AUGUST E. KAMMERER, jeweler, Beardstown; was born in Wheeling, Va. 
(now West Virginia), Aug. 3, 1847, where he received his 
education.  At the age of seventeen he apprenticed to the 
watchmaker's and jeweler's trade, at which he served four years in 
his native city, and in 1865, started in business in Little Rock, 
Ark., where he remained till 1869.  He then moved to St. Louis, 
Mo., where he remained till 1877, when he came to Beardstown, and 
in 1880 opened his present jewelry store on Main Street.
