HOMEDALE MAN
ENDS OWN LIFE
__________ |
W.
G. Vogt Uses Shotgun to
Bring Death; Despondency
Held Cause
__________ |
W. G. Vogt, 61-year-old Homedale
man, committed suicide Saturday afternoon at about 4 o'clock
by shooting himself in the neck and head with a shotgun.
Despondency over ill health is believed to have been the cause
for such action
Vogt had been ill and confined to his bed for some time, according
to reports. Mrs. Vogt went to his bedroom Saturday
afternoon and upon finding hem gone immediately began looking
for him. She reached the front door of their home just
in time to see her husband end his life. Other members
of the family were in the kitchen at the time they heard the
shot fired.
It is believed that the man left his bed, picked up a gun and left
the house. He stood upon the front lawn, placed the
muzzle of the gun barrel just below his jaw bone near the
right ear and pulled the trigger.
The justice of the peace from Homedale was called to the scene.
No inquest was held. The body was brought to the Peckham
funeral parlors in Caldwell.
Besides his widow, Martha Vogt, the deceased is survived by three
daughters, Mrs. Sam McCartney of Stewart, Neb., Mrs. M. F.
Clark of Umatilla, Ore., and Miss Lola Vogt of Homedale and a
son Glen Vogt of Homedale.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at the
community church at Homedale with the Rev. K. R. Chubb
officiating. Burial will be in the Wilder cemetery. |
