Mrs. Lucy O. Lyon, 61,
of 1301 Dearborn St., Caldwell, died Saturday at a local
hospital.
She was born May 18, 1897, in Caldwell and was reared
in Caldwell and attended grade school and the College of
Idaho, and attended Northwestern University at Evanston, Ill.
She was married to Allen C. Lyon on April 23, 1921, in
Caldwell.
Mrs. Lyon was employed by the Oakes Brothers department
store and worked at the county treasurers office and for a
short period of time worked in the office of the county
superintendent.
In 1926 the couple moved to Hawaii, returning to
Seattle, Wash., in 1937 where they resided for a year before
returning to Caldwell where they resided for a year before
returning to Caldwell where they had since resided.
She was an employee of the Edgar L. Oakes Seed Co.,
until her recent illness.
She was a member of the Chapter F. PEO, holding various
offices, a member of the UT Club, the oldest social club in
Caldwell, an active member of the First Methodist Church of
Caldwell and served as superintendent of the primary
department and was a member of the Thursday Musicale.
Survivors in addition to her husband, are a son, Ralph
W. Lyon, Caldwell; a daughter, Mrs. Leila L. Zimmerman,
Kennewick, Wash.; two brothers, Edgar L. Oakes, Caldwell
and Ralph W. Oakes of Los Angeles, Calif.; and four
grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
First Methodist Church of Caldwell. The Rev. Harold N.
Nye will officiate. Interment will be in Canyon Hill
Cemetery under the direction of the Peckham-Dakan-Davis
Chapel. Friends may call at the First Methodist Church
form 1:30 p.m. until the our of services.
The family asks that memorials be given to the First
Methodist Church. |
