never materalized,I guess because of the Cherry Mine disaster, Johns name for this town was Pushango.

I was amazed there was no information about either of these famlies at the Historical Society, both of these famlies were prominent famlies of Bureau County. Peter and Swan both owned businesses in Princeton, both were Civil War Veterans. Peter was wounded at Mission Ridge, both are buried in Oakland Cemetery. John Helmers son John "Pod" was mayor of DePue, president of the Amerian Legion and also VFW. Searl Ridge Cemetery should be renamed Helmer Cemetery, there are more Helmers and their allied famlies than any other person buried there.

I am searching for information or dcendants of COLBY family from Henniker, NH. that settled in Tiskilwa, IL., Bureau County in 1840's. LEVI COLBY, wife LYDIA, and JOEL COLBY. There also was F. and J. John Tallman Sat, 26 Sep 1998
I'm seeking to obtain verification/documentation of the birth of my great grandfather WILLIAM TALLMAN in Bureau County on 9 July 1850 to James Bucklin and Sophia Frances Field Tallman.

 My great great grandparents, James Bucklin and Sophia Frances Field Tallman came to Bureau County from Providence RI shortly after their marriage in 1849. They were natives of Providence and apparently came to Bureau County to do some sheep farming. My great grandfather was born there in 1850, as was the next child in 1853. By 1860 the family had returned to Providence since the 3d child was born there at that time. Consequently there would be no records other than certificates/acknowledgments of birth which again leads to the question as to whether there are any vital records prior to 1878.

I have a 1870 journal of my great grandfather when he returned to Bureau County for a couple of months and seems to have stayed with the Alex Holbrook family in Tiskilwa. In this journal he mentions seeing "the old farm house" which indicates they probably lived in the vicinity of Tiskilwa.

Steve Hall Tue, 17 Nov 1998
Seeking information about John and Elizabeth HALL. My information says they moved from Bureau County to Sonoma, Atchison County, Missouri in 1851. It does not state where, in Bureau County, they came from. Nor all the names of their children. The information I got was concerning their son, Sylvester. It only says that he was the eighth of thirteen children. It doesn't give the names of those thirteen children. The 1860 Federal census for Atchison County shows only Sylvester and three possibly four siblings. So I'm missing about eight children. What I'm hoping for is, that my HALL family links to this one. Any information regarding John and Elizabeth would be greatly appreciated.

 HALL - Searching for any information regarding Stephen W. HALL b. abt 1839 d.unk. His last known location was Atchison Co., Missouri. I believe he might be from Bureau County, since a lot of the HALL'S in that part of Missouri were from Bureau County. He married Mary F. LINDSLEY in 1859. They had one son, William Harvey HALL b abt 1859. Mary died in 1861. I would like any information concerning Stephen after the death of his wife, and information regarding his parents and any siblings.

Seeking info on Ggrandparents..George William CLIFTON and w. May MCDONALD. They lived in Spring Valley on Iowa Street according to 1900 Illinois Census.
At that time the had 3 children: Lester b.1894 in Toluca, Mabel b.20-Oct-1897 Spring Valley and d. 23-Aug-1898 in Spring Valley, Pearle b 6-Sept-1899 in Spring Valley. They must have moved shortly after Pearle was born because the next dau. Bertha was born in Penn. in 1902, and then returned to Illinois before my grandmother Mayme was born in Pawnee on 27-Sept-1904. My Ggrandfather George was a miner and I have 3 different places of his birth, one being Illinois in 1866. Ggrandmother May was to have been born in Missouri in 1876. I have hit a brick wall and anything anyone can share will be more than I have now! Thank you,

Early Resident of Sheffield Township, Bureau County My ancestor, John Beekman Klock (born Sept 8, 1787, Mohawk Valley, New York, died Oct 12, 1860, Sheffield, IL) homesteaded in Sheffield. I am uncertain of the date when his family emigrated from New York, but the dates of birth of his child Aaron Klock (born Nov 1, 1815 in Sheffield, died March 1864, in Sheffield) would indicate that he came before 1815. I would guess that he arrived in Illinois about 1813.
John Beekman Klock was married to a distant cousin, Margaret Klock Klock. They had 15 children, two (male) of whom died shortly after birth. The span of children birth dates are from 1810 to 1834 so I suspect that about 10 or 11 of these children were born in Sheffield.

James J BAMRICK - I have extracted some information that there was a James J Bamrick born in 1866 and the only other information available was Mt Olivet Cemetery, Spring Valley, Bureau, Illinois. I am assuming this child died shortly after birth and is buried at this cemetery. I am having a time finding this cemetery in Bureau County though. I did see one was listed in Wilmington, Will, Illinois. Are there two locations for this cemetery? Also if it is in Bureau can I get any more information than this? Do the cemetery records show anything? Were there death certificates issued on stillbirths in 1866? Any help would be most appreciated.

- Calvin JEWETT, Jr., 13, Vermont;

Mary A. JEWETT may be the 3rd wife of Calvin JEWETT, who married a Lydia Emerson of Hyde Park, Vermont, on May 30, 1854, in Hyde Park, Lamoille County, Vermont (Records of City Clerk, Hyde Park, Lamoille County, Vermont).

Also searching for a son of Calvin JEWETT named Charles Henry JEWETT who is not listed with the family in the 1860 Census. Charles Henry's mother was Phoebe WHEELOCK (Marriage License, Stevensville, Ravalli County, Montana). Charles Henry was born ca. 1845 in Hyde Park, Lamoille County, VT.

Is there any connection between the town of La Moille in Bureau County to Lamoille County, Vermont?
