Memorial graveside services for Robert D. Armstrong, 52, of Caldwell, who died Wednesday, November 30, 1994, at his home following a brief courageous struggle with cancer will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday, December 5, 1994, at the Middle Cemetery, Middleton, Idaho. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Private Interment was under the direction of Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.
Robert Diemer Armstrong was born January 7, 1942 at Ogle County, near Oregon, Illinois. He was born the second of identical twins to Richard D. and Helen Mary Louise Diemer Armstrong. Bob was raised and educated in Illinois and at the age of 17 moved to California where he worked until he was drafted by our great nation and asked to serve in Vietnam. He served one tour of duty and honorably discharged from Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, Colorado with a Bronze Star. Bob met and married Alice Mary Smith in Denver and they had a son, Shayne Diemer Armstrong. Bob spent most of his life after this working for the United States Postal Service and starting small businesses.
bob's lifelong love and hobby was cars; special interest in antique pickups, hot rods of all kinds and his latest interest was the woody wagon of California surfer fame. Helping others and seeking new challenges was his life's work.
He is survived by his wife Alice; his son Shayne and wife Jolene and tow (sic) grandchildren Heather and Bo; his twin brother and two sisters. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A special thanks to all who remained close to Bob and his family during his illness, especially Dave and Debbie Duncan and Stephanie Dowling and many thanks to the West Valley Medical Center Hospice.
Bob requested that in lieu of flowers or a memorial that each person that remembers him say a kind word to a love one, remember a veteran with a kind deed and live your life to the fullest.
Life is brief and very fragile. Do that which makes you happy. A reception will be held at the Armstrong family home, 15800 Richway Drive, Caldwell, after the services. |
