     Mrs. M. R. Jenkins, 85, one of the earliest pioneers of the state, was laid at rest this afternoon in the Canyon Hill cemetery.  Mrs. Jenkins has lived near Caldwell since 1863 and was in Boise at the time of her death which followed only a few days illness.
     The pioneer was born in Missouri August 23, 1844.  She married Joseph Bacon and moved to Colorado by ox team, coming to Boise later in 1863.  She was one of the first white woman in Idaho and she and her husband built what is believed to be the oldest log cabin in Boise.  The cabin now stands in Julia Davis park.
     Mr. Bacon was accidentally killed and some time later she married M. R. Jenkins and from then until the time of her death she has lived about three miles from Caldwell on the highway between Caldwell and Middleton.  Mr. Jenkins died in 1909.  He was the first probate judge in Canyon county.
     Mrs. Jenkins is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Frank M. Breshears of Boise, Mrs. Ida Hammond of Oakland, Calif., and Mrs. Ella Vaughn of Spearfish, S. D.; one son, Mr. R. Jenkins of Boise, 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
     The funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Caldwell this afternoon with Dr. W. J. Boone of the college officiating.
