Virginia, was born in Monroe Precinct, this county, May 11, 1834, son of James and Elizabeth (Foster) Davis; he, born in Kentucky in 1796; a farmer by occupation, and died in 1857; she, born in Tennessee in 1800 and still living. They had fourteen children, nine of whom are yet living. Our subject was educated in the schools of his native county, learned the trade of a carpenter, but has been engaged in farming all his life. Sept. 22, 1851, he married Miss Frances V. Tureman, daughter of Mr. George Tureman, of this county, and four children have been born to Mr. Davis: Alma E.; Willis T., who is in Washington Territory; Minnie M., and Horace A. Mr. Davis has filled the positions of School Director and Road Supervisor; is a Greenbacker, a Mason, and an A.O.U.W. Davis Foster Tureman = KY TN
