Beardstown; was born in Lancashire, England, in 1827; only child of Thomas and Mary Thompson, natives of England; he, a carpenter by trade, deceased; she, died in this county in 1842. Mr. Thompson received his education in England, where he afterward worked in a cotton factory. In 1842 he came to this country, where he has since followed farming. He is one of the most prominent farmers of this county, where he owns 612 acres of land; the somewhat famous "Clear Lake," of this county, is mostly owned by him. He is a member of the M.E. Church; was School Trustee in 1863-4; he is a Democrat. Thompson = England
