Ella Francis Lane, 80,
418 Arthur St., Caldwell, died this morning at a Nampa nursing
home, after an extended illness.
She was born Oct. 7, 1878, in Jefferson, Iowa, and was
reared in Colorado, She was married to William H. Lane
on Jan. 5, 1898, at Elmora, Colo. They lived in Colorado
until 1910 when they came to Caldwell. They then moved
to Middleton, where they lived for two years, and later
homesteaded near Melba. In 1931, they returned to
Caldwell, where she resided until 1956, when she entered the
nursing home at Nampa.
Mr. Lane preceded her in death in 1941.
She was a member of the First Christian Church at
Caldwell. She was a charter member of the Walters Butte
Grange at Melba, a member of the Women's Relief Corps, and a
former member of the Rebecca Lodge.
She is survived by one son, Lorin W. Lane, of Melba;
three daughters, Mrs. Susie Robbins, Kelso, Wash., Mrs. Edith
Hockinson, Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Dorothy Steelman,
Council, Idaho; two sisters, Mrs. Emma L. Scott, Sausalito,
Calif., and Mrs. Josie Knowles, Boise; two brothers, Roy
Whipple, Boise, and Sam Whipple, Willits, Calif.; 10
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was
preceded
in death by one son, Edward A. Lane, in 1957, and a twin
sister, Mrs. Effie Dowd Sims, in 1951.
Services are pending at the Alsip Chapel. |
