John Emmett McClure,
79, of 923 Grant St., Caldwell, died Saturday at his home.
He was born Oct. 5, 1879, at Grandview, W. Va., was
reared in Grandview and was married there to Bessie Callaway
on May 3, 1905.
They moved to Enterprise, Ore., in 1909, and none years
later moved to Portland where he worked in the shipyards
during World War I.
They came to Caldwell in 1919 and a year later moved to
a farm East of town where he farmed for 25 years and returned
to Caldwell in 1946 where they had since made their home.
He was a member of the First Christian Church of
Caldwell and served as deacon in the church for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Bessie McClure,
Caldwell, a son, Clarence McClure, Grandview, Wash., and two
daughters, Mrs. Mildred McClure and Mrs. Loren Harritt, both
of Caldwell; a sister, Mrs. Charles Haney of Caldwell;
four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the
Peckham-Dakan-Davis Chapel. The Rev. Murl M. Jones will
officiate. Interment will be in Canyon Hill cemetery. |
