Ralph B. Wissel, 87, Nampa, died at his home on Tuesday, Feb.
23, 2010. Ralph was born July 8, 1922 in Nampa to John and
Nora, the youngest of eight children. He was raised on a farm
established by his father in 1911, attended St. Paul's School
and graduated from Nampa High in 1941. On August 17, 1942,
Ralph married Shirley Rose Amundson. To this union eleven
children were born. While he and Shirley raised their family,
Ralph's life was always in agriculture, feeding cattle, and
general row crop farming. On June 21, 1976 Ralph married
Bonnie Applegate. Together they created a loving home,
welcoming all who arrived at their door. They enjoyed
traveling the U. S. and abroad and to their quiet little spot
in Donnelly. For many years Ralph also sold sugarbeet seed
locally. In the summer of 2007, Ralph and Bonnie were both
honored for their longtime membership by the Idaho Farm
Bureau. The love of the farm kept Ralph actively involved and
interested in the daily activities. His little truck could be
seen going to and from the fields around the home place on
Lake Lowell Ave. Ralph served as a member of the Nampa
Meridian Irrigation District Board, a 4th Degree Knight member
of the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of the Nampa
Elks, BPOE 1389, and had served as a Eucharistic Minister at
St. Paul's Church. He is survived by his loving wife Bonnie,
sister Kitty Huff, and brother Leo (Mary) children Clinton

(Robert Goodkind), Marybeth (Richard) Snitily, Anne Hanson,

Bonnie's children Keith (Pat) Applegate, Judy Hamilton, Dale
(Laurie) Applegate, Roger Applegate, and Pam Strong ("Beerman"Don),

some and Papa to others. Also surviving Ralph is the mother of
his children, Shirley Pennell and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Mildred
Blackstock and Marie Mitchell, brothers Fritz, Clare and Paul,
and two grandchildren. Ralph often mentioned how he, the

keeping company and telling each other lies once again in
heaven. A wake will be held Monday evening, March 1, 2010 at
